  1. I forgot to write my repost disclaimer. Well, has that car been finished yet?
  2. http://www.nmratv.com/index.php?stream=http://www.streetlegaltv.com/video/features/Heretic-P1_Intro.flv I had to do a double take in the beginning. Maybe someone knows if parts 2 ,3 and 4 of this video have been released yet.
  3. http://www.putfile.com/mkent93 I sent this out on Monday to a guy in Florida...this is how it arrived on his door step yesterday. I thought I paid for ground shipping but apparently they air-mailed it with no parachute. Now they are trying to claim I did not ask for insurance so they will cover up to $100, if that! Anyone have a core for a 96-97 LT1 car? BTW, I don't recommend shipping via DHL.
  4. I would be interested. That used to be my home track
  5. I've heard that since I started racing there in '01.
  6. I have to admit I do like the built in Pepsi Cooler in the rear of the car

    LT1 Boost?

I don't know from experience, nor will I because I decided to build a forged motor to support the boost, but like said before, the compression kills these engines on boost. Some people at cz28.com have gotten away with 6#'s for 30,000mi, and others didn't make it 2000mi. I think if you're going to do it that way, you MUST build a fuel system, an intercooler, and get a dyno tune (I can do that for you at Dynotune Motorsports!). In addition, an added safety feature would be meth injection. The pistons are the weak link in those engines...more specifically, the rings. I think throwing some forged pistons that lower your compression a bit would be fine for modest HP goals (say 400-450 rwhp). They say the cranks start stressing as you approach 550rwhp.
  8. Have you looked into CPT? http://www.cahallperformancetransmissions.com/ From what I've read on camaross.com, they have great customer service, 6mo warranty and use better parts than other shops. They also offer a neat Customer Freshen Up deal in case have the tranny pulled out a few years down the road and want to have it inspected and "freshened" up while you're getting your stroker kit installed. I am looking into these guys for my latest modifications. They won't state a definative horsepower limit, but they give a good explanation to why here: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467120 Basically, tranny holding capacity seems to depend more on 60' times than hp is what they say. I would be interested in what you have in the end so please keep us posted or PM me the details.
  9. Bubba gonna spend a year cleaning up that mess
  10. Come on, Sam. What were you thinking posting this in The Kitchen? This was a Kill Story! :nutkick:
  11. Yeah the cops were pricks tonight. A group of us moved over to the bowling place and the cops followed us right over there and told us we had to leave. Then we decided it would be fun to actually go in and bowl...they told us if we did they would "throw you in jail and lock you up!" bastages is what they are. I hope somone got the drifter on camera so I can watch it and laugh.
  12. 97 Z28 auto w/2.73 gears stock : 22/29 (years ago) same car well modified: 16/21 (now) 89 Prelude Si. : 28/32
  13. Since that's close to my home town of Warsaw, I'll plan on going back for the meet. BTW, what is your last name? I have a chirorpactor there that I go to--maybe it is you?
  14. Im not sure where you read this stuff at but 14.8 is more like a TPI et from 1992. Even on the hottest of hot days at Trails and my 2.73's I never seen slower than a 14.5(avg time was 14.29). Now when I had a 6speed car, the first time I took it to the track, I ran 14.7's-14.9's @97 until I learned how to drive a little bit. I never did get good at it, but still ran a 14.3@99 and that is stock exhaust and filter along with everything else. My brother has a 95 Formula with 180,000mi...yeah we had to replace alot of stuff when we bought the car since the previous owner didn't do maintenance but it's a pretty nice car now and runs low 13's on stock heads. Your monte sounds pretty nice. I'm not sure I'd get rid of it unless you're getting alot of your money back out of it. Good luck with whatever you do though, they're both good cars and a blast to drive. Orion, don't quote me but I believe the LT1 has even been in the 8's.
  15. As an LT1 owner, I must say 98fiveseven has said it well. If you do your own work, the LT1 is definately the more economical way to go but the speed density is tough to tune. If you find a nice 94-97, it comes with the MAF and is easier to tune. 94's are not vented optisparks but if you're buying one, you may as well put a new one on it for peace of mind, and you can get a vented GM optispark for just over $200. If you go this route, let me know and I will get you the dealership who will sell it to you for that $2XX I speak of along with many other parts most dealerships try to get 2x as much for! If the car is an automatic, a stall and gears is .5 et reduction and a small cam is about another .5-.7. I've run a best of 12.74 @107mph and just dynotuned my OBD1 bumping horsepower to 308rwhp and torque up to 349 ft.lb. If you wanted to get rid of the monte, I'd go with the LS1. If not, get an LT1 and make it fast. Stock at trails my weather dependent times ranged from 14.1-14.4 @97-98mph on 2.73 gears.
  16. I'm running the MT's and boy do they hook at the track! I believe they do not break loose at all but then again I am not making 1000hp. My 60' are 1.76-1.81 depending on air temp. HOWEVER, I hate running these on the highway due to the extra soft sidewalls. They do not FEEL stable at all for doing high speeds while turning the steering wheel.
  17. I met up with some cars in Harrisburg once when i was passing through on a road trip. There were some fast cobras, supras and LS1's.
  18. Negative. If it was Ben, it was a GMMG exhaust and that would be why it sounds so sweet.
  19. what editing software was used for that?
  20. My car is about 1mph slower and 2 tenths slower while racing with my 18's. It cuts nice 1.91 60's though but it's still slower in the end. To the smart asses who stated the obvious about rotational mass--I'm willing to bet I've had as much or more physics education as you to know this was the case. However, many people in the world don't really think about these things when buying wheels to increase the appearance of their car (or make the car look hideous in extreme cases). SPLN SUX, I like the way you explained the effects--I could never be a professor/teacher because I can't explain science and math comprehensively as you just did.
  21. I was reading this over on the corvetteforums. I found it interesting since I've suspected this theory ever since I put the heavy chrome c5 wheels on my Z. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1328054&highlight=c6+wheel+weight In summary, 17" stock wheel weighs about 16.5 pounds less than 18" chrome wheel. 17" stock wheel dynoed 12rwhp more and 9rwtq more than heavy 18" chrome.
  22. who sings that song in the video?
  23. Do they have a progressive spring rate? I put SLP/Eibachs on mine from an SS and they also feel softer. Going through the corners they seem to hold their ground though! My ride seems smoother than stock and thats even on some lower profile tires...nice car you have there
