Rages or 2b BloodRunners (the Rages due some work, but I'm curious to try the BRs this year as well) -310fps @ 72lb. -296fps @ 65lb. (hunting weight) -HHA DS 5510 single pin sight -7" Octane stabilizer -QAD Ultra-Pro HD rest -Strings, cables and tune by Terminal Velocity Archery in Chillicothe (good dude) http://i54.tinypic.com/2laqb75.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2djck8g.jpg I'm shooting anything that doesn't have antlers tomorrow...unless I see a 140+ bruiser, in which case, he'll get shot too.
  2. Heading out in the morning. Will update with pics from the stand.
  3. I'm not quite sure what your argument is here... It may feel like that on your 'hand dyno', but .45 typically uses a slower burning powder compared to .40 and will give you more of a 'push' feeling, rather than a 'snap.' In a subcompact, its probably a bit harder to distinguish which is worse between the .45 and .40, but in general, .40 is known to to be a bit unpleasant. The difference between 9mm and .40 is obviously felt, which is what I originally stated, and what this thread is about.
  4. Personally, I'd carry the 26>27. I don't buy into the whole 9mm = wimpy theory. The person getting shot isn't going to feel the .050" difference in the 2 rounds, and 9mm penetration is just as adequate as .40. I'd rather have 2 more rounds, myself. Not to mention, .40 is a fairly snappy round and I'd rather not have to deal with that in a subcompact weapon. And as always...........go shoot both. Then decide.
  5. An older, better made one. Since the guy from Kimber went to Sig, they've had a notable decrease in quality.
  6. Recoil also has a lot to do with which gas system you run. If you plan on running a 20" bbl and want low recoil, find a bbl with a rifle length system on it. If you go with a 16"er, try to find one with a middy system on it. And they do have all sorts of spring, and pneumatic buffers if you want to play around with that as well. If you want to get really hardcore, start milling some chunks out of your carrier, and roll your own ammo.
  7. Thank you. As is .17hmr. Choose the proper caliber for your prey and either will do fine. There are many types of varmints out there and the majority of them weigh <5lb.
  8. Cmmg Inc. Bargain Bins are like $650, last time I checked. If you're wanting something basic, I'd just buy one of those and save my time trying to seek out the cheapest parts.
  9. I'm about 95% ready. I'll be in a tree @ 0700 with a camera or a bow. Either way, I can't wait.
  10. .223 is a .22cal......so technically he's not wrong. Most likely he's just confused.

  12. The show is rigged as all fuck. The producers have no desire to show who's the best shot, just how much drama they can stir up (imagine that). Word on the street is, they bought the shittiest guns and shittiest ammo they could find. The show is more about luck than being a good shot. Several of the worlds actual 'Top Shots' turned down the opportunity to be on the show because of this.
  13. In for this. I'm really disappointed in 2.2. It's laggy as all fuck. I want my 2.1 back. I need to root, but I'm a big dummy when it comes to this stuff.
  14. This. I believe it becomes classified as a short barrel rifle in its current configuration, and without a tax stamp, you're asking for a felony and a 10yr sentence that goes along with it. Take it off there and delete that pic.
  15. I guess you could consider the .454 Casull it's neutered brother...
  16. No, it has to be a straight-wall case; .45ACP is not. Straight wall: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:357_Magnum.jpghttp://airbornecombatengineer.typepad.com/photos/weapons_fireams/largerevolverrounds460ace.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:357_Magnum.jpg Rimless: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/96/9mmLuger.jpg/300px-9mmLuger.jpg Though I have no doubts about its ability to kill a deer with proper shot placement, it not legal in Ohio to do so.
  17. I believe the new motor they're going with is a 3.0L; a custom creation from smashing 2 modded Busa motors together. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/01-ariel-atom-500-v8.jpg ^^About $50,000 right there^^
  18. Not legally, in Ohio anyways. .357 or larger, straight-wall only.
  19. I suppose it depends on how much you value your time. This guy spent over 3 years of his life piecing that thing together, and still never got it right. To me, I'd rather spend 1/3 of the money, and have a fun project to work on, including all the headaches and frustration that come along with it. Short answer: Not a bargain, IMO, but worth it.
  20. The Atom 500 is rumored to be around $250k.
  21. I actually just read it all a couple weeks ago. The guy has a laundry list of bugs with the thing and eventually ends up selling it. If you were to try to duplicate it, it would be roughly $40,000 for the rolling chassis, $30,000 for the basic engine, and $16,000 for the Sadev sequential tranny, not to mention all the odds and ends. You're still talking close to $100k or so. FML.
  22. I agree; the women in the 2nd and last pictures need MUCH less clothing on.
