  1. You drive a convertible.........and a toyota convertible at that. With the GTI gone, you are dead to me.
  2. If by something, you mean everything, then yes.
  3. I am interested in a ball park figure of price too if your wouldn't mind. My wife and I are starting our house hunt soon for this time next years purchase. PM me if you are sharing the price. House is a bit bigger than we want, but lot, and style are about perfect!!! Great looking house man!
  4. captain obvious....... First ever RWD Taurus SHO, not first ever RWD SHO powered car.
  5. Makes perfect sense. What change did everyone expect?
  6. your welcome for the thread.........lol almost posted it before I sent it to you. Its pretty sweet though.
  7. I really like the look of the car, besides the spoiler that is. Wheels really pull everything together.
  8. Agreed, wasn't thinking about that part of your argument. However I am strongly against the income based penalties.
  9. In many past threads you have given reasons and explanations why certain laws exist and that regardless of your opinion of them, they are still the law. Funny how you don't feel the same way here.
  10. Lets hope so, but I don't see that being true.
  11. I don't think the G8 looks amazing, but it looks pretty good. The Caprice makes the G8 look like a supermodel.
  12. One of the coolest cars I have seen in a long while.

exactly. It seems harder to find a mint gen 2 than a gen 1 now. Over the past year or two it seems every 3-6 months pops up a mint low mileage stock gen 1. It is very hard to find a mint low mileage gen 2, let alone one you know was taken care of (your own).

Oh, and this is all under the assumption that I don't come across a mint, stock, Gen 2 MTX in moonlight blue with either gray or black interior. If one comes along, then all the above garbage is out the window!!!!

Recently I made a deal with my wife......... Option 1: Keep my 2006 GTI DSG with 49k miles that was a bit rough around the edges for my sanity and get a project car (Gen 2 SHO) next summer. Option 2: Buy a new 2009 GTI 6mt and no project car. After thinking long and hard I went ahead with the 09 GTI. I love the car, got back into a manual transmission after a 2 year stint with the dual clutch automated manual, ordered the exact car I wanted and did not settle one bit on it. Of course this still didn't quench my SHO thirst, however with $1,500 in the 09 I can get coilovers and a chip and it will do everything better than any SHO short of the high HP F/I cars such as toolman's. I love seeing them, I love talking about them, but I don't ever think I will own another one. Its my "first love" in the car world, and I will always drool over them.
  16. The wooden steering wheel certainly classes up the cabin doesn't it.
  17. You without a doubt have the most unique cars I have ever seen. Very cool, but still cute.

I 100% agree. I would repaint it the factory color that came on the car. The only other acceptable alteration is repainting it another factory color of the same year. However then it requires a much more expensive paint job to do the engine bay etc. I really want to pick up a mint 89, and a mint 95. First and last of the great Tauri. Stupid being married and wanting a house and a future ruining all of my dreams lol:p
  19. awesome, thanks for the help. They seem to be a solid car for the money. Not too many performance oriented sedans you can pick up for 5 or 6 grand.
  20. I am glad I don't have this problem. Women can be like talking to the wall if they have already made a decision. Good luck though.
  21. Awesome, thanks for all of the info. How do you know? So I should add this as a replacement part if we buy one? We will probably give the car a once over after we buy it replacing belts, plugs, sensors etc that need it, so thanks for the info.
  22. thanks for the help guys. I don't like the sound of transmission problems though. I have been through that enough with my 3 Tauri. He is looking for one around 5 or 6k after negotiating, so we are looking at cars up to 8k asking. It seems pretty easy to get a solid 02 or 03 for that kind of money with under 60k miles. From what I have read over the years and from what you guys have said, the transmissions are the worst aspect of them. Anything else? What things should we be looking for when searching for one? Anything specific to the GTP? or just the usual stuff? If he goes cheaper, the GTP is the car, however I am trying to get him to look at a VW Rabbit. The 2006-2008 Rabbits can be had with around 20-45k miles for about 8-10k. They also come with full factory warranty and some are certified for 6 years and 74k miles total. However I don't know what he wants. Keep the info and suggestions coming. Thanks.
  23. My brother is in the market for a new car and a 2000-2003 GTP sedan is at the top of the list. Any place I can find out some more info for him would be great. Forums, opinions, anything. Thanks guys.
