dang I Came in here looking for some 'ice'

Had 2 come by already (1 of them being the ones to climb up on the roof). Seemed knowledgeable and asked to be on site as and advocate for the damages. Which in theory seems like a good idea being I have no experience with insurance companies. On the other hand i'm worried about getting hosed by the adjuster.... :-/

I'm still smart phone free is there any kind of APP for aPC I can use just to get ideas?

Hoping to get the opinion of folks in the insurance industry on this. Or whomever I guess. a little over a week ago we got a pretty bad hail storm after the fact, I went around looking at the damage. On one side of the roof there is pretty good hail damage. Not leaking but you can see it clearly. My roof is about 15 yrs old too. My A/C got beat up pretty good. On one side you can see divets in the cooling fins. My fence needs re-stained, you can see the hail divets on it. My screens have holes in them (no biggie), then also there is a small chip on one of my pieces of siding. I have heard a horror story of a co-worker that got dropped from home insurance. Even though he only made 2 claims in 3 years, one of them got divided into 2 claims so it put him into the '3 claim' magic number for getting dropped. Now he has a hell of a time getting home insurance. I personally have never had an insurance claim. Now to the questions: - Should I go ahead and have the adjuster come out or wait till the end of the storm season? Worried we may not have damaging storms like this an then I'll be SOL. - Is the 3 claim number legit? I'm paranoid about submitting this claim then getting hosed again and being hosed, or am I being paranoid? - Does the cost of the claims factor into the decision of getting dropped? I had on guy climb on the roof and look around, but he said 'we're expensive' Granted they have been around for 20 yrs and are insured, on angies list etc etc, none of this fly by night stuff. - I have my home insurance with the same provider as my car. If I have a car claim and a house claim do they count against me? I am looking at getting out of this house in the next 4-5 yrs. Am I being paranoid should I just use insurance (now that I get to) and not worry about it? Any tips on dealing with adjusters?

Probably going to get different tips from folks. What lenses did your kit come with? just the 18-55 or the 55-200 too? Not sure what your budget is but.... - firstly get a tripod. I got this one a while ago and I love it. Basically take it everywhere. It will help give you some great shots. Since the D3100 doesn't have bracketing. The tripod will be something you can use to change the EV and take multiple shots manually. http://www.amazon.com/Benro-A-150EXU-Digital-Tripod-Black/dp/B003U2T9DY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333725199&sr=8-1 - I really like my 35 mm f1.8 lens for traveling. Its a prime lens with a huge apperture. Its light (great for traveling) and cheap ($200).

Can-am - Renegade. Test drove one of them at a park and I was super impressed.

Right. 2 stroke's are stupid for trail riding unless you are going to be absolutely destroying the trails 100% of the time. Oh and have fun with the kick start. Banshee's are plenty of fun....for drag (oh yeah epitome of fun on an ATV) and Hill Climbs (are you the guy that sits at the same set of climbs just going up them for 4 hours?) Not trying to hate but its clear that the original poster might have different needs than you, or I, or both of us.

This. I have one love it. The banshee or any other 2 stroke quad you will regret if you are doing woods riding.

Civic and RX-7 were. The Cummins was not as fortunate. Luckily it was a Texas truck and already had a few dings so i'm not terribly upset about it. Can't wait to have a garage big enough to park it inside too. My window screens are destroyed, probably going to need a new roof, little bit of chipped siding.

I'm terrified of my parents getting old and something like this happening to them. Not only would it be horrible to see them lose their independence but also I worry about being able to give them the care they deserve, being I am an only child I have no siblings to help take care of them. Hope he gets better soon.

Did a quick walk around before it got too dark after the storm, Luckily I can see 'all' of my roof without climbing up. The roof itself is looking pretty old, might have to have an inspector come out and try to find damage.

Not trying to diminsh your recent purchase (mega jealous). But if those pictures look that good I can't imagine the D800! Can't wait to see some more shots.
