  1. this is a good point that many don't realize. in the summer, it rains for 30 minutes every single day----yes, every single day. insurance is a bitch there, we paid a fair amount more for our policy than in ohio---both auto and homeowners. the summer gets unbearable humidity. you will not be able to do squat there during the day outside in the summer heat/humidity. people have automatic starters there, so they can get the a/c going before they get in the car. great place to spend the winter. the summer, not so much.
  2. mobil 1 5w30. mobil 1 or motorcraft filters.
  3. yep, i'm currently looking for a condo in siesta key---prices are still dropping, so i probably won't buy this summer, but its nuts. i wouldn't recommend sarasota for a young, single guy in his 20's, though. my buddy has a place in siesta key, and we've been going on guy trips about every 2 months for the last year----crescent beach is the nicest beach i've ever seen. some of the prices on the inland houses are ABSOLUTELY NUTS. they are selling for roughly 60% of the cost of the materials to build the house. the condos on the beach, or near the beach have not depreciated to the same extent. tampa is where its at. i lived there for a year, and thoroughly enjoyed the city. tons to do for a young professional. cost of living is very reasonable. huge, huge car scene. good shopping, restaurants, great nightlife. don't know much about finding a job there, so i can't comment on that. traffic is traffic, but its not aweful. we lived about 20 minutes north of tampa. i'd avoid miami like aids.
  4. i've always thought that was the best hood that's ever been put on a mustang. love it. go to dynobryan dynotunemotorsports.com only guy on the site i'd trust to tune my blown stang
  5. NO^ concentrate on performance mods. so many people differ in their tastes, and what they consider to be 'too much'. making a 'universal' body kit and being able to sell it to more than just a couple people will NOT work imo. you will find many people saying "i like the front, just not the rear, or not the fenders". getting the masses to say "that is EXACTLY what i want my car to look like", will not be an easy thing to do. building a performance package that appeals to the masses is much, much easier--i tell you i want "X" rwhp, and you mix and match the correct parts to get me there
  6. rofl---musical cars. looks clean as shit. good luck with the sale, this should go fast.
  7. i'm all-business when it comes to my cars---not a fan of body kits in any way, shape, or form. even aftermarket wheels is a stretch for me sometimes. i'd do the zr1 brakes, zr1 wheels, some minor suspension tweeks, and then drop $10k into full bolt-ons, or a blower-- that is, in fact, the plans for my z in the next year or two.
  8. i documented each of my moving experiences here---good reads columbus to tampa http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52255&highlight=move tampa to wisconsin http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69995&highlight=move within one year of living in wisconsin (we were renting), we bought a house locally, and moved----again
  9. rofl at all the critique in this thread. personally, i like the car. just a bit too low, but other than that, i wouldn't change a thing. i ran 275 nittos on my GTO for 10k miles and they barely fit---you just can't fit wider tires on these cars. a standard 275 tire won't fit. no need to defend your car, or change anything based on what anyone else says.
  10. love that goat. welcome to the site. plenty of goats here
  11. i moved from columbus to tampa, and then tampa to wisconsin, within the course of 14 months. some tips from my experience (i did it all myself) use a bigger uhaul then you think you'll need. trash/sell as much as you can before you move don't trailer a car behind the uhaul--just get it shipped cheap $600-700. you'll spend money on the trailer and gas, and its such a pain in the ass to stop for gas, trailer-sway is horrible, etc. etc. trust me on this one, its worth it to get the car(s) shipped take plenty of cash--the last thing you want is to be stuck at a gas station in bumfuck nowhere and have your credit card shut down because of suspicious charges---bring at least $1500 for gas/etc. have someone with you to help drive if possible don't drive through the night--stop when it gets dark
  12. i'm not going to lie to you---when i see a prius, i need every bit of restraint imaginable to overcome the urge to ram it with whatever vehicle i'm driving at the moment.
  13. got 3 kids (twin 3 year old girls, and a boy who's almost 2). i'm done. they are a handful, but i wouldn't trade it for anything. of course kids cost money, priorities get rearranged---that's part of growing up. still have a separate garage filled with cars/tools/tv's/kegerator/etc.--kids aren't allowed in there. everything else can get destroyed.
  14. Break Out Another Thousand hey just think, with your new boat, you can always go out and catch a camaro for free!! http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/3959/catfish.jpg
  15. yep. and mine ended up getting about that big. they like to jump, so you have to cover every inch of the tank's top, and put something heavy on the lid as well. they will literally eat anything they can fit in their mouths--which open up like a giant trap door. very cool fish. aquarium adventure gave me two medium sized pirahna's when i traded the arrowana in---then they turned around and sold it for over $100
  16. this thread makes me miss my 120 gallon setup. my favorite group of fish had to be the 3 years i had a silver arrowana in the tank--he outgrew the tank (18" long)and i had to trade him in to aquarium adventure. i also had 3 very large silver dollars (4-6" diameter) and a large angel. the tank also had some feeder fish in it that outgrew the arrowana's ability to eat them---so i'd let them live. we had at least 2 that were 6" long. http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3615/s3500083.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/6870/s3500070.jpg
  17. i've got too many cars with 2 doors, or else i'd be game.
  18. right before i left florida in 2009, i sold my wife's '99 sentra with 115k miles on it for $2400. i have no doubt it will run for 200k miles without a problem. 4 doors, 1.6 liter that got 33mpg with mixed driving/mostly freeway. sentra would get my vote---too many civics get riced out/beat on my teenagers
  19. get a set of cheap 17" wheels and some 315 nittos or better. my nittos would dead hook at 40mph in second once warmed up
  20. congrats and good luck. my college roommate was a 3 year walk on place kicker at miami of ohio---finally got officially on the team his senior year and would travel with the team, and saw a fair amount of playing time. they would use walk-ons as tackling dummies for the linebackers. you had to run the ball right at the linebacker, who would tackle you for 'form' (whatever that meant). one time he got tackled so hard by jujuan armor (got drafted by the NFL, was two-time all-conference linebacker), that his helmet was knocked over the top of his face, breaking his nose. he's a surgeon in cincinati now. good luck
  21. good luck with the build. we need more mustangs on this site
  22. you can take what you've been blessed with and strive to improve upon it. strive to do better than your father (whether it be to earn more money, help more people, donate more to charity, spend more time with your children, etc.). don't be a complacent leech. not that that's what you are, as i have never met you--- every good parent wants their child to be better than them---if your child repeatedly fails miserably, that's pretty much a reflection of 18-25 years of failure on the parent's part. sorry for the rant
  23. no. he's a crook, plain and simple. multiple, multiple accounts of his robbery of peoples' hard earned money---and i'm not just talking about the crazy prices he charges---we're talking about stealing parts from car A, and puting them on car B, etc etc. amazing, that he still gets feature articles in major car magazines after all of this.
