yeah, he's likely not going to do much with it. my buddy has one of these. $1800 exhaust sounds awesome---added 5hp probably. people chip these cars as stated above, but anything more than that requires deep pockets. they look great, and drive smooth as butter--but get waxed by my stock GTO.

guys, have to report a negative experience with haydocy---3 years after the fact background--- bought '05 GTO in 2007 with 11k miles on it. took it to haydocy for several minor issues under warranty and was happy. took it there in late 2008 with 15k miles on the clock to fix a leaky rear transmission seal. they told me the car also had a rear main leak (minimal leak, but i knew it was there). they told me they could fix both under warranty, and did so. about a year later and the rear main is leaking again no big deal, its just a tiny leak. i drive the car for 2 more years and currently it has 26k miles. right before i put the car down for the winter, i noticed a small rattle under the car that occured when starting from a stopped position (figured it was a loose exhaust shield). i just started driving the car again, and noticed the noise again. got the car up on my lift and found that one of the flange joints on the midpipe was missing two bolts that form a compression joint and hold the midpipe together. that is, one side of the midpipe is formed of two pieces for some reason. a downstream pipe slips into the upstream pipe and is compressed by a flange and a mesh gasket. this was definitely in place when i bought the car, because i installed a catback and noticed this joint and the bolts. it definitely had to be removed when haydocy did the work, and was definitely NOT reinstalled correctly---so i've been driving the car that way for 3 years---wtf? its not bad enough to have an exhaust leak--because the downstream pipe is fairly snug inside the upstream one. it definitely needs fixed, and i'm sure these bolts are going to be dealership pieces---maybe i'll call haydocy and see if they have my fucking bolts laying around. i still have the work order, maybe i'll ask to talk to the tech who worked on my car. frustrating, the lack of attention to detail. and before anyone asks, these bolts are screwed into a 3/8" thick metal flange joint---there's no way they would back out on their own--anyone who's removed bolts from thick exhaust flanges know how much of a bitch these can be to remove. add to that the fact that all the threads in the flange have oxidation on them proves the bolts have been missing forever

man that car is wrecked. watching it from the first angle, you'd assume some curb rash, maybe a ruined wheel. i'd assume that's at least $10k in damage (to the lambo). the GTO, well, he was just puting it out of its misery

rofl at the guy who mentions a G8 or a GTO as his daily beater, yet his prized possesion is a nearly 20 year old foxbody^^ i'd rock one for sure. i need four doors, hence the reason i will probably be selling my 26k mile 'beater' GTO this summer. i won't be getting a GTP though as a replacement

i'd throw a fit if i were you. i just think that's unacceptable by today's standards--rock chip or not. i had an issue with my GTO about 3 years ago, where there was some bubbling at the seams of the trunk and hood--no visible rust, but some 'lifting' of the paint. took it to the stealership and made them repair it to my satisfaction. and then they didn't mask the car off properly, and andy had to buff out some of the overspray when i had the car detailed. go figure

i've found the largest need for the air tools (for me, personally) is to remove lug nuts. if that's the case i don't even break out the air impact tools. 10 years ago i bought a $50 corded 1/2" electric impact driver from harbor freight. i've only had to change the magnetic brushes out once, but this thing has worked forever---i use it every time i have to take a wheel off. you can also use it to remove exhaust clamps, suspension bolts, etc. it won't fit into tight places, so i'd suggest getting all the impact tools mentioned above as well. its strong enough to remove all but the most stubborn lug nuts, and i've found you can even use it to put the lug nuts back on the car---once you get used to using it, you can pretty much get each lug nut to 100-110lb/ft of torque without even checking. i liked this thing so much, i bought a second one for absolutely no reason at all.

320rwhp does not equate to 400 at the flywheel---unless the car is an automatic with 44" mudbogger tires. i was a little disappointed (in my car)with 344rwhp considering i had a catback and intake---i figured the car should be running about 420 at the motor. 344rwhp is no where near 420 at the motor, consindering my car is manual (i consider a manual to lose 11-15% max from the motor to the wheels). the '04 cobra that was dynoed after mine had the same mods that i did (intake, and catback only), and put down 409rwhp. that's a motor that ford advertised as having 390hp. edit---i see the car is a 5.7 auto---so those are good numbers

they still are no joke. there's a guy on svtperformance with a new GT500 that runs 11.2 with only slicks and exhaust---stock pulley. plenty of terminator cobras with 80k+ miles on the stock motor, pulleyed to 500rwhp the whole life of the car. i'm just not a fan of the ford GT, for some reason. and they have not really depreciated much at all.

embarassing that GM claimed these cars were at 400hp. i'm assuming this is an ls2 car. my m6 ls2 gto made 344rwhp with a k&n intake kit and a catback (no tune). then nearly 380rwhp after brian's magic. the same day i was at the dyno, an '04 cobra with the same mods (intake and catback), made 409 rwhp with no tune whatsoever. i still love the gto though. good work as always brian.

pretend you're applying for a job. let's just pretend its a job at mcdonalds. you want to put your best foot forward and convince me you're up to the task of flipping burgers and cleaning out the deep fryer. you just showed up to the 'job interview' drooling, telling me "i like happy meals". you're not going to get into a fairly close-knit car enthusiast webiste like that. better luck next year.

congrats. time for a full sized suv. we have 3 kids in car seats. the wife's escalade has 2 captains chairs in the middle row, and a 3rd row bench. the twins sit in the 3rd row, and the 2 year old in one of the captain's chairs. its a bitch to get the twins into the 3rd row---you have to get all the way in the truck to do it. its much easier in my exploder, where the second row is a bench-style row---that will accommodate all 3 car seats. the 3rd row is permanenly folded down, leaving more room for cargo then in the escalade. not sure what your car seat situation is, but we were against getting a minivan at all costs.
