  1. the fact of the matter is that there are lasting, long-term consequences for injuries incurred on the football field. these were DRASTICALLY underestimated/not recognized in the 70's-80's-90's/etc. some of these injuries are preventable. if the average pro football career lasts 5 years, these players need to be productive citizens, and contribute to society after their sports careers are over. the rules are put in place to protect players from long term injuries that could essentially 'fuck them up for life', for lack of a better term. its for their own good. they don't realize it because, let's face it, everyone in their mid-20's feels invincible. talk to an ex-pro player who's had both hips and knees replaced, 4 back surgeries, and is in constant pain by the age 45, and you'll get a different perspective. the point is that you need to draw the line somewhere. race horses are given steroids, growth hormone, and who knows what, all in the name of maximizing performance, with no thoughts of long term consequences. when the horse is no longer in its prime, and/or disabled, it is put down. its not acceptable for the same rules to apply to human beings. what suh did was wrong, is unacceptable, and needs to be punished. the point of being a professional is to play within the acceptable rules, which he has proven several times that he cannot do. i think the punishment is no where near as harsh as it needs to be.
  2. good intro, clean cars. my wife is from north canton originally--i miss swenson's.

    Hmm

You must be proud to be a u of m alumni today
  4. looks good. good to see a low mileage, unmolested example. these cars are dropping in price, and getting into the 'wrong hands', if that makes sense. i predict many more will soon be either wrecked, beat to absolute hell, or completely gutted and fucked
  5. my cobra died at discount tire while getting drag radials mounted in 2007. just wouldn't start. had it towed to the ford dealership in hilliard. turns out the fuel line had become disconnected inside the fuel tank (entirely my fault, i had just added larger diameter fuel hoses and deleted a restriction in the hosing--guess i didn't attach everything securely). the car was less than 3 years old, and still technically under warranty. the only part of the fuel system which was stock was the fuel pumps. everything else was aftermarket, including the giant blower on top of the motor. they fixed the problem with no charge. i was throughly surprised.
  6. here's my old one--2005. i bought it in '07 with 11k miles. impulse blue with M6. over the 4 years i owned it, i daily'd it, added catback, shifter, intake, tune, and had 375rwhp. loved it up until the day i traded it in on the new cts-v http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7237/s3500011pt4.jpg http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/707/s3500012ph6.jpg http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/2305/s3500014ns1.jpg
  7. lulz at this thread. i've found that having kids is an excuse to buy all the fun crap i wanted as a kid. i've had just as much fun as my kids
  8. 3800lbs is the 'new' 3500lbs. the days of pony cars weighing 3500lbs are largely over. when you add in all the safety equipment, entertainment crap, the blower, etc, you end up with a 3800+lb car. the zl1 is likely going to be over 4000lbs.
  9. why the hate? i own mustangs, a vette, and a hotrod caddy. each are unique in their own way. each have aspects i love and aspects i don't. i'd rock a '13 GT500 without even thinking twice about it---and so would you. vette has a cro-magnon pushrod motor, plastic interior shared with the cobalt, leaf springs (wtf?), and seats that are so horrible that the man responsible for them needs to die a horrible, painful, slow death. didn't you own a vette before? ever push on the rear plastic of the car and experience the sheer terror as you swore the whole thing was going to cave in?? yeah, ford needs to build a car on level with the vette. calm down, we're not talking about the mustang being compared to a ferrari. all that being said, i own a c6z. i wouldn't trade the z for a new GT500, but i might just buy a '13 GT500 for the fuck of it. a factory-warrantied car with a 650hp blown 32 valve V8, capable of 202mph (and a backseat for my kids) sounds pretty sweet. i'll take mine with the droptop.
  10. not a huge fan of the ricer body kit, but i like the color and blower. miss my GTO just a bit
  11. not looking for a car for the WIFE at the moment. good luck with the sale.
  12. this is true. just like z06 owners are having difficulty getting motor warranties if they track their car. you're much, much less likely to have an issue if the car is stock. i can guarantee you, if you blow the motor with a pulley on the blower, you will be s.o.l. gm voided an ls7 motor warranty because the guy had brake cooling ducts on his car--wtf?
  13. i have this one in my shop http://www.lowes.com/pd_221580-14989-LLA4508065_?PL=1&productId=3115865 its a kobalt 80 gallon, 220. it does a great job of filling tires with air, which is about the majority of what i use it for. in my house garage, i have a 22 gallon husky---it does not have the juice to run a big impact gun, but is fine for smaller jobs. personally, i'd go at least 30 gallons
  14. my buddy was seriously crushed over this. he may very well try to import one. he has the v8 s5, with a chip/exhaust, and drives it year round in wisconsin snow. i would honestly look at a ttrs with the auto, if it actually came to the US.
  15. i agree 100%. unfortunately, people demand heated/cooled 10 way power seats, power everything, navigation, 20" wheels, and the safety regulations insist on 10+ airbags in every car. everything adds weight. the blower and all the supporting/cooling shit. all the oil coolers, beefier suspension, etc. it would be interesting if they offered a stripped down version with just the bare essentials. i can remember when ford came out with the 2000 cobra R. no power seats/windows/etc. no radio, no a/c, very little sound deadener. for some reason, the car still weighed 3600lbs, which was considered very heavy at the time. these days, it would be a lightweight switching from the vette to the v, is a HUGE difference, in terms of weight to the car, and handling capabilities/feel
  16. i'd consider buying that faggy little ttrs if they offered the twin clutch in the US. with a tune, boltons, and more boost, you'd be looking at close to 500hp/awd/twin clutch/launch control. as it sits, its a 12.2 car stock with the auto. i'm not quite ready to buy a porsche or m5--maybe in a couple years, we'll see.
  17. read the article. they didn't simply stroke the motor and add a larger blower---they upgraded the intercooler, heat exchanger, engine oil cooler, tranny cooler, upgraded transmission, launch control, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, fully adjustable struts, etc. and even if they did only add bolt-ons, there's something to be said about a car with 650hp right from the factory, and a full warranty--helps you sleep at night, while you beat the hell out of the car on the way to starbuck's during the day. vs. a car that comes with 570hp from the factory (but you COULD upgrade it to 650hp with a bigger intercooler, more boost, and voiding the warranty). i realize that both cars might make similar power with similar boost levels/etc. i haven't modded my cts-v yet, and don't know if i'd mod it. the same goes if i bought a new GT500. i might add exhaust, but would not likely add more boost--at least not right away. i'm also suspect of the hyperutectic slugs in the lsa motor, especially when swapping in a bigger blower and going for over 15psi
  18. if any american auto maker develops a 500hp car with AWD and a twin clutch auto, i will buy it immediately, no matter what the cost. 650hp is great, but getting it to the ground is an entirely different thing. i can't even imagine hooking up 650hp on 285 street tires. my cts-v has 550hp/285 tires, and smokes the daylights out of the tires in first, and now that its cold out, even in second. i can't help but imagine what AWD would do for this car. i love the auto in my cts-v, but would kill for the 7 speed auto out of the M5. being able to set the speed/power of shifting, and having the response of a twin clutch would be nuts. sure, all this costs money to develop. fuck it though. if you want to build a car that everybody and their mother can run 10's in right from the showroom floor, that is the fool-proof recipe. porsche claims their top end 911 turbo can run 10.7 at 128mph. imagine being able to drive to the strip right after you leave the dealership, and get kicked out after just one run, in a completely bone stock vehicle
  19. wow, i might actually have a reason to buy another mustang.
  20. interview was disturbing, even more creepy--if that is at all possible
  21. ever been to miami recently?? i lived in tampa for a year--the summer was so hot/humid there's really not much to do outside--its almost like the winter in columbus--nothing doing outside. no way in hell i'd move to cali. welcome new guy. great introduction.
  22. i'll be buying tons of worthless shit friday morning. i don't need a single thing, but i usually stop at lowes and buy a tool kit for my car, a couple cheap-ass shop vacs, a few ladders, and all kinds of worthless crap i don't need.
  23. probably need an open trailer, like a car trailer, just to be safe. i even picked mine up from a conway freight depot just like him. you'll need plenty of tie downs as well--the way the lift is packaged, its just a bit top-heavy, and you wouldn't want it rolling over when you go around a turn. i honestly, have no idea how it was removed from my trailer. i paid to have 2 guys come and install it, and when i came home from work, it was in my garage. it sat on my trailer for 2 weeks, because i couldn't even lift it off the trailer in pieces--the ramps were too heavy. i've been happy with the lift. it can run on 120, but is much faster on 220.
  24. looks great. congrats on the good work. $20k well invested.
