Across the pond? :fa: -
Romney just called and he does not approve of this thread :gabe:
-
he didn't have a blank check book with $17T + dollars and counting. I heard if the election goes to Obama, Timex has a new Debt clock that goes to $27T ready to go so we have plenty of room and we'll be all set.
-
but they'll have health care I also I hear Obama is having some fancy EBT cards printed up and I suppose being unemployed they won't be as impacted by rising taxes like they could have been.
-
Bottom line financial health of the company has to come before giving two shits about the employees. Without the company there are no employees. This article isn't any surprise. If people didn't see this coming they are blind. No different than anything, if you take somethingn from someone, they will take it back in some fashion or another. Obama is a turd. Had to be said.

Perhaps and people speed down the secondary road where I live, however I am still at fault if I don't stop to insure the road is clear for me when pull out in front of them.
-
I LOL'd at that one. My follow up would have been "So if you didn't pull out in front of the airplane that just hit your SUV, please tell me your version of what happened..." :fuuuu:
-
READ the SIGN on the ROAD People! Stop, look both ways and if you see a plane coming, don't go forward. :dumb: Driver was a woman. Go figure. Sorry ladies of CR.

So a third party Equity Co. took over Delphi and the Fed gave them money to do their job and save Delphi. Ok. I follow. And the Fed did so with no provisions or terms related to keeping the jobs in the states so in the end if those jobs were outsourced, no one should really be surprised. Again, not the job of an Equity co. to worry about who's doing the work, but it is interesting the Fed subsidized them to get the job done with what appears to be at any cost. Ok, I follow that too. Now the Fed/Dems gave this money to Elliot a known Republican supporter who then in turn got more investment money from Romney. Okay, I follow that too, Dems gave money to someone who was less than appreciative of them doing so and more appreciative to the Republicans and namely Romney who further funded their investment to save Delphi. I do like how Fortune calls Elliot (The Guy the Treasury hired to do this) as a vulture investor. Why, because he does what, negotiates deals from a position of strength and makes money? Yeah, how horrible. At least they hired a savvy guy. So unlike the dems who used Federal money to "save" the auto industry and paid Elliot in hopes for him supporting them are trying to "spin" the fact that Romney also funded him but with his own checkbook? How's what he did any different other than this guy obviously prefers to support the republicans who gave less money? I follow that too....sounds like the dems got burned and aren't happy about it so they are trying to spin it as if Romney did something wrong. They aren't happy because they see a Republican who's betting on this deal working out and potentially making money from it. Damn this shit they call captialism! The article then goes on to show again how more capital venture groups who support the republicans bought up more of the bad debt at pennies on the dollar and made huge profits over the course of the next couple years. What cracks me up is they spin this as "as courtesy of the US Taxpayer" ??? I'm confused, so the Fed can give money to a private equity company with no real strings attached to go save a key company that's part of the auto bailout yet they criticize them for making a shit ton of money in the process and then try and say somehow that because they did so with TARP money the gov't gave them it's wrong? WOW! Sounds to me like a serious case of gov't butt-hurt. If the gov't was so smart why didn't they just do all these things on their own with their own "smart" savvy financial minds? One more time....so now that the equity firm got Delphi back in the black and had it trading well and in turn managed to effectively do their job and 4x their investment that too is being spun as wrong? So next GM who was effectively saved by the Treasury again, without obviously knowing how to control the beast they were funding forgave some money and the investors once again profited and all this was essentially something the gov't created and made possible. Sounds to me like the Govt fucked up big time and allowed some profits to be made without covering their own basis very well. Perhaps they learned how to structure deals and protection for future dealings that may be similar. I won't hold my breath though. The "piracy" and strong arm tactics used by the Delphi fund managers sounds like they created the perfect storm and again, the Gov't didn't realize that when swimming with sharks that can win you will get bit if you have NO CLUE WTF you're doing. Key being NOT HAVING A FUCKING CLUE on what they are doing. I laugh a how they call these equity companies and people "Romney's job creators" when in fact the gov't is the one that hired them in the first place. Romney didn't have anything to do with that decision. Those equity investors did their job and made money doing it. Hey, like it or not, this whole deal so far proves that the current administration has no idea how business is done nor how to effectively control the sharks they deployed to achieve said goals. Romney absolutely understands how it's done and stands a way better chance of not fucking it up like the Dems did. Obama rightfully really is to blame for those workers losing their pensions as his decision to bring in who he did and lack of agreements on how the deals were to have been done is with his administration. I don't agree with all or how it all ended up but again, put someone in charge who hasn't a fucking clue and that's what you get. He put in the majority of the money and just because Mitt put in a few bucks doesn't means he's at all liable for what transpired. It wasn't his firm nor was he anything more than 1/12th the investor the gov't was. Mitt had no decision power at Bain during the sale of Delphi in 2009. In fact his severance package expired in 2009. Just because he was invested in Elliotts firm doesn't make him wrong. He's allowed to invest just like anyone else and again, the Fed gave that same firm the TARP Money and should have better outlined what they wanted the deals to look like if they knew some potentially bad things could have gone down. Once again, it's a crime to know how to make money in the US and take advantage of all the legal rules in place and if Obama and company were going to indeed bailout the auto industry, yes, he did the American Business thing to do and got his piece of the pie. OMG how horrible. Again with this darn capitalism. You can't blame Romney. He wasn't President at that time. Perhaps he should have been? Or perhaps we should have put a President in place who knew what the hell he was doing and how the bailout money was to be used. Someone who knows how business is done. Reason 1,234 to send Obama home.

If you enjoy looking at some nice work, this year is no exception. UK Edition but then I'm always intrigued by what lies across the pond. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/uknews/9640813/Landscape-Photographer-of-the-Year-Awards-2012.html?frame=2381849 Sneak Peak of a cool capture. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02382/AC_0026243_Russell_2382132k.jpg

I have copies of the DVD Set for P90x and will see if these "backups" will in turn copy again. They should? I also have them in smaller format already for playing on my iPad while traveling. Insert my embarrassed face for needing to use them I'll PM You shortly.

Apple has never been a company that will play price wars. Nor do they need to. I think it was a smart move to price it at $329 as they can always reap the profits then drop the price.

Depends on the purpose. If the wife limited my choices and toys, I'd take my Glock 19 or as already noted a pistol that's reliable and good all around. If it was for home protection, I'll take my 12ga. versatile as all hell. Zombie gun, I'd likely choose an M4 though I've not had much experience with one outside shooting my brother in laws.

In further follow up since you have shared so much about your life and make it out to be all shit that's happened to you. You do have the same choices and opportunities as me: We both chose to get married. Obviously how we handled the marraige turned out differently. I'm going on 23yrs. You went through a divorce and are #2 ? We both chose to have kids, you had 5, not sure of the timing. My wife & I had 2, 14yrs after getting married and 3 college degrees between us later. We both owned businesses. You had two that didn't work? We had three plus my career and with her retirement, two are still going strong in addition to my full time gig/career. We both own homes. We bought well below our means and worked to pay it off. Not sure where you stand but you mentioned having a mortgage. We both own multiple cars. Can't say about yours outside payments, we own ours and don't plan on making payments any more. Leased early on to mitigated risks and have fun but own now. Nothing fancy as it's not needed. You grew up in the hood and while I was in a middle class are of Cleveland in the 80's I grew up in a family of immigrants who made what they had. My wife's parents were farmers in SE Ohio living off not a lot and even had an out-house. We paid most of her education but do have some student loans for law school left. You have Diabetes, I went through major back surgery. I've never come close to death though so you're one up on me. In the end, I point all this out because we did / do have the same choices and a lot more in common than you think. Also, since you've shared some personal notes, I thought it only fair to do the same.

Interesting..... So to answer your last questions "And that is my fault?" I'll answer it with a question....who's fault is it? Why isn't it yours to own? Do you really not own your own life situation and feel it's all a pity party for you? Do you really not believe you have options to change your situation? WOW....I'll leave it at that. Really, and I'm not being condescending. You need to spend some money and get a life coach. True story and not a shameful thing. There are such things in life and they will help guide you. My wife spent about $3,500 for a personal coach after reaching plateau in her career after about 5 years and it was a tremendous investment that had huge ROI. 1), you have to own all that. You lead me to believe through your posts that you don't and that somehow life has happened to you. 2), you're right, your situation isn't any different than the majority of Americans. The difference is in the ones who come out of it on their own move forward and many don't. You choose which group to belong to. You want savings, I can't create that for you. I will say pay yourself in savings first. If you can't I will tell you that you need to make it so you can, as you don't have the luxury Obama seems to have in a blank checkbook or passing on debt to the next guy. (trying to keep it on topic) Even there both you and him need to begin to make adjustments otherwise, I can assure you nothing will change. Again, a choice for you to make. We agree? The world just stopped did you feel it? :gabe:

So you never had the opportunity to go to high school? Never had the opportunity to get GED if you didn't? You never had the opportunity to suck it up and get good grades to catch a break in tuition? In the end people in much worse positions than you have made it, so while I'm stuck in my world, you need to get over your own situation and thinking it's the worst out there and that bad things happen to you. Things don't just happen to you they actually happen because of you too. Which world you choose to live in is your choosing. You're right, I've never skipped on a bill and do believe that it's up to each of us to insure we don't put ourselves in such a position. The conversation we had was regarding a guy getting traffic ticket. They own that not anyone else. If you seriously can't pay a fucking ticket, don't speed. No sympathy on those points. Again, much of what we bantered about regarding this issue was related to stupid acts that put people in difficult spots. I remember watching a guy in court one plead with a judge not to take his license and screw up his life like that....and the judge promptly replied that he did that to himself and to not forget it. My grand father and brought my dad from italy and dug ditches back in his day. My father worked his way up to what he and my mother have. Like you, been there/done that. You'd be surprised. I'm not sure why you think I come off as snobby. I come off as a dick about being accountable, but then that's life. It's what you make of it not what you wait around to have happen that counts. True, but again, the conversations we've had about this subject were about red light tickets where people put themselves in that position. Just because the city comes knocking for tax dollars doesn't negate the fact that they ran the red light or failed to pay those parking tickets. Nothing personal as I've noted before to you in my previous posts. Not place to comment on you nor am I. However, how you bounce back from a lay off, choices you made in business, choices to have kids regardless of number and how you handle a relationship are all on you and your choices. Those aren't hard times that just happened to you. I'm quite certain you didn't plan for any of that. However, that doesn't mean you couldn't have planned better or handled those situations differently. I would hope you lived and learned. You DID have the ability of planning in all of those cases. Planning isn't a luxury either. It's not something that's difficult to obtain. Time & thought is all it is. Last I checked, we're both pissing away time and thought on CR so yes, you do have both just the same as me. Well good on not voting for him but the choice is all yours. I too live in the real world and just because my life doesn't encompass all that yours doesn't doesn't mean I'm out in left field. I'll gladly argue quite the contrary but don't feel we need to go there.

In your post in this thread you stated "His life has been perfectly planned from day 1 and he has never been put in a tight spot" and that's not true. We've made it through some tough times. Although I've never been in a position where we negated to pay a debt we owed. Even with my back surgery, we made due and even made payments. It likely goes without saying, but that's a position you need to change. If you don't act on doing so, then I stand by my point that you will have continued to fail to plan and it will be your own fault should you be in a position of hard times again. Don't get me wrong, I'm sympathetic with tough times as are most people. Just the same though I expect them to be accountable for their own actions and bills. Some handouts, with manageable times frames are needed but they also need to have some responsibility attached to them so people don't make them a way of life. If we don't encourage and force that change it won't happen and then we are just as guilty.
