  1. That would be comprehensive insurance, with a car that old, she probably only carried liability insurance on it. No reason to pay premiums for comprehensive and collision coverage on an old car that's worth less than $3k or so. Glad you mom's ok Scott.
  2. Not diggin' the rear end, but I like the lines on the hood. Glass Roof option is cool too.
  3. When he was a puppy, Buster jumped our fence into the neighbor's yard and chased a squirrel up their tree. He plucked it off the trunk of the tree about 8' up, and started shaking it and flinging it around like a chew toy. He probably played with it for 10 or 15 minutes before my wife could bring herself to go get him back into our yard. She said that when she yelled at him when he first caught it, he kinda looked at her and tilted his head with that "look at what I got, aren't you proud!?" look on his face. My wife and I are glad he's got people that care so much for him. Wish we could have kept him, sounds like he's grown into a really fantastic dog.
  4. It's on Speed. They usually run a couple of episodes late at night.
  5. 1:45 here in Warren County. Got in line at 7:00. People coming out when I got in line had been there since 6:00.
  6. My '86 Firebird nearly overheated on me when I curbed the air dam underneath and ripped it off. I pulled what was left off and didn't think much of it until 20 minutes later my temp gauge was climbing and that was the only thing that changed. I went to Dave Gill and bought a new one, and that fixed the issue.
  7. Justice is served! Glad things worked out for you. I'd like to have been there to hear a judge say fuck from the bench...
  8. $4500 will get you my SV650 with $1800 in your pocket. 2001 w/31k miles. I love mine, but I want a cruiser now. Pros: Easy to ride Light Fun whether cruising down the highway or hitting the twisties Great for commuting, 50 mpg the norm. Cons: Not so great for 2 up riding Front suspension is soft for real aggressive riding Needs GSXR fork conversion to be an outstanding bike.
  9. Wish this was in my price range... Great looking bike! Good luck with the sale.
  10. http://www.racersedge411.com is one down here in Cincinnati. I've thought a couple of times about buying a bike to rebuild from there. They've got a Shadow Sabre there right now I've had my eye on.
  11. That's a good lookin' pick-em-up truck! I like the big horn edition.
  12. Definately enjoyed Chuck last night. I got into that show last season, and this season looks great!
  13. Passing this along to a friend. Looks cool, I wish I had the money myself.
  14. I don't know about other insurance companies, but where I work, I'm not allowed to purchase salvage because of the potential for a conflict of interests. As a matter of fact, I had to elevate through 3 levels of management to get someone to tell me beyond a shadow of a doubt that retaining the salvage on my Contour wouldn't put my job at risk.
  15. The only reason I could see (or have heard) for an insurance company to not offer the owner the option to retain the salvage on a totalled vehicle is if there is a lein holder involved. The insurance companies have an obligation to the lein holder to cover the collateral of the loan. If there is a lein against the vehicle, the insurance company works with the lein holder to secure the guarantee of title and such. The lein holder obviously won't let you do anything having to do with the title until they're paid off, and the insurance company won't settle a total loss in which you retain the salvage until they have proof that the vehicle's title has been placed in salvage status.
  16. My son is playing Pee-Wee football this year. We're almost 2/3 of the way through the season, and in the 3rd grade, we're (the coaches) not only keeping score, we're keeping team records, practicing numerous different plays, and keeping individual player stats. 3rd grade youth football is serious business down here in Southwest Ohio. My daughter (will turn 6 in two weeks) is playing soccer. The team she's playing on is a K-2nd grade team, and it shows. They don't formally keep score, but all the kids know when they've been whipped. At this level though, it really is more about the exposure to the game, and developing the basic fundamentals of how to play. I will say though that there is more emphasis on wins vs. losses down here than when my son played soccer at the same age in Columbus.
  17. If you look at the fine print, purchasing the inspection receipt also buys you 1 round trip registration. As long as you've got the receipt with you (you have to have it for the OHP to inspect the car anyway) you have a valid transportation registration on the day of the inspection, to and from the inspection facility.
  18. Those bumper covers go on like legos. Pretty cool that way.
  19. If you can find a shop that will give you a "contract price" to repair the vehicle that is under the vehicle value less the salvage value, your insurance company should have no problem cutting the check and calling the claim closed. For that matter, you can enter into a contract price agreement with the insurance company to keep the vehicle under the total loss threshold. My Contour was nearly totaled a few years ago due to hail damage, I told my insurance company I couldn't afford to let the vehicle total, and told them I would give them an agreed price for the damage, and there would be no supplement. I got my check in the mail a few days later. A year and a half ago, I hit a deer with the same car, and there was no getting around it, totalled. I had to go to the bmv and get the title status changed to "salvage". Took the salvage branded title to the ins. co. and got my check. I then went to U Pull and Pay, bought my parts (make sure you have the yard put the vin of the vehicle the parts are coming from on the invoice), then went to the bmv and bought a rebuilt salvage inspection receipt. Once you have the receipt, you can call the inspection station and set an appointment to have the inspection done. The whole process took about 3 months as the inspection station stays booked up weeks in advance. **edit** I started typing this at 1:30, then got sidetracked with work. Looks like 360Iroc already covered it for ya.
  20. It's pretty common down there for the burial site to have a concrete liner placed in the ground with a concrete lid sealed on top of the casket, then a big hunk of decorative concrete, granite, whatever placed over top of that. I've got family buried in Southwest Oklahoma, and all of the graves are like that. The top stone is visible, and a lot of them have the headstone info integerated with the lid.
  21. I was working at Brown's Fairfax Mazda in Fairfax, VA. Watched the second plane hit the WTC, then watched as 13 different fire companies drove past the dealership on Lee Hwy. 10-15 minutes later, I watched the reports about the Pentagon crash 15 miles away from where I was. I left work immediately to pick up my son from daycare. When I left work, they were still trying to land all US air traffic, and were reporting that there could be as many as 20 more hijacked flights with unknown targets. My mom was working at EDS in Herndon, the FAA shares property with EDS. Scary day for sure.
