  1. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1458723&postcount=3 Any high mileage 2.0T FSI, you will want to make sure the cam follower/cams/fuel pump are in good condition. That is the only big issue with these cars. Carbon build up is an issue too, but can be cleaned for around $300. A few common issues are the PCV system and diverter valve, both very common and fairly cheap to fix. The 3.2 had serious carbon issues, and gives you zero benefits over the 2.0t, I would not consider them at all. PS, be careful with the states you mentioned finding cars in, they tend to be harder on cars, especially NYC.
  2. Sline wasn't available for 05.5, started in 06.
  3. That's what I figured. I am the same way. I lust after all of these 40k+ cars but know I could never spend the money on them, even though I could afford it. Cars like the gti and ms3 provide excellent $/fun ratios.
  4. The rumors are circling again, and seem to have more credibility, however as with anything vw says, seeing is believing.
  5. Any 50k german car will be expensive to maintain, including the e46 m3. Do some research on the s60r if you are still considering it. It is expensive to maintain (as to be expected) and are not fast. A lot of owners are experiencing huge maint costs and the car doesn't have the payoff other high maint cars have. Everyone has their priorities, anyone that spends 25k on a new gti or ms3 could just as easily bought a gto and beater, so drive a bunch of cars, and report back!
  6. Haha, good. I actually always like reading real world car reviews from open minded people, so I enjoy that. I just never got your economy car vs v part of the reviews.
  7. The mkiv gti was nice and all, however the mkv (2006 to 2009) was and is a great car, and the mkvi 2010 is a bit nicer still. They consistently beat the ms3 in comparison tests, but both are nice cars. I am a fanboy according to those here.
  8. For strict daily driving, a gti is hard to beat. 30+ mpg, handle great, pretty quick with a chip and have a nice interior, for your price, you can get a nice cpo 2009gti or maybe 2010. Look for the 08.5+ tsi engined ones.
  9. Clay, I like your reviews and all but what the hell is the point? If you are really comparing any of these compact toy cars to either gen cts v, I just don't get it.
  10. Did you go through the wendys drive through in gahanna for lunch? Saw a black accord with temp tags drive by. My wife and I were inside eating.
  11. Well, I figured the free part... oh well, either way, congrats.
  12. Holy shit, that's crazy, I would have ditched it too. Nice work. Set yourself up with a nice daily like that, and when its paid off, get something fun. Thinking about doing the same.
  13. Made chicken salad and ate it for the whole week with some crackers. Chili can do the same. Sandwiches Sometimes I grill chicken, make perogies etc. I go home every day for lunch though. Frozen pizzas can be cheap and all frozen meals, though I don't eat them anymore.
  14. Whore ass whore bitch Why didn't you let me get the panels I needed like you said you would. Whore Buy another one for me to do just that... Whore
  15. The golf/gti/beetle/sportwagen are all based off the german mkv platform, and are not specific to the us. The jetta and passat were americanized for greater slaes, and the passat is us specific. Not sure if the jetta is though.
  16. The flip side, clay, is for the 27k that the tdi costs, what car is as big, offers 40mpg and has a stick shift? Nice cars for sure, and with the large wheels, look very classy. I couldn't get the seat in the right spot, kept feeling like I would slide off the front, and its too bad the v6 doesn't offer awd. 35k for a loaded 280 hp awd dsg sedan would be bad ass! I really feel vw is missing some good awd options in cars. The passat requires euria refills where the jetta/golf/sportwagen do not. For the size, and price, its a fantastic car.
  17. Lame, changing rules is lame, luckily he buys fram, so th likelyhood his engine blows is significantly higher.
  18. Who thinks he will spend over 100 trying to win 100? Lol
