  1. There's likely cinder block just below the mantle and a header right above it. Here's what ours looked liked after we demo'd it and put the framing in for what would be our new drywall (we removed the fireplace all together) thus why you see it bricked up all the way. You can see the old cinder then the header above that. Farther up it's just standard wall framing. https://goo.gl/photos/uLeADFtnNJMYcYca9
  2. Looked at them heavily but held off due to size of the rooms we needed done as they move slow. We can chat at CC&C in the morning if you're there. I'll see if I can dig up the sites I used as a review center.
  3. All the great performance involved, I've maybe once seen anyone driving one on the streets of Columbus, ever lean into it hard regularly. That was a silver or gray one around Easton area and I see him occasionally. Most everyone else I've seen appear to be just average people commuting around town.
  4. Steam is HUGE when it comes to cutting through grime and gunk. Way better IMO than any chemicals. I do use a mild APC for spot treatments. With Steam you do have to be careful around electronics and on leather. Even plastics to an extent because they can delaminate or peel. When used properly though, the dirt melts away. This van litterally dripped what looked like root beer from every surface. Yeah....it was that bad. I dumped the extracted water out at the curb The big benefit to steam is that it absolutely kills germs and removes odors. It can penetrate deep too so it goes farther in both cases than most anything. Extracting gunk after a steamer is far better than without one. Key after is that you can run a steamer over the surface again, then wipe with a white towel to remove any crud brought to the surface and that "wicks" it's way up.
  5. I know, I know, the before pics would have been awesome to have, but it was too late and I was too focused on just getting it in process. Steamer wise I have a Dupray as my main unit and a McCulloch 1385 as a backup. I use the 1385 inside the house more than on vehicles but it's nice to have both. haha! speckled is a kind word to use. IMO it looks like the kids had all shook up their cans of soda and let them loose in the vehicle Glad I could help out Matt and glad the kids are now in a clean ride.
  6. So Matt aka Turbs3000 here on CR picked up a new to him 2010 VW Minivan aka a Chrysler Town and Country wearing VW Badges and wanted it cleaned up inside. He got an awesome deal on a 115,000 mile vehicle but the downside is that it was completely trashed inside. It was recently repossessed so go figure. It had several clear signs of abuse. Looked like a kids baseball team frequently road inside after their games and never changed their clothes or shoes It clearly had windows and sunroof left open and lots of water and dirt stains Lots of sprayed soda's and juice from the headliner to the floor. Overall the only thing going for it was that it appears to have had front floor matts for part of it's life but otherwise, it needed a through cleaning and disinfecting. Process involved: Steam, steam and more steam. Steam makes easy work of most dirt and grime emulsifying oils and crud so that it can be extracted or wiped away. In this case the steamer was paired with an extractor and a couple dozen MF Towels too. 3 rounds of Ozone treatments, 2hrs each, including a nice cycling of the HVAC to kill any bacteria there. Leather treatment applied I didn't get any before pics as it was dropped off late in the day and the detail was done in the evening. However, picture a very grimey dirt laden vehicle with several cans of coke sprayed inside. Yeah, it was that bad. All that really counts is the end result which turned out quite well. Many thanks to Matt and his wife for trusting me with their new ride. Once they swap out some bits and parts from their 09 VW Van he may consider a detail for the outside too. I look forward to turning that like new as well. Until then enjoy the clean and fresh interior! 7. neighbor just bought this one and loved it on the vacation they just took. Not the brightest lens for low light but it's quality, is waterproof and small.
  8. That didn't take long via PM. http://www.insectidentification.org/pictureviewer/insect-pic-detail.asp?identification=Diogmites-Robber-Fly&sCurrentPic=pic2
  9. Have had a couple of these big ass looking things flying in my garage at night while working on cars. I've watched them attack flies and moths catching them in mid air and then eating them. WOW! They are pretty big too. Like a mini remote control device when they fly as I can hear their wings. Never had one bite or land on me but they aren't bashful about flying low. Not like most where they hug the ceilings and walls. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165956370/original.jpg
  10. Thank you sir! Supercharged Discovery. IIRC the next model up is the Discovery Sport. I don't know for sure though. Been reading about them and so far it seems they are plagued with reliability issues thus unless it has warranty I'd steer clear. That said, this one is still pimp and super nice.
  11. I agree. Was going to pull the trigger on one as a company car prior to the switch to our current allowance instead. Was one of the better values out there and was indeed less money and a better value than the GS at that time.
  12. Looks like what the Chrysler 200S wanted to be when it grew a pair and fucked an Audi S3 for it's dash and spawned some nice GM Seats. Buick has been making some nice stuff for a few years. Damn, I must really be getting old
  13. Wet sand with 800, then 1500, 3000. Break out the buffer and the headlight polish I have and seal them up with a good UV Protectant. Hit me up, I can help. May take an hour or so depending. If we can pull them off that would be awesome. If it's a PIA I can do it on the car. I've done a number of restores.
  14. Jaw dropping like yours was though. Nearly the same color.
  15. Consider this initial post a place holder as later this morning I intend to get real pics vs. cell pics. All I can say is DAMN! this thing is nice. It's a 2012 with only 35k on the odometer and while I have no idea what it sold for, I can say it's likely worth it. HUGE power, ultra luxurious, quiet like a coffin and this exact one inside looks just like new. This is what my wife and I should move into as our replacement for the minivan now that the kids are older. Definitely on my list of shopping now. Came to me as a referral from a previous customer and swirled to death. The owner tries to keep it clean but the wheels/brake dust are a huge issue. The fronts aren't just dirty, what's shown is etched into the clearn on the wheels - or at least was. PIA to clean up but they did so very nicely. More to come on that. Until then, this baby is now a true black metallic and sparkles like a clear summer sky. Very cool metallic that is hard to capture in a way that shows it's true beauty. 100% correction achieved and sealed up with two coats of Ceramic Coating to protect her day-forward. Look for more / updated pics later today. As received: http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165925846/original.jpg She cleaned up nicely though http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926602/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926603/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926608/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926607/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926606/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165926605/original.jpg Beautiful Paint that is remarkably clear: Better be for the money right? http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165925848/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165925849/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165925850/original.jpg I love the flake. Hopefully today's weather is nice and allows me to capture it better. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/165925847/original.jpg Stay tuned for a real beauty. Definitely a great ride.
  16. You had some great weather this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the progress!
  17. Cars are gathering there now...
  18. I probably won't be able to do cars and coffee but I may go tonight there's a certain blue Subaru on CR that always rumbles by my house that needs some Audi love. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  19. Not in model year but in advancements and technology/design. Both have gotten long in the tooth and complacent.
  20. Kerry, if you want to think I'm playing tough guy then that's on you. I don't expect you or others to perhaps agree or like my blunt opinion on the matter. Call me an asshole for it even, that's okay. You might be right, I'm an asshole in terms of my opinion vs yours but it's not something I'm going to apologize for because it's what I believe. We as a country need to end the bullshit pansy playing when it comes to trying to mold an entire society around a fraction of a percent of our population that has a disorder like this. It's not discriminatory, it's just plain practicle. I think in a country of 350M we'll be fine if we don't cater to the 6,500 or so that they "say" are enlisted. I'll also leave the value of them being in the military to those that they serve with to decide. Their "coworkers" who have to live and die and trust their lives to them and have to put up with the challenges that come with them hold more of a value to the decision than liberal elites that think there's a reason to spend money on GI Jane.
  21. Not in the case of transgender freaks. Time to draw a line when it comes to shit like this. Acceptance of disorders like this is one thing but there's zero benefit in committing resources for it in the military. We dont need to change all of society for weirdness crap like this to create a charade so people who are clearly abnormal feel they aren't. Stop the bullshit already. 22. How i feel is that's a problem i wish i had. If anyone needs me to help keep their exotic running smoothly just call. My right foot hasn't met a go-pedal it doesn't like Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
  23. We shouldn't be paying for any of it. Including the meds that are involved. The stupidity around .2% of the population is out of control. If they are are walking around with tits and want to shower at the gym they need to go wash up in the ladies room. If they have a dick but mentally thunk they are a girl and want to piss they need to use the mens room. If available use the single toilet family one if available. 24. I agree that the individuals should be the ones paying for their meds and "transition" No reason the federal gov't should be using public money to pay for it.
