  1. Watch my TED video I just posted and then come back to me with how Apple is just "lucky" They are not just lucky. I've had the pleasure of working with them on the integration of iPads in our organization and know "why" they are able to be so successful here. We started with my group with only 50 deployed. Now we are at over 500 deployed and doing well and working perfectly. Apple is "Listening" to our needs where the various Android developers can barely stop talking about themselves let alone figure out how to meet our needs. Simplicity is why the iPod and iPhone are so successful. The masses out there don't want to be techno geeks. We just want thigns to plug and play. Thus why even USB devices took off with that whole plug and play notion.
  2. Great video. If you have a chance to attend the TED conference, do it. It's a great time.
  3. I find the comment "Apple’s lawsuits claiming patent infringement are spurred by jealousy and anxiety over the growth of Google’s Android platform." Rather juvinile. I've yet to see a corporation sue for jealousy or anxiety. I think Apple is quite comfortable being as profitable and successful with their products as they are. I think apple has made it clear through their go to market strategy that they are going after a sub-set of buyers who agree with their philosphy and "why" vs the "what" that the Android makers are targeting. It's also clear to me that Apple isn't pursuing the trophy of being the biggest in terms of marketshare. They never really have. They are out to be the most profitable. As a business owner, I agree with that approach. Really? That's funny because while there were perhaps other phones that were similar to the iPhone in looks and features, it wasn't until Apple came along and branded their device that the market really responded with the growth that has boomed and in turn compares everything under the sun to what they created....the iPhone and iPad. Very simliar to the line in the movie The Social Network where he tells the opposition that "if they had invented Facebook, they would have invented Facebook" Same thing back in 2001 when the iPod came to market. Panasonic, Sony, etc...all had digital devices, but failed to create a brand and such a cult following out of them. Is the iPod the best device technically? Doesn't fucking matter, innovation isn't just about "what" it's about creating a culture to buy in too. Lot's of successful ideas and great products fail because their creators fail to deliver. Google and Android developers need to turn off the technical part of their brain and instead of trying to deliver a better widget, instead try and figure out what people are looking for and more importantly why they should buy it. Products designed to meet price-points and mass marketing lead to a much more difficult profitability achievement and result in a pricey business model to support. I don't see too much about what Apple coming out with new products and being shown to be chasing the innovation of anyone else. Typically they are the benchmark for comparisons. I can't speak to the techy mumbo-jumbo of the patents, but again, I believe it's just political posturing of some sort.
  4. it sounds like typical business posturing. follow the money that those here are chasing and the answer will be in the pot of gold at the end of the trail.
  5. Can appreciate it, but still not a fan of the GTR. There's a white storm-trooper styled one floating around Dublin and I just can't dig the looks. No doubt the one here moves out though.
  6. Nice introduction and very nice car. One of the cleanest posted here recently.
  7. Fixed by adding a few pics from C&C a few weeks ago that seem to match what you're talking about. I think these two cars look great. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/135670452/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/135670453/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/135675429/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/135673001/original.jpg
  8. I'm good to go if you ever want to head out.
  9. You the your passion along with Ray and others here have taking the board to a level beyond it's origins. Well done and to be respected. Can't wait to see you cross off the next goal. Welcome to Columbus Atomic Fusion...... I mean Columbus Racing.
  10. Little further into a role at 4 sec. and his life would have likely ended right there. New to me.
  11. Skills for sure. A couple good DSLR's a glidecam stabilizer and a cinevate slider make for a good combination when in the right hands.
  12. My MS3 is 15% ? on the back, 35% on the rears and 50% on the fronts, with black interior and IMO looks great. Can't hardly tell they are different. Drove it to work today and it's baking in the sun now. Helps a lot.
  13. An LLC for CR would not be a bullet proof vest for a lawsuit as related to the various cases discussed here. The intent of the law behind the establishment of LLC's back in the late 70's and through today is to allow individuals to conduct their financial and business affairs in a more efficient manner. LLC's are also targeted at protecting personal assets. That doesn't mean you won't have to pay to defend yourself when you are served. You will and in the cases discussed here, it won't be cheap. There are exceptions too. A member of an LLC can be held personally liable for many different types of claims including the omission of a member. I would challenge the role of a moderator or admin here. What's their role in the operation of CR and were they included in the establishment of the LLC? Could CR be liable for negligent hiring? Very likely and most definitely something Anthony would have to defend against. LLC protections also do not apply entirely in cases where the members own negligence, fraud or illegal activity causes death in a criminal act. Every member who actively participates in the operation of the LLC runs the risk that his actions or lack of action will result in personal liability. Beware mods. This is particularly a risk of a service business in which the members provide the key service. How would you define the core of CR's service? It would leave it open to loop holes. You can't operate this board in a reckless manner and expect an LLC to protect you. No different than operating a club and expecting an LLC to protect you against illegal activity inside.
  14. I don't need the details. I'm 100% confident she was a part of the instances that resulted in a little girl being killed, duck taped up and dump in shallow grave. She knows what happened and she has been lying about it since. IMO, not guilty doesn't mean shit. She's certainly not innocent and if you're not innocent you're guilty. She should be living in jail. However, looking at the entire thing, perhaps living on edge and looking over her shoulder here on out and not likely having a resemblance of a normal free life, is punishment. Perhaps/hopefully even a death sentence.
  15. Stories like this that are not complete are useless IMO.
  16. +200 on Andy and his work. I can't imagine doing that work in this heat and humidity either. I walked outside for about 30 seconds just to pick up the paper and feel like I need another shower. :dumb:
  17. I've always liked that car. The wheels, the stance, the color. Looks great. Hood wise, meh....don't love it, but if that's the worst thing about the car then I'd say who gives a.... I bet it's fun.
  18. Not sure why you took my comments that way I wasn't being condescending. Just as you had a statement followed by a question, I stated a fact answering your question and followed it up with supporting details as to what caused the underexposure. That is all. However by your use of the statement and a question within a single sentence with a comma vs. two separate sentences it is completely plausible and grammatically correct to assume you did mean the underexposure was as a result of the camera being used. In terms of photography related topics here on CR I don't think I have ever treated anyone as if they are flat out stupid. I've always supported those with an interest in a very constructive manner and drove the creation of the digital darkroom for just that reason.
  19. I wouldn't say that man. My good friend Penney is a class act and just went to pro lenses in 2008. Prior to that she shot film and digital, and used many of those same old school consumer grade lenses for her shoots. It's about the lighting. Look through her stuff, go back to 2008 and look at her work. Consumer grade glass with an 8mp Canon 20D. I do a lot of reception work with her. She shoots the weddings, goes home and I take over from there. We trade off a lot of work together. Great photography. I'm a 2/10 compared to her. http://adlerhouse.com/ I hear ya. I didn't read the post until around 9pm or else I would have shown up there too. The MS3 was clean and I was itching to get out. Here's the best I could do with the second image given it's a highly compressed low res jpeg. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/136489654/original
  20. It's not the camera. FWIW, he's using a 10yr old D60. It's a decent camera. The exposure appears to have been caused because he was in full manual mode and had the shutter speed too high. 1/350th on those shots when he easily could have gotten away with 1/125th at that 70mm range. If they were shot RAW, it can be fixed without much issue. I can probably even fix the jpeg. More to come. Overall, the shots of Wagner's car work mainly because of the angle. Again, getting low like that is one technique that works.
  21. 100% Crop from a photo http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/136477038/original.jpg
  22. Where in NYC ? Will you have wheels?
  23. Sorry. We had something come up with family that resulted in a trip up north for the morning.
  24. My little ones are the main reason I have cameras. Nice job.
