  1. For people that use their car for more than cruising to and from work and putting around town, visibility, and being able to place the car is important. But you wouldn't know about that. :dumb: Good numbers for sure, 1le should be impressive. Price difference between gt is substantial though.
  2. From 100lbs heavier to 100lbs lighter than the s550. The new camaro is putting up some impressive numbers. I predict the 2017 Mustang will get a healthy refresh, and even things up. Not a fan of the looks in the mags though.
  3. I haven't done a TON of research on the trans strength, but it has come up in multiple threads I've read on the MT82. Is it really that big of an issue? Everything I've read, seems to say for these 500-650hp cars, it is good to hold that power. As stated below, only the ancilary things are questionable (feel, shifter placement, etc). I remember reading they changed some parts materials too, to make it better than in the s197. I'm not going to go deep into this car inside warranty, honestly probably won't touch the engine so its a moot point. I'll be doing handling and braking mods along with wheels/tires.
  4. Got dayum that's a pretty sight.
  5. Shrug indeed. All the GTIs since the MK5s have been about 3klbs for a base model. The MK6 R weighs from 3300 to about 3400 depending on option package or not, and 2 vs 4dr. Their statement isn't wrong, but there is lots of other weight added. Heavier brakes, bigger sways, etc...
  6. It's actually more like 250lbs. My MK6 R was 3300 even, base 2dr, but had leather, multifunction wheel, better head unit, headlight washers, etc. The base MK6 GTI is about 3000lbs, then add some of the luxury features, which you can't get exactly, and its 250lbs. Either way, I'm surprised nobody has a scaled MK7R yet.
  7. Yep. The mt82 having a body mounted shifter instead of a trans mounted is a lot of the problem.
  8. I'm not sure what you're talking about. The MT82 has been out since 2011, making tons of power. I know transmission swaps are common, when either encountering a bad MT82, or for the big $ spenders, but don't think it's the norm for the new 5.0s.

  10. You should be using legitimate websites, or dealers for a quality used car. Not some salvage title POS, that has mods thrown at it and 125k miles. See if Jordan at JET Auto can get you a clean car. 7k is more than enough.
  11. From what I've read, simple fluid, and shifter changes do wonders for the MT82. Also, it should easily hold that power, with the right clutch.
  12. much excite Bored sitting at home, wish I had a package like that to unwrap!
  13. FWD only. You don't need awd. Spend $300 on snow tires instead. Seriously.
  14. skip the VR6, its in older platforms, and not something I'd recommend. Look at the Jetta, or 4 door Golf with the 2.5 I5 engine. They can sound as good as the VR6, but are dead reliable. Get one with a 5 speed manual, and it's about as reliable a car as you can expect. Jettas started in 2005, and the Golfs in 2007. I'd try for a Golf 4dr.
  15. I think they have the vvti engine from the celica GTS with 180hp. Rare though. Set your sights on a Civic Si, or a VW rabbit 2.5 5 speed. Lots of room, and a hatch, and available in 4drs.
  16. Salvage title caliber with original tires, what could go wrong.
  17. 1979 Kanzler Coupe Newport Coachworks Santa Ana, California
  18. Nothing significantly. Just would be shocking if the VW is the lightest of the group LOL.
  19. Focus ST is 3200lbs. I'd expect 3300-3500lbs. Seems its the heaviest of its competition if so?
