  1. Interesting as it is a Barracuda product. I prefer wireless from the camera to the service endpoint, rather than wired.
  2. Someone is targeting my street so I want to get a camera that shoots down my driveway and one at each door. I would like to have the images stored and available live via an app. Anyone?
  3. It is important to realize what you want to do but keep in mind that once you start doing it for work, the dynamic changes.
  4. I have several different funds going for my both of my sons. I have a 529, I also have an education IRA and I have some education bonds. If you don't believe in financial advisors, you can find a good credit union with a nice college savings portfolio. You don't have to use collegeadvantage for a 529, in fact I would suggest against it as I don't trust random people (especially government types) handling my money.
  5. Weber, been using them for years, inexpensive and good.
  6. Most of the support dudes live in houses, a little from the city. If you are willing to commute a bit, you can have a nice place. The nice thing is there are loads of jobs here, Silicon Valley hired 30,000 people last month.
  7. That's a tough one, I know the most senior TSE makes $115,000. Not sure what the most Junior one pays, I would say the range is probably 75 - 80k.
  8. BTW, I saw 3 Ferrari's on the way to the office yesterday. 3.
  9. If you apply, send me your resume jkent@qualys.com and I will make sure the support director sees it. He's a good guy, I would like to work for him but my role is global and he only does support.

  11. IT? Routers and Switches? Programming? Desktop Repair? Wireless?
  12. So I was in the support area today and the Director asked me to tell some folks we have several openings. If you are young and willing to move to California, and have some technical skills, let me know. An understanding of IP, Security topics and basic functions in windows/unix, you might be a good candidate.
  13. No Hassle rewards card is what you want.
  14. With and airline card, or hotel card, they just go into your miles account with the brand. Then you go to the mile/points redemption page and book a flight or hotel. I will say that it isn't always the flight you want, and you have to work at it a bit. I booked this trip 7 months ago, but I know when I am going to want to go so its easy. Capital One has a card that does points for travel. Seems easier because you can use it on any airline, hotel or rental car. I travel ~130,000 miles per year so I stay on one airline as the perks add up faster. Now, what problem do you want to solve? What is the goal?
  15. This isn't just for self employed. I work for a company and drive to things all the time. If I drive from my house to Staples to pick up supplies, that's a work trip. You should take note of the starting and stopping mileage and purpose of the trip, in a log. If you do that, you are bullet-proof if you get audited. If you just guess, you will get f'd. But yes, any trip can be a business trip and you can claim 51 cents per mile.
  16. I travel for business and find that I get the points card for what I am doing. I am currently using a Hilton Amex, for the Hilton points. I now have so many I don't need more, so I will probably switch to United as I want more reward miles. What do I do with all of this? Simple. I am taking my wife and two boys (4 of us total) to Hawaii for a week in a pretty sweet resort. Hilton Waikaloa Village. Cost, Airfare = free, Hotel = free, Car Rental = $200, Food = TBD. Looking at maybe $600 total for 4 people to hawaii. Current airfare to Kona is $700pp. Do what you want to do with the points and don't lock into a single card if you don't want to.
  17. google - Marriott discount codes
  18. I met a guy at the airport that owns a software company in Columbus. He is having a tough time finding vb.net dev guys that have experience. If you know anyone that's looking, send them this way, shoot me a PM.
  19. Someone said to send the Tbone back and order filet, the TBone contains a filet.
  20. We have been a cloud company for about 10 years, I trust the way we do things. Facebook is a cloud company. Columbus Racing is cloud based. How much trust are you willing to part with, that's the question.
  21. If you are going I can get you into our party at The Bank in the Bellagio.
  22. Small cask Puerto Rican rum that I get when I go to Puerto Rico.
