  1. I'm looking at a gt35/40 and they actually have a gt35 turbine map posted so I was trying to determine what the data they gave actually way. The gt40 compressor is a 60-1 style housing with the gt wheel. I was looking at normal T series turbos but for the price I have come across for something of this nature it may be too good to pass up. http://palpatine.infinitedata.net/~jweber/GT35turbine.jpg
  2. Looking for information on the turbine side not the compressor side. Thanks for the links though.
  3. Can anyone point me to any information on reading a turbine map for a turbo? Thanks.
  4. Not sure if it will help anyone but there is a worthington police officer just past the 161 exit on 315S and there is a columbus police officer 1/4 mile past that clocking right now ~215am. Be careful out there tonight.
  5. In my situation the cost of the setup was split between another person and myself. So this negates my ability to be able to leave it in the car at all times. I have now come across a nice egt monitor which can be removed from the car thanks to one of the other memebers on here and I think I am going to go for one of those. Less gauges and less clutter = good.

    Dump Tube

I would assume he has a turbo neon if he is even thinking about running one of those, so how would it sound too much different than any other turbo 4cyl than one. IMO a shitty sound would be worth the power increase you might see anyway.

    Dump Tube

Wastegate dump tube, or like a cutout in your exhaust?
  8. Wideband and egt gauges work together for tuning. a wideband may be a better one shot deal but leaving it plugged in and running all the time may not be an option.
  9. Whos using what. Any of them I should look out for and not buy? Need to pick one and weld the bung for it into my manifold while the guy is welding the rest of it all together. Thanks.
  10. My original choice was a tial, but the guy at innovative is making a case for using his gate (of course) and I wanted to see if anyone had experience with it.
  11. +1 Every magazine I pick up has articles which are like a big ad for the magazines advertisers. Its hard pressed to actually find something worth reading for the 5 bucks you spend on the thing.
  12. At approx 500 dollars what makes this better than the other gates mentioned before. I doubt I am going to be making enough power to justify running a wastegate that large anyway.
  13. I've been looking at which external wastegate to buy and I'm torn now. I though it was going to be as simple as picking up a tial gate. But the guy I am dealing with at innovative sings praise on their mini-gate versus the tial 38mm gate. It costs about 25 more dollars but their propoganda says its 25 extra dollars well spent. Who is running what and what should I be looking for when making this selection?
  14. Looking at replacing my stock hacked up heater box and I figure I might as well get rid of the weak vw heater core. Do they make some type of aftermarket heater box application that uses an electric heater rather than a heater core? If so where can I find one and what would be the pros or cons of using this versus one that has coolant piped through it. I basically just need to make sure I have window defog nothing fancy like driving when its 30* out. smile.gif -jeff

    BOV help

Now that I think about it thats not possible. The maf is preturbo so that wont help at all. The only way to fix that issue is to recirculate the box back into the intake stream after the maf. Its been a common problem with people trying to use a bov on a 1.8T with stock management. -jeff

    BOV help

Move the blow off valve before the maf. This should correct the problem. Either that or you need to recircuilate it back into the intake stream.

    Ideas?

VW sells a set of ebiach springs for your car that are designed not to need new shocks but they dont offer much of a drop at all but do handle a bit better. If you don't go with those I would for sure grab new shocks though.

h&r springs and bilstein shocks are what I am running. works well and gives a nice lowered stance.

Just an update since I posted pics of the Jetta above in this thread. It went 9.93 @ 143mph and was backed up with a 9.94 @ 142mph tonight at the IDRC race at ATCO. Who says vws are slow. smile.gif

Its gonna cost a pretty penny to swap a 1.8T in your jetta. You can for less money toss on a turbo kit from http://www.8vturbo.com . You could also piece together your own setup for quite a bit cheaper if you are turbo savy it just depends on what you want to do. Check out http://www.dieselgeek.com/A4NB_SS.htm, way cheaper than the neuspeed option and it works just as well. For the clutch I have actually had good results from a neuspeed clutch but ymmv. Right now on the turbo car we have the stage 2 setup from ecs and it seems to work pretty well. For brakes check out http://www.ecstuning.com but you don't really need a whole lot more than what your car has already in that department. You can't go wrong with a Techtonics exhaust and it will sound pretty good too. But if you decide you want to go turbo you should hold off and have a 3" exhaust made for your car (I can or plenty of other people can help you out if thats what you want). http://www.tttuning.com For all the look good mods you're on your own but there are some people in town that may be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.ohiovw.com Hope that helps you out. -jeff

Never had any problem with my 2.slow burning oil so I don't know what you're talking about. Secondly the nospeed supercharger is the worst thing you could ever spend your money on. You can turbo a 2.0 slap two head gaskets on it and go 13s pretty simple and for less money than the supercharger costs. The 2.0 in factory trim is one of the most reliable and cheap motors you can buy to stick in your VW. Really before you turbo the 2.0 if its a new car you are better off selling it and spending the extra money to get a 1.8T a chip and an intercooler. Less money and faster car. -jeff

What are you looking to do? There are a number of things you can do the not-so-commonly modded jetta. If you give me some ideas on where you would like to improve performance I can help you out. Also not all jettas are slow. smile.gif It never hurts to dream. http://www.schimmelperformance.com/images/full/pictures/DSCN4201%5B1%5D.jpg Car has a best of 10.39@136mph and backed it up with a 10.4@133.
  24. I come out once or twice a month and hit the week day meets sometimes. Usually I am working on my car or hanging out at home. I will probablly be out this weekend if something is going on. You can hit me up on aim if you want. fush23 -jeff
  25. Why in the world would your downpipe be causing a CEL? What code is it throwing? Yes I am on ohiovw but I don't mill around much over there because everyone there is a cosmetic modder. There are a couple guys who are cool but I get the general elitist attitude feeling from most of the people over there who are all driving 15 second sleds but think their stuff if the fastest thing on the planet. smile.gif The guys on this board don't care they are just about the cars.
