  1. Really like the #1 shot. A cool experiment if you are in the same position again would be to throw a small pebble towards the right (or somewhere) so there is a small ripple so you can distinguish the water.
  2. Not sure if I read this on here or on a photo forum. But someone recommended a string 'tripod' for panning shots (if thats what you are wanting to do). I personally haven't tried it but its on my todo list. http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/31585.aspx
  3. Yeah that's not motion blur, just out of focus. Since you have plenty of shutter speed, try closing the aperture down to F8 or F11 and see where that puts your shutter speed? Anything over 1/250s should still give you an ok shutter speed to keep motion blur down but it will also be a little bit more forgiving on the depth of field.
  4. Great lookin dogs. I'd have to see what settings you are using but on first impression your shutter speed is plenty fast, it looks like you just aren't focusing on the dog. Not sure if the D3000 has a dynamic focus setting which would help. The other thing to try would be to focus on something (maybe have them stand or set something up) right at the point where they are going to jump. Focus on it, then switch to manual focus and don't touch it. Maybe some of the pro's have better tips.
  5. I plan on keeping my cars forever. RX-7 - I would have a hard time not selling it if someone came to me and said 'I'll give you 10k for it'. But no one ever will. Plus I have so much time and work on it. Also the car is so much fun and I don't owe anything on it. If I don't drive it, its not really a big deal. 06 Civic - def keeping it. paid off. Great daily driver. Figure I can at least get 300k miles if the body doesn't end up rusting around it. 04 Ram - This truck is hard to justify keeping around but I love it. I barely use it once a week or when I have to haul the car, 4wheelers anywhere, camping. But its such an awesome truck. Plus its getting increasingly hard to get this vintage truck that is still clean. Its paid off too and doesn't hurt just sitting. I don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon.
  6. Got to go to the mid-america truck show for work. Snapped a few outside between the rain drops. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/032412_2107.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/032412_2108.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/032412_2120.jpg Got to meet John Force, pretty cool. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Misc%20Photography/032412_2136.jpg
  7. I got a D3100 kit with the 18-55 and the 55-200, bag, memory card, blah blah. for $700 at Costco. I won't go into the lens I bought.
  8. They were $450. When I priced the exact same parts it was $350. Please show me different. Those wires aren't for the light. They are for the flapper for the 'brights'.
  9. I can give you the guy's contact info. It was very reasonably priced. He does FD headlights too....
  10. Thanks folks, 1 more. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/032112_2075.jpg
  11. So I had been playing around with the idea of doing an HID retrofit on the RX-7. If any of you have ever driven a car with sealed beam headlights you know how much they completely suck. I had sealed beam silverstars and they still really weren't great. A guy on the V8 RX7 forum makes a retrofit. Usually I prefer to do everything myself but from what I understand (and my calls to the retrofit source) is that even with the smallest projectors, I would have to buy an H4 conversion and still have to cut out the back of the headlamp and seal the projector with epoxy or something. Which from what I've seen they look like crap. The more important issue is that the projectors are long an require some sort of cutting behind to headlight to retain the pop-up function. The retrofit really wasn't that expensive when you consider the part costs (morimoto ballasts). I can genuinely say these are awesome. Just need to aim them now. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/LS1%20Swap%20into%20the%20RX-7/032012_2094_edited-1.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/LS1%20Swap%20into%20the%20RX-7/032012_2095_edited-1.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/LS1%20Swap%20into%20the%20RX-7/032012_2096_edited-1.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/LS1%20Swap%20into%20the%20RX-7/032012_2097.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/LS1%20Swap%20into%20the%20RX-7/032112_2092_edited-1.jpg
  12. I meant the image in general but ok. Long story behind that hood. Luckily still have the factory one.
  13. C&C Welcome 1. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/032112_2083vig.jpg 2. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/032112_2085.jpg 3. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/032112_2068.jpg 4. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/RX-7/032112_2089.jpg
  14. Depends on where you are in your life. If you have time and are legitimately going to use it twice a month or more....then it will be worth it. But keep in mind you won't use it as much as you think you will. If you don't have storage on your property, it sucks to pay to store it. How close are you to water? Personally, I got rid of my aquatic toys. I still enjoy renting a ski boat, party barge, or jetski at the lake nearby whenever I want to get out. But I don't have to worry about it later.
  15. I noticed that too before reading your post. just kinda walking in a half circle... Made me think of the guy in Chappelle show that was always dancing in the background.
  16. there is also a way to make a resistor so you don't have to disable VATS. But in general you need to pay someone to take it out of your ECM with hp tuners or such.
  17. I think the '02's had LS6 intakes. Would you be willing to sell that? Can you take a picture of the intake or post the Part number (its by the firing order) to confirm its an LS6 intake.
  18. Skip the duramax's. I genuinely like the Ford trucks but love the Cummins motor. I didn't want to get into a situation where I was swaping the Cummins into a Ford (not yet at least) so I gave the Dodges a shot. So far I really really love my truck. In terms of dodges, the 03-06 (maybe 07 too? can't remember) have common rail fuel systems, no egr, no aftertreatment (except for a simple cat for the 04.5 and newer), no ccv. I personally have an 04.5 with an NV5600 6 spd trans. I bought my truck from the North Texas Truck Stop in Dallas. It had 1 owner and 135k miles and I paid $15,500 for it. I paid about $250 for a plane ticket and the rest is history. I didn't buy it until I was there so if I didn't like it I could back out. I was lucky enough that a forum member from the Cummins forum that lived a few miles from the dealer went and took a look at it for me. Like any Texas truck it was rust free and absolutely perfect underneath. This year truck is pretty well sought after, I've been asked twice now if I would sell it. I got a 2wd really because I don't need 4x4 ( only ate my words once), so I take the fuel economy trade off, but more importantly don't have to worry as much about the ball joints and front end like on the 4x4's. Skip the auto trans. Look under the hood at the Fords, if you are going to do you own work the Cummins/Dodges have an advantage. Also, IMHO skip all the tuners and crap. In general all those boxes due is jack up your timing and up your rail pressure. The injectors in any of the common rail trucks are expensive and not worth the extra power unless you are going to be racing or something (I don't get it but whatever). I think the biggest source of failure for these fuel systems is not enough filtration. I've changed out the drop in filter with the 5 micron filter and then added a donaldson 3 micron filter after that, on a stock engine. This thing has plenty of power/torque already. Also, to help against rust, I bought the optional rear wheel wells to install. They are a factory option. Gives it a nice clean look from the side. To address John Bruh's comments on the 98.5 to 02, the injection pumps are actually decent. The problems are with the lift pumps. Once your lift pump goes out it takes out your injection pump. To remedy this, most of them run a warning light on a pressure switch. Once the pressure goes under the threshold (meaning your lift pump is out), you know to get it done asap. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/02.jpg
  19. Empire wanted $10,000 to do 250 sq-ft of laminate flooring. That said got it and going to do it myself.
  20. As damreds suggested in the other thread (I think she may have clicked on the wrong thread), D5100. I love my 3100, its a great entry level and if the 5100 wasn't around I Would suggest it. BUT it doesn't have bracketing which makes me sad.
  21. I didn't mean to pee in your Cherios, but its my opinion. I can also adjust picture brightness for free by changing settings on my monitor, lol. When it comes down to it, i guess its the level of your software expectations and how far you want to go. I know I personally hate learning new software of any kind and the ease of how-to's for photoshop is amazing. Heck you can even buy 'actions' for different effects if you want. You aren't going to change my mind and I'm not going to change yours. Lets compare apples to apples, photoshop has a free 30 day trial too. If you are going to spend the money do your research. $80 just doesn't seem like a big deal for me on software I use just about every day. Maybe I'm just not in touch with my old college student self.
