The skeg guard is great if you are going to sell the boat. I wouldn't have one on mine, makes the ass end feel heavy and slippery, and you lose 2mph.

This is what happens when you use your drive as a depth finder.

What RPM does it pull? From what I remember, the solenoid itself is stupidly expensive, something like $55, new starter is the route to go.

I tell people keep the drive at trim limit whenever you are in a no wake zone or going on or off of the trailer, and you will never destroy a prop. I had a 42 Fountain out on buckeye for the little poker run last year, didn't tear anything up. For the green crud, go buy some Slimy Grimey. Not sure who all has it on the east side, but spray it on, let it sit 5 min and hose it off. Greatest scum remover in the world. Give me the numbers on the prop, looking for something like 14x17. Should be on the side, between the bades, or in the hub itself. If I have one that will work, you can have it free.

We have a lot of people call our shop with broken jet ski's. When I ask the brand name, the ones that come up all the time are; Sea Doo, Tigershark, Kawasaki, Honda. I have not had someone call with a broken Yamaha. Also, go to any marina. Look at their rental jet ski's. I have been to many lakes in different states. The marinas with RUNNING jet ski's always have Yamahas. You can't beat their reliability. Also, on the little jet boats, I like the Yamaha's over the Sea Doos. Split shifting is a thousand times more fun. The Yamahas may be a little slower, but ask any boater. Which is better, 5 mph more, or being able to use the thing whenever you want. Have been on the supercharged Sea Doos, probably have close to 50 hours, fun little thing. Wait until Vortech Superchargers releases their blower for the Kawasakis. Have towed a 28' twin engine V to Cumberland and back with the V8 trail blazer, wasn't great, wasn't bad. The 39' Outerlimits was way too much for that truck though.

Background info- Fountain power boats now holds the record for the fastest V bottom boat. A catamaran style boat is a lot faster. At 2:50 seconds into it, the other white boat is a 1.2 million dollar MTI, with twin 1550 hp whipple quad rotor big blocks in it. Will be in the Miami Vice movie. Threw a blower belt in this video, I have seen it push a little over 170 on radar. Reggie Fountain (ower of Fountain powerboats) claimed to only have twin 1500 hp engines to everyone, but last time I talked to him, he told me the old engines were well above 1800hp, and the new ones made the 1800's look weak. While people are on this topic, I have a question. I asked my eye doctor about laser eye surgery about a year ago. She said it works great for a while, and most people start to see their vision start to go back down after a few years. This is the first time I had heard this, and wasn't sure if it was correct, or is she just looking out for her job security? Anyone have any first hand knowledge?
