Found this on my car in my work parking lot

pretty neat concept. one thing i miss out on, since i live in a much smaller town. -
1st gen CTS-Vs... Are they as awesome as they seem?
kirks5oh replied to accel_is_my_drug's topic in Passing Lane
used ones go for much less than $60k, as stated above--especially with higher mileage. i can't even remember what i ended up paying for mine, since i traded my GTO in at the same time. pretty sure they gave me around $15k for the goat, and the V was somewhere in the low to mid 50's. i wanted all the options, gray, automatic trans, 10k miles or less, etc. -

do some looking on the newer ones. i bought mine used (2010 with 10k miles) for less than that, and mine is fully loaded--and i probably got an average deal, at best. told the dealer what i was looking for, and boom, made it happen. i should have bought a new one though, but oh well. they can be had for much less than $60k. some rumors are that guys have been able to get brand new ones for around $60k -

someone else will chime in, but that car should have the better rear end. i love the styling of these cars (obviously), and the ls2 is a good motor, allbeit, maybe overrated at 400hp by gm. i had absolutely no issues with the ls2 in my goat, and it made 375rwhp with just a tune, k&n and catback. my buddy has the ls6 version of the CTS-v and he loves it. he's owned the car since 2007 and has not had any issues that i know of--his car had the rear-end replaced prior to him buying it. -
scillian brail, or bone lettering? this was my immediate thought upon reading the thread--you beat me to it :fuckyeah:

i've seen a couple zr1's in person, but not when i walk out back to my garage.

$61k jeep. (bigger) LOL read motor trend's "10 best driver's cars". interesting read. the boss mustang took 5th out of 11---placed ahead of the z-06, R8, lfa, etc etc.

trust me, i get it. i wouldn't call a 911 porsche a limited production car. same thing goes for the buick, and a few others. guessing which of these will be worth tons in the future is pure speculation at this point--especially with how auto companies like to throw around the terms 'limited edition', and nostalgic nameplates/etc in hopes of capturing those who are looking to buy collectibles. think of how many limited-run mustangs there are since 2000::: mustang bullitt mustang cobra R mustang mach1 terminator cobra roush mustang stages 1-3 saleen mustang GT500 GT500-kr GT500 supersnake mustang GT350 mustang GT hertz edition BOSS mustang i'm sure there's a few i'm missing

560awhp Audi S4 Vs. CTSV vs. 2011 GT 5.0 vs. 363rwhp G8
kirks5oh replied to Ackbar00's topic in Pics and Vids
seems about right. the CTS-v is a heavy car--with the mods it should be a low, low 12 second car. the mustang is a mid-12 second car--seems about right. the V must have at least an intake, along with the tune--the stock airbox deadens the sound of the blower just a bit--the car in the video had a much louder supercharger than normal, for these cars. good vid, regardless. mustang driver seemed pretty good at shifting. -
yeah, for $500, as long as it runs, you can't go wrong. you will have no problem selling it for $500 or more once it breaks, assuming you don't want to spend the time/hassle parting it out.

dude, your best bet is to find someone on this site experienced with the process of buying cheap, used cars. pay them $100-200, and have them basically do everything for you. every single car you've listed is an abortion-waiting-to-happen. i sold a completely solid '99 sentra 3 years ago for $2200. it had 115k miles and ran without a single issue. the only thing i had done to the car was a timing belt (maintenance), and brakes. you should be able to find something comparable. the idea of buying a caprice (that needs, what i consider, significant work) for $1,000, when the guy admits he was probably going to junk it, is insane. i'll mention what no one else here has mentioned. you don't need a 'toy'. you need reliable transportation for you AND your wife. you have neither, currently. given the fact that you mentioned 'baby-hauler', i'm going to assume you have a child. even more reason, why you don't need a car that will strand you, your wife/gf, and a small child in the cold weather. plenty of time for toys when your significant other graduates.

i owned my '87 fox for 12 years. i busted my butt working two jobs one summer to pay for it. i have a lot of good memories working to buy the car and then working on the car--it was an extremely fun/carefree time in my life. unfortunately (a learning experience) i modded it to the point it was downright uncomfortable to drive, yet slower than all my other cars. getting rid of it was a no-brainer, and i haven't looked back. i still have the memories of buying/building the car if the car is NOT a classic/collectible, then move on to bigger/better things.

zl1 is not even out yet, and they have it on the list?? SRT8 cherokee is slower than the outgoing version. lots of hypotheticals on there. list does make me want to get a GTR or 911 turbo as my next toy.

i don't have the rolling scissor jacks yet, but you do have the option for scissor jacks that roll between the ramps to lift the car off to do wheel changes, etc.
-
i considered anchoring it, and very well might do that, because i haven't moved it once. i asked the guys who installed it about that---they apparently install these all over wisconsin--at homes, and businesses all over. they apparently never anchor them in residential applications, and don't think there would be a problem. still, i will probably anchor it sometime this summer

just saw the video---no thanks. not sure i'd like to bolt in my lift every time i want to do any work here's a couple shots of my 4 post bendpak. i just have to get the rolling jacks and i'll be set. its a storage lift with 9000lbs capacity. i'd be worried about a lift with 6k lbs capacity, not to mention the integrity of the anchors, when repeatedly re-torqued. my lift sits on carpet, and is not bolted in to the floor. http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2622/dsc01288u.jpg http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/4963/dsc01297.jpg http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/3084/dsc01296sr.jpg

good intro, sharp looking truck

Love my bend-pak. Paid $3k for the lift and all the accessories. Had it professionally installed, and it has worked flawlessly for almost two years. Search for my lift thread on here, or ill post it up when I get to my laptop.

congrats. good looking car, definitely more practical too.

rofl at the comments: "still a better love story than twilight, let's be honest" i still remember some of the crazy/bizarre shit i saw while doing a brief psych rotation in grad school. crazy--these people would get off their meds, do insane shit, get admitted to the hospital, re-medicated, and back out into the general population--some of them with fairly high demand/functioning jobs.
-
honestly, 90% of florida is an infested shit-hole.

whenever you start a new career, its nice to be able to focus all your efforts on the career. when i moved to wisconsin, we rented a 1500sq foot ranch for my family of 5. if something broke in the house, we called the landlord. snow removal, grass cutting, landscaping---all on the landlord. the furnace goes out in the middle of the winter--call the emergency furnace repair and give the bill to the landlord. this gave me more time to focus on the new job, while we looked to where we wanted to buy/build. in the end, we couldn't wait to build, and ended up buying an existing house. i waited almost a year to buy, though. getting rid of a big house in a smaller town is a bitch. i live in a city of 35k people. almost everyone is looking at smaller houses.
-
This You'll lose your ass on a house if you have to move within two years. We've sank quite a bit into our well water system as well. My vote goes for renting for a year---you'll thank me later. We've moved a few times in the past 6 years and rented for just a bit first
-
yeah, i have no dreams of going 200mph in any car. in reality, with how cold it is most of the year, my next car will likely have awd---kind of limits the choices. once the road gets cold here, traction is a huge issue.

why not rent a place for a while---condo/apartment. get an idea of where you want to live, and make it happen in 1-2 years. nothing worse than getting all excited about a new location and finding out 1--you don't like the job, or have moved on to another job and are stuck with a 'vacation house' in a shithole town 2--you'd rather live somewhere else in town, or on the outskirts of town
