  1. I just did one of these behind my car port: https://www.menards.com/main/outdoors/sheds-outdoor-storage-accessories/sheds/arrow-euro-lite-lean-too-steel-shed/elphd104/p-1518420584359.htm and all I can say is it was VERY tough for one person to assemble by themselves, and it filled up all too quickly. I wish i had more room for a bigger shed. Cheaped our (shocking, I know) and got ground anchor stakes and usd some stone pavers for a floor. Critters burrowed into it from underneath between the pavers. Should’ve used a more solid flooring material like concrete. glad I did it!!!
  2. So...I'm watching YouTube videos and an ad pops up with Trump talking about all the bad things liberals do and want to do to our country and ICE officers, while loving on illegal immigrants. I couldn't click past the ad fast enough, but he was shilling a "buy-a-brick" program for the wall on the border with Mexico?!? I'm trying not to laugh/cry at how sad this is.
  3. I think the publicity around being a top 20 city is as much a viability validation for the city as anything. The country - if not parts of the global economy - are watching and listening. With some friends/family in commercial real estate development, I can tell you just being at the top of the list but not winning (read: not having to deliver in spending money/resources to complete a project) is a very shiny silver medal.
  4. Didn't know about the L33...neat engine. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/04/26/l33-5-3l-engine-upgrade-guide-expert-advice-for-l33-mods-to-maximize-performance/
  5. NOT SURE IF SRS... ...but I'll allow it. :fuckyeah:
  6. Well done, Scott! Many more happy miles... I have more love for newer Ford trucks over GM, but GMT400/GMT800 trucks are a really good used platform to own, maintain and drive.
  7. Uhh...no. I haven't waxed a truck in 10+ years
  8. What I have found already has similar issues, either with the same wear characteristics or other problems. Trying to avoid the used route if I can just get the bottom seatpad. I'm down for that project....but where to source an OEM cover? (NOT an aftermarket Hello Kitty slipcover) eBay? EDIT: Oh snap!!!! Nice, Steve! If I could just find something in gray cloth/tweed... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-2001-2002-Chevy-Silverado-Driver-Bottom-Seat-Cover-Foam-Cushion-Gray/332734240715?epid=2256824660&hash=item4d788197cb:rk:1:pf:0
  9. My '01 Silverado is passing 80k miles. The 40/20/40 split bench base interior (I think the upholstery is called "Duramax Tweed") is in great shape aside from the drivers' seat bottom having the requisite destroyed side bolster, with cloth worn away from the seat bottom, foam destroyed, and the vinyl side bolster gone. I rolled up some rags, stuffed them in the void, and held it all together with gaffers tape:lol: It's working for now. I'd like to see what the cost would be for just the drivers seat bottom. See the stock photo below with me circling the offending component. Aside from Car-part for a used seat that will probably have suffered the same fate, is there any OEM supplier (aside from GM) that would sell just this seat bottom, so I don't have to spend a ton of money for a full bench seat? Anyone ever just get a seat bottom re-foamed and reupholstered? Maybe that's the better way to go... Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Since August, I've definitely been using - and still enjoying - this truck. No new problems have popped up and it's a reliable cruiser/hauler with A/C; about all I can ask for from a truck during summertime in Ohio. Lotsa hauling - scrap metal, yard waste, furniture Father/daughter camping trip. Guess who gets the bikes when my friend has a Mercedes SUV? Much love to Mike (dq driver) for 2-step polishing this thing. I was hoping to bring a little shine back to the red paint, but the results are pretty amazing! Note the tape line through the old fleet-truck fender numbers. More to come on that, once I replace the rusty rockers and add some touch-up paint to areas that need it. I promise some more updates as I get some of the aesthetics taken care of!
  11. Sorry for the lack of response... We want to use Samsung SmartThings to control various functions around the house: alarm system, WiFi-enabled thermostat and garage door opener. If we can wire up the X10 units for cameras and plugs, that would be ideal.
  12. I didn’t find a thread already for HQ2? https://www.dispatch.com/news/20181005/amazon-has-lots-of-questions-for-columbus-others-in-chase-for-hq2 Interesting details around the back-and-forth between Amazon and Columbus 2020 for planning details around Columbus’ offering for HQ2. Will be interesting to see.
  13. Props to you for not messing around with this project. You’re digging into it quickly
  14. Through my techie father-in-law and a Buy-Sell-Trade pickup from a techie neighbor, I've picked up a bunch of X10 pieces - wall switches, lamp timers, and 2.4GHz remote cameras. The pieces are all older ('12-15 my guess) but nothing was ever used; in both situations, the guys sat on the equipment and then used other systems to wire their homes. My wife wants to use Samsung’s “SmartThings” hub. I'm just not in the mindset of setting up a home network especially for using the xx16A-C cameras. Any experience would be great. Thank you! http://www.x10.com
  15. https://jalopnik.com/this-guy-restored-a-bmw-2002-with-whatever-he-could-fin-1829528937 Lens looks cleaner...
  16. I spent WAAAAY too much time reading this article last night... I'm looking at the world differently today. Gives me the heebie-jeebies...
  17. Thank you. Forwarded to my friend. It's a pretty loaded V8. It's plush...I'm not an SUV guy but I get why people love these.
  18. That car is evidence that - if you get rid of the stupid heavy steel bumpers and cheesy baroque plastic grilles, you can make '70s/80s American cars look great. Love the stance and monochromatic look.
  19. - Know the issues. Understand how your life and the lives of people you care about are affected. Not just in execution of legislation, but in the cost and who burdens that responsibility. - Understand the candidates. Knowing that past performance isn't a guarantee of future outcomes (so it stands with investments as it does with politicians), it may help provide balance where a one-sided house could go astray. I'm going to make an effort to avoid voting along party lines and be more conscious of what my vote means to the greater good for certain issues and candidates.
  20. LOL @ broke-dick sub-division owner thinking they can just slap solar panels on their 1990s roof: - Quality of roof has to be up to spec to install solar panels (shingles arent old, roofing/trusses are heavy-duty enough for the panel installation) - Code has to approve the panels - The cost/benefit analysis for investment has to be there. To DJ's point, #3 is better than it used to be (and keeps getting better), but 1 and 2 are variables homeowners need to be more concerned with. I've got 2x6 roof trusses that are 16" OC, so no worries about structural. I'm better off resetting the roof life in 2018, and install panels - say, 5-10 years from now - when the efficiency is up 10-33% on the cells and the panel installation is down $$$thousands in cost.
  21. If people don't make a change for the mid-term elections, then we truly are fooked.
  22. I honestly can't remember who I called over the last couple of months...I ended up doing the goddamn chimneys myself with a friend as every mason I contacted was a fucking flake, or wanted a fortune to throw mud at some bricks. Muth Roofing wanted $16.5 for the roof, and another $2900 for gutters. Ross Roofing was $11,300 and I've used them before with excellent results, but Joe won me over. He also did a neighbor's house in the last couple of years and was respectful of me beating him up over price (relative to Ross' quote). https://www.surehomeimprovements.com/ The shingles and felt were still holding up, but I had two spots over the last few years I had to have repaired because of water damage. After traipsing around the roof over the last couple of weekends doing concrete work, I am very happy with the piece of mind I now have replacing what was clearly a roof that ended it's servicable life a while ago.
