  1. I don't know about all that....frankly, i'm kinda scared now. is there a limit to the number of people or a deadline to apply? I need to look through my schedule before I dish out $200 for this. *unwraps new 2006 daily planner and flips through pages* ...yeah, I guess I can squeeze this into my busy schedule.
  2. Nate, I am certainly interested in attending this. Are you planning on getting a hotel room or driving up in the morning? I assume that's about a 3.5-4 hour drive, right?
  3. Anthony, the company who did your transmission--where are they located and how much was it? Also, is that the original 10-bolt? I'm running the 3.73 gears on a completely stock 10-bolt and I am scared to death its going to break at the track.
  4. this is true. I haven't owned one, but have driven a friend's with the 4+3 and it was a pretty neat tranny. Like he said, with the button pushed, your RPM's are way down and it's great for cruising and if you don't care about gas mileage then hit the button again and you have a nice 4 speed. The one I drove shifted really nice but I believe it had been built by Art Carr
  5. My wedding is on that day...I may just bale out and come to your party.
  6. Your calculations are correct in those formulas, however, the error generated by assuming constant acceleration is causing your x value to be non-sense. Using the motion equations on the dragster only, with acceleration = 110ft/s*s, this tells us that in 4.441 secs the dragster travels only 1085 ft. (We know that in reality the dragster travelled 1320ft!) The margin of error is 17.8%. This simple calculation proves the assumption of constant acceleration to be unrealistic in this situation. The dragster WILL pass the vette before 1/4 mile of track. The vette is travelling at 293.33 ft/s and thus will cross the line in exactly 4.5001 seconds on any Armitron stopwatch from Wal-mart's jewelry section. We have proof that the drag car runs the 1/4 mile in 4.441 seconds. Therefore, the dragster wins by 0.0591 seconds. Without the dragster's acceleration expressed as a functin of time or distance, it is impossible to calculate WHERE or WHEN the dragster will have actually caught the twin turbo Corvette. A ROUGH estimate of when the dragster catches the corvette is after 4.38 seconds. All I did was correct the 1564 ft figure for the 17.8% error and came up with a number of 1286ft (where the vette might be over taken) and then 1286ft/293.33ft/s = 4.38 seconds (when the vette might be over taken). I would imagine that in reality it is sooner than this since the dragster will accelerate well above 110 ft/s^2 off the starting line.
  7. that just made me laugh uncontrollably! nice work, spaceghost. As for the GTO...like others have said, even through the over-used GTO descriptive word: BLAND, I always loved the looks of it. It kind of reminded me of a BMW in a "bland' way. BMW's, IMO, are bland. But when I know that BMW has 333 hp, bland is very stylish. Same with the GTO...even the 05's with the hood and ground effects, it is still not over-done like the ls1 style firebirds. (don't get me wrong about the firebirds, I think the WS6 is one of the sweetest looking cars I've ever seen but the GTO just looks so much more mature.)
  8. are these gen 1, 2, or 3 heads? I will be in the market for LT1 heads in the coming months....
  9. I think the Grand Prix would be good for her and also, similar to the grand prix, I am really starting to like the looks of some of the Impalas. If you get either of these cars, make sure it is the 3800 series motor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-Chev-Impala-LS-Sport-wheels-sunroof-bucket-seats_W0QQitemZ4613574583QQcategoryZ6169QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  10. I banged Stacy Keibler last weekend. I sucked chocalate off those Keibler cookies and in 9 months I will be the daddy of a Keibler elf.
  11. Okay, now I must ask...what defines a "factory five car?"
  12. i'm a chevy lovin kind of guy but I do like the way this man thinks! for the haters: atleast this guy is smart enough to start with a potentially fast car (even if it is a rust bucket) when he wants to build a fast car rather than a "Vtech" in a rice bucket. BUT...watch what you say because by no means would it be an LS1 slayer. The LS1 was a profet sent by the Car gods. This car would be more accurately described as "LS1Prey"...which is probably what most the people on this board's license plates should read, including my own.
  13. that is exactly what I feel happened to the bumper on the car now. I believe it was just deformed from the way it was stored. I don't think a new bumper has as much chance of being miscared for like that. I was going to sell them a bumper I have had sittin in the garage for a few years now but I could tell it had changed shape from the way we stored it. I haven't heard from them since the 7th so maybe they're fixing it right this time. This rental car is probably due for an oil change by now!
  14. They must not have got that freezer from their local Sears.
  15. i've seen that many times on here, yet I watch it every time just as amazed as the first time I seen it!

  17. I realize it's made of poly-. I've repainted 4 of them with dad (front and rear bumpers) and never did we not get it re-installed straight. Also, it was certainly straight from the factory. The guy at the body shop tried to tell me the same thing, "yeah, that bumper was never straight. That is just how they are." I call BS because I've been around these F-bodies long enough to know they will only be uneven if someone performs less than satisfactory work on them or if you back into something. IF you can look to the right of my fine fiance in the picture on the first page, you will notice that the bumper was originally very straight--perhaps not perfect, but much better than the body shop made it. Here is a video showing the rear of my Z--take not of how my polyeurethane is even and straight. It is non-sense to say they can't be straight because they are poly. I apologize if I am coming across as a prick because I'm sure you're an intelligent, nice guy, but I am getting irritated that any 'body guy' would say "it was never straight." http://media.putfile.com/My-97-Z28-218224112-CompCam-Gale-Banks-Cat-back-ASM-headers by the way, 360Iroc, that picture in your sig is pretty sweet.
  18. I was thinking of 3C also because I have heard of them--maybe I misunderstood her. As far as the paint not matching--I suspect it may be a shade brighter because the original paint is faded/dirty. I need to spend a saturday buffing it and waxing it again since the girl doesn't wash it often enough. There is some overspray on the tailpipe, which looks very unprofessional, but that is all I noticed, and I can wipe that off in 30 seconds. Once they get everything right, I am going to take it for a drive and see how it drives.
  19. Just to clear things up a little bit...the body shop released the car to Progressive Insurance. Progressive then checked it over in their shop and called me to let me know it was ready to be picked up. BOTH companies are neglecting to ensure quality work. Here are pics from today. I told them AGAIN to fix the car right and left them a check list of things to do. The rear bumper already has stress cracks in the paint. The gas lid is still not flush with the quarter panel. The rear bumper is not properly aligned (see pic) and the quarter panel has apparently had some filler added near the spoiler and has a "flat" shape to it which does not match the hatch (see pic). Also, I found filler in the lip of the fender well. A picture of the right side from the factory--looks good... http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2213/goodquarter3fz.jpg A picture of the newly "repaired" side which looks very flat. http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1284/flatquarter6mi.jpg Notice the very uneven gap between the filler panel and bumper cover. http://img284.imageshack.us/img284/7508/bumper9if.jpg And remember, this was their 2nd try. We will see how the 3rd try goes. As long as they continue trying to fix it, I will let them since they are paying for the rental. I wish I felt more comfortable buying a lawyer right now for the nightmare this has been.
  20. very nice. Have you and Ben (with the white 01 SS) ran yet? I've ran him quite a few times and we're pretty even on the highway until we hit about 115-120, then I have the advantage. From a dig, I stomp him just because I've got the automatic and a stall, but from a 40 he gets me from the start. Once I get the car back out of storage I'll run you sometime. You should walk me pretty good depending on what mph we run from but I would like to compare my car to yours before I buy heads.
  21. With the head phones on, that sounded pretty sweet. Linn, how much are you spraying there and what modifications are done to your car? Last time I seen it, you had a cut-out and I thought you had headers but can't remember...
  22. Here are pics from the accident. http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9462/p10102623zi.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3380/p10102631ka.jpg http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8843/p10102663sy.jpg UPDATE: They called today and asked me to come pick it up tomorrow morning. The body shop, I am told, is called "3SG" ??? They claim its the biggest shop in columbus. I am going to look it over real well in when I go to pick it up. They said they realigned the fender, the gas lid and the rear hatch. I am going to remove the inner panels of the hatch and check the welds for the quarter panel to see if they actually replaced it and if the used quarter they claim to have put on was previously damaged. Also, I plan on getting the number for the shop to make sure the car WAS put on a frame jig and straigtened. What do you guys think about a front alignment? Do you think they should have to do that if the frame was damaged?
  23. I will try to get the wrecked pictures up tonight after class. The damage was $3850 and I just found out they repaired it with a used quarter panel. That would be fine since its still a GM production panel but I'm wondering if they used a damaged quarter panel!
