  1. buy a new car--just my opinion. if you're buying a luxury car, i wouldn't want someone's sloppy seconds. buy a brand new one with a 5 year/100k warranty. sure, you could get a used car with issues for cheaper, but part of buying a luxury car is making a statement, if you ask me. do you want that statement to be "i bought someone's used, farted in, car, because i could not afford a new one" or do you want to tell people "i can afford a new luxury car, look at how fucking awesome i am"
  2. worst car ever in every category possible---'93 ford tempo my GTO does everything i want it to, is comfortable as hell, and pretty much stock
  3. love the color and the wheels on this car. i've always wanted one of these rx-7's, but my wife is not budging right now. good luck with the sale
  4. welcome to the site, who cares that you have an intercooler with no turbo--no big deal. good that you come to the meets. again, welcome
  5. thanks, just ordered one. just what i needed, a third floor jack and set of jack stands
  6. i remember the boostang from svtperformance.com welcome to the site. white vette looks absolutely amazing
  7. i actually saw the episode of wife swap that they were on---don't ask bottom line is that the father was fairly nuts on the show, and its definitely worth watching. no doubt they were just doing it for attention
  8. rubber elbow from home depot, connected to 4" PVC pipe=endless possibilities
  9. kurt, we all realize that tomorrow is not promised---but decisions made today can have longterm consequences. buying a clean new edge GT and modding the piss out of it is not in this kid's future, and most everyone here knew it. we were just trying to prevent him from making a monstrous mistake. here's the simple math on what this kid had planned '03 GT--$9k built motor--$4k power adder--$4k driveline fortification (clutch/tranny/rear end)--$3k suspension/wheels/tires/misc--$3k tuning/installation fees/interior/guages--$3k broken parts $?? that's $26k and we haven't even calculated broken parts we're not done yet wait for it wait for it insurance (full coverage) on this gem of a vehicle for 2 years at $14k per year $28k so including purchase price, he's looking at spending $54k on a car over the course of 2 years. and how much do you think he'll be able to sell it for at the end of those 2 years?? $16k at best---that's a net loss of $38k over the course of 2 years to drive this car if he wants to go the smart way, i would buy a 4cylinder notchback from florida in great condition 4 cylinder 1990 notch in great shape---$2k wrecked GT fox mustang with complete drivetrain---$1500 i won't go through the rest, but you can imagine the insurance on a 20 year old 4cylinder will be cheap, and fox parts are a dime a dozen this is your best bet kid
  10. this is sig worthy. no offense to the original poster, but there will be plenty of time in life for fast cars. if you're serious about becoming an engineer, make it through college with the degree, then you will find a good job and have money to buy toys. patience is going to be the key.
  11. interesting theory. do you honestly think you can do anything to a new edge GT for $3k?? built motor would cost much more supercharger would cost more again, your information is quite flawed when it comes to how much you think it costs to modify a car--you'd need to dump well over $3k for a built motor, and well over $3k for a blower set-up. then exhaust, suspension, tires, and other miscellaneous mods with be well over $3k----that's already $9k over your original purchase price and you haven't even taken into account any broken parts, installation fees, or tuning. i already read the rest of the thread and literally cannot believe your insurance quotes. obviously, you're not buying a v8 car which is probably a good thing for everyone else on the road
  12. this^^^^ you're looking at spending $17k that you've saved up without even realizing that these cars need a CONSTANT flow of money to fix everything that will need replaced/upgraded. you're clearly not going to listen, so my vote is to buy a mach1 AND a mustang GT--why not have both?? then mod the piss out of each of them so that neither is reliable, or remotely comfortable to drive. i got $20 that says either: 1)whatever car you buy spends more time off the road than on the road 2)you get another ticket(s) and simply can't afford insurance and have to sell the car for a loss not routing against you or anything, just telling you the reality of things. and no, i did not make the same mistake you're about to---notice i said that i QUICKLY REALIZED that i would not be able to mod my car like i wanted to while in college. my total investment was about $5500 for the first 3 years i owned the car if you're hell bent on learning the hard way---buy a car with the intentions of spending twice what you think you would for mods/upkeep
  13. nice, i like both of those beers, i'll give it a try this weekend
  14. welcome to the site. underhood shot looks good
  15. welcome to the site. nice cars.
  16. 3 series or m3?? mods?? welcome, awaiting pics
  17. tell them you're gay. show them this thread for evidence
  18. no, concentrate on your education first---older people on this site like me and others, know exactly what kind of money pits these cars can be---buy a 7-8 year old car, double the horsepower, and tons of things break. nothing sucks more than needing reliable transportation and not having it. having to fix broken parts when you don't have shit for money. you're also paying a very nice "car payment" worth in insurance every month. all the more reason to hold off until whatever monstrosity is off your driving record, and insurance is cheaper. sure your parents will pay for college---but are they paying for food/beer/entertainment?? THAT is what enjoying your college years is all about. are you commuting to college from home?? you will not get the full college experience unless you live on your own/with other friends. once you graduate college you can afford to buy many other cars and afford to have a backup car, and be able to afford this expensive hobby. i've got a wife and 3 kids---you don't see a minivan in my sig. i bought a 10 year old fox in '97 as a jr in college for $3500. while i resisted the urge to dump tons of money into it, i quickly realized that modding the car and enjoying college to the fullest did not go hand in hand. if you work while in college and dump all your free money/time into this car (which WILL happen), you will not be happy in the end you asked for advice here.
  19. this is not a race car. its a car that is supposed to match up with cadillacs, audis, entry level mercedes, and bimmers---none of those people rip the interiors out of their cars. the G8 is close, but not close enough to be in the same category as this car. with pontiac gone, and the G8 not being made anymore, this is a moot point. take a look at the list of features on the SHO, and ask yourself if the G8 comes close. sure, its probably faster--i like the looks of the G8 more, but the fact that they don't make them anymore makes the comparison invalid.
  20. no use in making threads like this---no one is impressed i guess. the negativity towards many american cars here is remarkable--which is shocking considering the majority of people here favor american cars, and have a general sense of pride in this country. the car is loaded with features, power, and potential--and i think it looks good. sure, its out of many peoples' price range, and you could buy 'x', 'y', or 'z' from overseas and look like every other faggot yuppie in the drive thru of starbucks for your daily grande latte enema (don't spill it on your silk tie, dick). its unlike any car ford has ever built, and gm has nothing to match it outside of their cadillac lineup. continue the bitching, ladies.
  21. cry me a river. i must say the 'burn out the day' ecoboost commercial for the lincoln mkz is one of the better car commercials i've seen in a while. this is a huge step in the right direction for ford. the car is absolutely loaded with amenities, power, technology, and looks (subjective). i usually don't bitch about cars i can't afford--i wish everyone followed this principle
  22. plan #1 1)save money 2)spend money on college/school 3)buy cheap, reliable daily with liability insurance 4)save money on insurance 5)get degree and good job 6)buy sports car once insurance has gone down and you can afford car of your choice plan #2 1)drop your money on USED car 2)pay the same amount per month on insurance that i pay on my GTO loan (i bought my GTO 2.5 years ago with 11k miles on it, and pay less than $400/month) 3)drop ALL your money on building a solid foundation on a 7 year old rattle trap--built motor, built transmission, built rear end, parts, parts, parts 4)work at mcdonalds 5)car breaks repeatedly 6)repeat steps 1-5
  23. "welcome to the party pal" kids change your life in an instant---mostly for the better
