  1. You should really be looking at what the GTI guys are doing too. Its the same engine and they tend to mod their cars much "faster" (time not speed) than the Audi guys do. There are quite a few big turbo 2.0Ts and like you said most do not have upgraded internals. The ones that do are putting out 400+whp and are not concerned with price. The supported K04's in the GTI's are putting out 300-330whp and the fastest ones are running mid 12s with FWD. The bigger turbos are putting out 350-650 depending on your sanity (and wallet). The new TSI engine in the 08.5+ GTI's has a high pressure fuel pump standard so I won't have to worry about that! My plans are Coilovers, brakes and a LSD until the warranty expires. Then doing rods and a BT for a 450whp goal!
  2. You can find TrailVoys with the 5.3 and leather for about 15k. The best one of the platform is the Saab 9-7X 5.3 which can be had with around 40k miles for 15k as well. They sell for over 50k new and look very good. I almost picked one up a few months ago but they all have a sunroof and it ate up too much headroom for me.
  3. I see what you did there lol
  4. Oh and my father in law just bought a 2005 Envoy XL V8 loaded with leather, sunroof, bose, flip down dvd and such with 90k miles for $12,000. I would consider your resale estimate high even considering the low miles. Be glad you leased it.
  5. I6, not V6. My moms 2002 RWD trailblazer is suprizingly quick. If it had a decent transmission behind it such as the new 6 speed auto it would be a great engine for the size of the SUV. However the 4 speed sucks all life out of the engine and truely sucks. The engine has good hp up top, but is in desperate need of more tq. Ours has been trouble free for 7 years and 90k miles. 2 brake jobs, 1 set of tires, and a broken spare tire lowerer thingy.
  6. Shaq to Cavs would make me an Instant Cleveland fan and I would drop all my money on as many tickets as I could afford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! List of who shaq will take to the championship: Kobe D-wade Lebron????
  7. I gave you shit about Kobe in that thread also. lol but I didn't give you negative rep for it. Its obviously a serious deal worth -repping lol
  8. Just because you don't want to call it one doesn't mean it isn't. Why are you getting so butt hurt about it not being a traditional manual? The new dual clutch automated manuals are fantastic and very efficient, very fast and easy to extract excellent results from. There is no explanation needed for owning a car with one. They are great, but in the end, an auto.
  9. Cars coming along nicely. Did you get your MAP ECU yet?
  10. Yeah I agree. Make sure you wash the car first, then clay, then wash again, then wax. Remember to get those MF cloths and towels though. A clay and wax should only take a few hours. 3 tops if your alone.
  11. Yeah there was quite a controversy with their transmissions and warranty claims. They did however revise the transmission programming for LC to allow it to be used under warranty, however it isn't as aggressive as it was initially.
  12. The driver mod comment was cocky!!! nice car man.
  13. You can do a few different things. use 2 buckets. One for the soapy water and one for "rinsing" the mit after using it on the car. In the "rinse" bucket pick up a grit guard (plastic thing that separates the grit that floats to the bottom from the rest of the water) You should also use a different mit for the lower part of the car. Most cars have rub strips, so use one mit for below that. Obviously start at the top, and work down. Most scratches are by pressing too hard on the mit, or using the wrong towels to dry. Get a few quality microfiber towels to dry the car with and don't press too hard. Other than that, clay bar, a good polish or two and a good wax are in order. Oh and some mf polishing cloths.
  14. As bigbird stated, if it doesn't have a clutch pedal and has a fully automatic mode, its an automatic. My old GTI DSG was a dual clutch automated manual as well, however it is an automatic. You can drive it like an automatic, just gas and go. Automatic mode and no clutch pedal. They just happen to be the only acceptable automatic, but an automatic nonetheless.
  15. I know. I was simply telling him that his experience is common. :asshole:
  16. Props to kobe and Phil. That yellow hat with the roman numeral X was bad ass!!! lol
  17. No he just had an all star supporting cast. They substituted Shaq for gasol, bynum and odum...........Throw in ariza and keep fisher. Doesn't sound like they downgraded much. And it did take him 7 years to win again. Gasol is simply amazing. He has become one of my all time favorite players. I am glad he is on a team that gets a lot of national air time so more people can see him play. The lakers have some decisions to make offseason but if they make the right ones, they could easily end up in the finals for the next few years.
  18. no problem. They look pretty cool.
  19. I know. We seem to actually like and value the same things when it comes to cars (for the most part). The Z06 is the cheapest way to get a remarkable car, but just as you stated, I would gladly give up some speed to get a more unique car. The 996 has slowly been dropping like a rock. It was the first real victim of the post 993 porsche hatred. It was never widely accepted by porsche nuts as with most of the cars if not all after the 993. The 996 is an incredible car though. You know all about them, just don't get an automatic. please, or I will be forced to only ask for 5 rides in it instead of dozens. The X50 with a chip would be an amazing value without a doubt.
  20. Cool. Considering you already have an S8, I would look at either the C6 S6 or the 996 turbo. The C6 C06's are down around the low 40s too. However it would pull you away for the glorious VAG cars.
  21. As for your test driving discovery, get used to it. It only seems to be the run of the mill brands that do that. Go into a Porsche, audi, vw, bmw, mercedes etc dealer and you will have no trouble getting to drive most if not all cars they make. However go into a subaru dealer and try to drive an STI......good luck. My dad went to drive an STI 3 times, once after owning a 1995 taurus, second time after a 2001 S4 and third time after a 2005 S4. All were cars bought new, the S4's were 42 and 52k respectively. He was about 50-58 years old over that span and was not allowed to drive an STI without financing and a the papers signed. What an absolute joke. We even tried to drive a 30k mile used version at byers and they wouldn't let us....... My dad and I both walked into MAG when they had the first S5 demo in Ohio and we each drove it by ourselves for over 30 minutes. This was about 3 months before the first S5 was expected to arrive for sale.
  22. understatement of the year....
  23. Not a fan of the lancer, but the GTR more than makes up for it. However....brown? really? lol Hope to see you out and about.
