good looking car with some nice suspension mods. good luck with the sale. -
taking the dogs to the park, and then downtown mitchell's steakhouse with the wife. i would love to cruise later tonight but it'll probably be too late for me.

i should apologize for my harsh posts. its just that, in the past four years, during my training as an orthopedic surgeon, i've found no solid evidence that supports the use of shoes specifically designed to support the arch in the prevention of acquired pes planovalgus (adult flat feet), which is what i presume you were going to 'explain' to me. if you're a fat 40 year old female, then maybe it is useful to wear specific arch supports/orthotics, but not for the average joe. i always tell patients to wear shoes that are comfortable for them, and leave it at that. but i am open to learn, and i have one more year before i go into private practice.
-
no offense, but if you can't explain it, then you obviously don't understand it. it is very true that physicians use arch supports and foot orthotics to treat pre-existing foot conditions, but they don't routinely prescribe special shoes for the average person. if you've ever tried a pair of these on, you would find that the arch support is on par with other shoes. people in the medical field do things all the time for money------because its called a FUCKING JOB. if you want to do something for the sake of medicine, why don't you conduct a scientific research study that proves these shoes cause long term health problems. then you can publish your paper, and create clogs that DO have the proper support you hypothesize is necessary to prevent long term complications from improper shoe-wear. you can become a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE, and put the other company out of business.
-
i don't know of any SOLID medical literature to support this, or the idea of causing knee/hip/back problems PRIMARILY through improper shoe wear--and i don't think these shoes are considered improper. improper gait, posture, muscle balance/strength, genetic predispositions, and physical proportions (obesity) are what i would consider the primary factors determining who is going to have debilitating knee/hip/back pain. there was a podiatric conference at the hilton at easton, and these shoes were being sold and advocated by several vendors there. you wouldn't see them being sold there, if there was ANY indication that they caused long term feet problems. i was not at the hilton for the convention, just there by coincidence.

I had an issue with my cobra when i took it to get drag radials installed (the car ran perfectly fine when i arrived, and after the tech put the car on their lift, it wouldn't start). anyways, i had the car towed (within 1.5 hrs) to jim keim ford in hilliard, since i had one month left on my warranty. i knew it was something with the fuel system, and knew they would probably deny my warranty (since i have a boost-a-pump, bigger injectors, and have upgraded all the wiring in the fuel system)--i just wanted them to diagnose the car. they spent hours diagnosing the car, checked everything, and in the end one of the fuel hoses that i upgraded had come undone from inside the tank. we agreed on $90 for the diagnosis, and $40 for the fix. however, they put a small scratch on one of my wheels and had to send it out to be fixed. the wheel looks perfect, and they didn't charge me for any of the work. so in the end, i paid absolutely nothing, the car was stored inside the whole time, and wasn't even very dusty/dirty when i got it back. all in all, i'm quite pleased, for once, with a car dealership, and got multiple compliments on my car from every person i saw there.

i might have gone had i known earlier

comfortable shoes are important when you're on your feet for long periods of time, as nurses are. think about this: during a 3-4 hour surgery, a surgeon stands on his feet the whole time, and takes very few steps--in other words, he's standing in one place for hours and hours--that can be extremely hard on your feet, more so, than if you were occasionally walking during that time. still, many surgeons just have comfortable tennis shoes, and wear boot covers so they don't get blood on their shoes and track it all over the o.r./hospital.
-
i don't have a pair of them, and never will. my wife has several pairs that she only wears to work---she is a nurse

ted's is very good. a little pricey for a burger, but the bison is great. their fries are also fantastic.

WTF?? they've thrown that engine into what---vette, trailblazer, SSR, GTO, cadillac CTS, anything else?? and they're going to tell people to keep it easy over 3800rpms??
-
nice. less than 10 minutes from my house. where are the current places to get race gas??
-
ouch, that sucks. i accidentally wandered in there one time when i was getting my car aligned next door. what a dump.

UPDATE!!!!!!!! i had been putting up with the annoyingness of this car so far. took it to autozone last week, and it threw a code identifying the coolant temp sensor. weird, because i had just changed it out when i did the head job on my car (i cracked the old sensor). i bought a new sensor, and installed it, and the problem appears to be fixed. supposedly, the new sensor was messed up, and sending misinformation to the computer about the coolant temperature, and the computer was running 'open loop mode'--whatever the hell that means. so the car appears ok for now, with a guarded prognosis. thanks for all the help/suggestions guys. kirk

thanks for the info guys. i'll check out the LSx forums. i'm not too interested in buying a heavily modified one though--i have my cobra for that. i've heard they make fantastic daily drivers, and i need something reliable for at least the next two years, and my '90 grand prix, and the wife's old '99 sentra aren't going to cut it. after two years, i'll need something that can handle snow (moving to wisconsin to start career--finally), and will likely keep the GTO as a summer car, and then begin modding. i've sat in a few GTO's and the seats feel great, the dash/instruments look great, and the shifter/clutch effort feel great. i like the subdued/low key exterior styling, as well as the mass production drivetrain in a limited run car. i guess i will start watching the market from all angles (local lots, autotrader, ebay, lsx forums) and try to pick out a winner.

+1 for the mad greek. very reasonable prices, and the food is much better than the one on campus, even though the same guy owns it, and it has the same menu basically--too many mexicans at the one on campus--no offense to any mexicans here, its just that greek food tastes better when served by authentic greeks--its the same thing with mexican food

great looking car you had, it must have been hard to part with. there are several '05's on ebay right now with no reserve and starting prices around $21,900.
-
true, 50hp isn't worth $5k in my opinion. especially since this will be my daily driver, and not one that i modify/need to be extremely fast. i do like the slight styling changes in the '05's, and wonder if there's any more new technology in the LS2, or if it is basically just an LS1 with a slight displacement bump.
-
thanks. i've looked a bit on autotrader several months ago. i'm assuming all the prices they list for cars on autotrader are negotiable??? the last thing i want to do is find the perfect car 250 miles away, and drive out there to find out its a turd--its a risk you must take i guess. since i can easily afford to wait until as late as winter, i'd assume it would be easier to find an '05 in that price range. i can remember seeing a link to an LS2 forum a while back where some guy bought a brand spanking new 6speed LS2 GTO for $25k.
-
How much does the average GTO go for these days??? open ended question, i know. i'm looking to buy one within the next 6 months or so, i'm in NO hurry. i want to spend about $20k, and want to buy one with less than 25k miles. this will be an un-modded daily driver. i don't care if its manual or auto, as the wife will likely get some seat time behind the wheel. of course, i'd love an '05, but would settle for an '04. there are PLENTY of '04's in that price range, but '05's are few, and most have 25+k miles. has anyone seen '05's in the $20k price range?? i had to return some parts on w. broad, and stopped by haydocy. they had 2 '04's--both autos, one had 12k miles ($21k), and the other had around 25k miles ($20k). here's the kicker--they had an '05 6-speed with 31k miles on it for $26k. does that seem pretty ridiculous to anyone?? it wasn't even clean at all--the wheels were black with baked on brake dust. the ethiopian-looking salesman didn't like it when i told him you could still buy GTO's with 0 miles for nearly that price--he was in absolute disbelief--idiot.

i've been pulled over for it once, and got let off. i then paid attention to every car i could (i was driving to cleveland) and noticed about 10% of cars did not have a front plate. i'll pay the fine and consider it a tax before i drill holes in the bumper.
