  1. Thanks for the thought. They called AAA, but said they can't commit to any time frame because of the weather. We were in Tiffin for my mom's families christmas and my wife and I left at 5pm, and it took us 2 hours, driving 10-30mph under the posted speed limits for most of the time because the roads are pretty slippery up north. My parents left at around 8pm, and obviously didn't make it too far. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
  2. My wife always says our dogs will live for another 19 years whenever we talk about how much it will suck when our first dog passes. According to her, 19 years from any day is when ours will go. It is truly a horrible thought to think about. I can only imagine what you are going through. Sorry to hear this, best wishes to you in your grieving process.
  3. My wife will want to see this, therefore I will see this. Facepalm
  4. I had them in twice when I was younger for the stated reasons of ear infections and likelyhood of seizures. No problems that I remember and my mom said I never had a problem and that they were a GREAT help.
  5. without a doubt. If you confuse people, they are less likely to figure it out and question or reject the terms.
  6. Do you honestly think that is complicated? Income tax is calculated using the same system. It might not be intuitive, but it isn't complicated.

    hahahahahaha You sir, congrats. haha
  8. Thanks for the help guys. So if we "hire" a buying realtor, we don't have to pay her anything? Her income is earned when we buy a house, and is paid by the seller. Is this correct? I don't particularly want a condo, the wife just likes the idea of getting a nicer place with our money.
  9. My wife and I are starting to think about taking advantage of the 8k tax credit again and had a few questions about realtors and buying in general. If we get a realtor, who pays them? Do we? The seller? etc Do you really need a buying realtor? How long does the average closing take? What downpayment do most lenders require? The last time I checked, 3.5% was what we were seeing. What would you guys do differently if you could buy your first house again? If you bought a condo for your first place, do you regret it? would you do it again? Any other first time home buying comments you have would be great. Just trying to get people's input so we can make the best decision. Thanks
  10. I initially had it in a pale yellow that showed up on my laptop. I just switched computers and I couldn't read it. I switched to the pales blue so everyone else could read it. hahahah My post makes more sense now.
  11. GTI>Speed3 :bangbang: All performance categories, Speed3>GTI
  12. Only get OEM filters regardless of the oil you buy. Full synthetic in the factory viscosity (0w40 I think). If it still has some powertrain warranty left, stick with a VW approved oil to prevent warranty issues. After the powertrain warranty is up, then its 100% up to you. I used M1 on my A4, Dad used it on his B6 S4, no problems. I am using Valvoline since Hatfield uses it for my free maint and will probably stick with it until the powertrain is up for reasons stated. Then I will be using a more serious oil.
  13. Supposedly they were going to be mandatory plates, but with the economic issues, they are now OPTIONAL!!!!!!!
  14. I read the WSJ article without being a member, don't know what happened. First post edited
  15. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20091218-710356.html Here is the AP article: DETROIT — General Motors Co. says it has repaid $1 billion of its loans to the U.S. government and $192 million to the Canadian government. The automaker says it followed through on a commitment to begin repaying the loans by the end of this month. Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre Jr. says in a statement that GM looks forward to repaying all of its loan balances by the end of June. He says the repayments are contingent on no downturns in the economy or GM's business. GM owes the U.S. government $52 billion, with $6.7 billion of that in loans. At least part of the rest will be repaid when GM issues stock, perhaps as soon as next year. The automaker also owes the Canadian and Ontario governments about $1.4 billion.
