Honestly, I commute on this bike, and I've never ridden a stock sv650 to know what I'm missing, so I've been very happy with it. It's got plenty of grunt for riding around town, and cruises 75 mph at 5000 rpm. Truthfully, if the previous owner hadn't told me about the sprocket swap, I'd have never guessed.

Previous owner was 140 pounds soaking wet, and changed the sproket out to help him keep the front end down during "spirited" riding. He also did some long distance riding, and the +1 sprocket up front helped out with the milage. It'll get 55 mpg on the highway, even with my substantially larger 200 lbs.

It's a little smaller than you're looking for, but I'd sell you mine for $2700. It's a 2001 SV650. Synthetic oil changes every 3k or less, rear tire was new a year ago by the previous owner. It's got a +1 front sprocket, and an a/m slip on pipe. It's got almost 31k miles, but it runs and rides flawlessly. Got a Legacy sedan from Thrifty when my (wife's) car was in the shop for bumper work two years ago.

Coming from a lay person and good photo noob. - I think the first one looks the better of the two. Second one is a little dark and looks like its got "hot spots" from the lights, maybe a diffuser of some sort would help?

I'd take the carbs off the bike and find a clean, uncluttered place to work. Carbs have lots of little screws and stuff that can be dropped and lost forever if you're not careful.

Good to know, I'll keep that in mind for when I need tires. Fortunately for me, the previous owner put new tires on mine at the end of last season. :thumbup:

2nd! I bought a 2001 SV650 about a month ago, and I love it! I've been riding mostly surface streets, and opening it up on the back roads, and I've been getting 49.5 mpg's. I think it'll get better once I get my full endorsement and can start riding on the highway. I've ridden my SV650 to work everyday for the last 2 and a half weeks, and have found it to be just about perfect for a commuter, as well as an entertaining ride when there isn't anything better to do.

That's where I live. It was an ugly storm last night, but the really nasty super cell that was headed directly for Morrow/Maineville pretty well broke up and was absorbed into a larger storm North of us just before it got to us. I watched all of the storm coverage last night, and now know more about hook echoes and super cells than I ever thought that I cared to.

The main things that need to be covered are the distributor/coil packs, the carb/air cleaner, and any computer modules under the hood. Other than that, you pretty well should be able spray on your degreaser then hit it with a pressure washer. That's what I've always done, and really haven't had any significant issue.

Point of Rocks, Md. and Loudoun County, Va is my old stomping grounds. I used to know most of the back roads in that area and headed west toward Purcellville and Round Hill, Va. I'll shoot you a pm when I know what my schedule is going to be when I'm down there.

I think it is Buckeye Unlimited that we used for all of our interior and convertible top work when I still lived in columbus. Always very easy to get along with, and good quality work too. They're off of Sancus if I recall.

I'm headed that way in July, Northern Va. area. I plan on spending some time riding around the poolesville, MD area while I'm there. Really pretty area.

If I put anything on it, it'll just be a small fly faring. I like the naked bike better than the S. It's a great bike though, very intuitive to ride.

Enterprise Truck will rent you a 1 ton pickup with a hitch, but they won't do one way.

I sure am glad I'm not driving that Suburban any more. $2.64/gallon would sound like a fantasy compared to what diesel prices are now. The cheapest I've seen diesel for around here recently is about $4.39! Hell, it takes $52 to fill my Contour from 1/8 tank now, and it's only a 12.5 gallon tank.

It looks great, little out of my price range though.
