ctsv for me. i would not buy one of these without the 8 speed auto. i had considered waiting until the SRT8 cherokee came out, but with the way it looks, i think i'll ditch that idea altogether. my brother's SRT8 cherokee turns nearly 3k rpms at 75 mph on the freeway. ctsv wagon maybe?? why can't cadillac stuff that lsa motor into whatever bullshit small SUV they make?? a rival to the SRT8 cherokee, X5M, and cayenne turbo??

great intro chris, welcome to the site.

great intro, welcome to the site

that's $6k difference. not sure what my wife paid for my vette, but i'm sure it was probably well over $72k. oh well, i've been fully happy with the car---except for locking myself into the car with a dead battery and not being able to immediately get out of it---at least i didn't call 911 to get out
-
had my buddy over yesterday to change the winter wheels off his S5 (he drives it all winter long here in wisconsin). took him for a spin in the vette, and he just about shit his pants. he actually lurched forward to grab the door/dash for support. its still a bit cold here, and the car was spinning at 80mph in second gear. he can't possibly imagine why i would have the need to add more power to the car. for the price of a used GTR, you can buy a brand new Z. mine is a 3LZ optioned car with heated/cooled seats, leather wrapped interior---actually looks pretty nice for a gov't sponsored car.

getting my cobra back soon---fully built auto just swapped in. great kill.

insert "orly?" picture here

welcome to the site. i can appreciate the amount of work going into that car, just not an import fan here. great work none-the-less. enjoy the site

yeah, it can be deceiving with an auto. my cobra laid down 580 rwhp with the previous tune and a 6 speed. i just had an automatic intalled and the car laid down 520rwhp with no other changes---same a/f ratio all the way across the board, same fuel parameters, same boost. quite a bit is lost through the torque converter. i haven't driven the car yet, so i can't comment on whether it feels faster or not
-
sure, h/c/i on a vette compromises streetability. you can buy either a centrifugal blower or edelbrock makes a positive displacement blower. either of those on 5psi will make 600rwhp, and drive like a completely stock car.

i can understand if he wouldn't want to post WHERE he works. last thing you need is jackasses off the internet calling/emailing your place of employment. maybe a picture of a badge with a sign that says "fuck off 351mach1" would suffice??

unfortunately, that's what all GTR's are giong for. i've looked recently but steered clear (not a big enough back seat). they hold their value well, apparently. there are guys on corvetteforum who recently found brand new '09 z06's for $65k---that's a brand new car with a 5 year, 100k mile warranty that could (potentially) be serviced at any gm dealership. not sure if any '09's are left. parts on these cars aren't overly expensive and the aftermarket support is excellent. you can modify the car as far as you want ($10k for a blower, or h/c/i--600rwhp), or you can leave it bone stock and still beat supercars. buy the GTR and you'd likely be forced to buy some sort of extended warranty. sure, you can mod the GTR as far as you want, and i'm sure there's an aftermarket following if parts break--but not nearly the same as the vette.
-
both?? gtr for the winter, z06 for the summer?? my buddy drove his awd S5 all winter here in wisconsin snow, so a GTR should be able to handle columbus snow.
-
shit, someone stole a picture of my car. the z-06 gets my vote, unless you were going to get the '12 GTR. hard to imagine chevy makes a car that right off the showroom floor can blow the tires off at 60mph, and hit 90mph in second gear, etc etc. and that's not even the top dog vette. you can easily hit 550rwhp with a cam, and 600rwhp with some head work.
-
pretty sure that's in tampa, and i know the bridge well from the year i lived there. i need some mods on my vette.

give this man a beer. went to lowes, bought $3 10X1.5 bolts, 1.5" long, two lock washers, and everything was fixed in about 10 minutes. thanks aj kirk
-
my buddy has a billy boat exhaust on his S5. sounds perfect--not too loud, no drone, and was fairly easy to install with my lift. $1800. the car looks great, and he drove it all winter here in wisconsin without an issue. it would be a great daily, but probably one of my last choices for a 'project car', unless my project involved spending shit tons of money for minimal gains.

incredible machine. i have no doubt that i would literally shit in my pants if i was riding along with him on that track -
clearly, a kid with no direction (no father figure). another reason birth control should be mandated. if you can prove you're worthy of having offspring (not necessarily from a financial standpoint), then you can be taken off birth control and allowed to reproduce. THE most unfit parents are having the most offspring---we are devolving as a species, and this is proof.

for future reference, i recommend the harbor freight 3/4" sockets as mentioned above, for these rare occasions---i just can't justify spending $300+ for a full set of sears sockets. i got a standard harbor freight set when they went on sale--they were $50. and they are 12 point sockets, so they would have worked with this application. good to hear you got it worked out

thanks guys. i'll get a pic of it this afternoon. basically, one end has a smooth hole for the bolt to pass through, and the receiving end is a threaded flange---there's no nut necessary, simply thread the bolt into the flange, and it compresses the gasket inside the pipe. i'll try various sizes, including the 10X1.5 (thanks aj). updates later tonight
-
guys, long story short--i'm missing two bolts that bolt into an exhaust flange on my '05 GTO. the bolts are located on the midpipe. here's the story http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91272 the dealership cannot service the midpipe---they will gladly find me a whole midpipe for $1300. i'm assuming these bolts are metric, and before i go to lowe's and go through the painful 'trial and error' method of buying multiple bolts, i was wondering if anyone had an idea what size they could be. thanks kirk
-
just called the stealership---they don't service the midpipe--it would have to be replaced $1300 time to go to lowe's and try to track down a bolt to fit the flange. thanks haydocy.

this. watched a little bit of this with my wife. the time/effort spent (buying multiple newspapers, driving all over to find circulars, spending hours on the internet looking for coupons, and then hours arranging everything and 'planning' the trip), is not offset by having tons of 'junk' groceries. the one lady spent less than $100 on $1600 worth of groceries, but had something like 64 bottles of mustard---wtf. this show should be on right before 'hoarding'.
-
should be easy to fix. just a hassle to track down the part. helps having a lift. i remember when i had it fixed i also suspected the car had been driven as well.
