  1. Geographically MCIR is better for me and I have a friend I can probably get there with loose tech (no cage). I will probably have a conflict with the September date too but will make the October date unless it conflicts with the LS event in Indy.
  2. I got my first issue yesterday too and it took me about 5 minutes to put it in the recycle pile. Such a shame since I used to keep and reread GMHTP for years and now I get stuck with this rag.
  3. A lot of folks know more than me in this thread but one thing I learned while evicting a renter a few years ago is if you accept any payment, even partial, the eviction clock starts over. By you taking that recent payment, even though it was for May, you likely restarted your 60 day clause from that date. Once she is 60 days late, post the 3 day notice, and don't take another dime from her. I strongly recommend you get a lawyer though. I ended up doing so and managed to get a nice settlement after paying him from damages and unpaid rent.
  4. Thanks to everyone who put this together, it's a very affordable way to get out and get some track time in and see some big bad Buicks at the same time. Should be a great event.
  5. A neighbor of mine was selling a flawless used snap on 96 with SS top for $3000 last weekend. I'd suggest as the others said to buy used.
  6. Yes but just as others said, only if you want something to run in the ground. My Z06 is rebuilt but I got it for 40% of clean title price at the time. I have put 20k trouble free miles on it drive it anywhere. It's nice not having to treat it like an investment but resale is a pita. I've had several people want it until I tell them it's rebuilt, then they act like I'm a con man even though they approached me first and I'm very upfront about the title. Oh well, I'll keep driving the piss out of it.
  7. Congrats and nice choice all the way around.
  8. I did a wooden shed kit from lowes about four years ago and it's held up great. Materials are thinner than you may spec if you design your own but price was great and I didn't have to cut anything. Best part was it only took about 20 man hours to assemble and most I could do by myself. I dug out the grass, leveled, and used those concrete footer blocks for the foundation. I laid plastic and pea gravel to keep weeds out too. Only thing that didn't come with the kit was roofing shingles. I would also add tar paper to the roof and better roofing nails than the kit comes with because I lost some shingles in the big windstorm a few years ago.
  9. About 9 months ago I started the Fast Diet from a doctor in the UK. Prior to this I was working out some and counting calories with an app called Lose It but it didn't seem to work and my weight kept creeping up. I was 6 foot and 231 so not huge but carried it all in my belly. After stating Fast the weight loss was immediate and I dropped 20 lbs in the first 6 weeks while still eating my usual crappy foods. I have had plateaus and periods where my discipline wasn't very good so it took a while to take off a bunch but as of yesterday I was 188 lbs so 43 lbs lost. My original goal was 185 and now I may push to 175. Fast is very simple, two days per week you do a partial fast and only take in 600 calories for men and 500 for women. Do not fast on back to back days and you can pick when you want to do it based on events of that week in your life. On your non-fasting days don't binge just eat sensible. Now I doubt my results would have been as good if I wasn't exercising and watching my calories on non-fasting days but I also think my results would be huge if I quit eating out, pizza, soda, and my bane…chocolate chip cookies. You can buy the book but it's really as simple as described. Once you get to your desired weight you only fast once per week.
  10. I have a Jacobs performance ignition for that car and a brand new front bumper filler panel (where the fog lights go). Somewhere I have everything you need to burn your own e-proms too.
  11. Congrats and great job. I used to do my own for normal cars and bikes but I've gotten lazy in my old age. Last set I did for my SUV wouldn't sit right on the bubble balancer (used successfully for many years) so I had to pay to have them rebalanced at $20. I used to use a simple spin balance tool on my bike tires and had them over 200 mph with no issues. When I did the tires on the Vette I didn't even try due to the profile. Local dealer did m&b for $10 each including disposing of old tires.
  12. I have a PPQ which is very close. It has a high centerline which make recoil kinda twist while it rises. It a comfortable gun to shoot but I have trouble with second shot accuracy so far. Trigger is very good and grips are pretty nice. Aftermarket is pretty slim so far but it will come around somewhat like it did for the P99 that preceded these. So far it has done well with any ammo I have fed it including the cheap Tula from walmart.
  13. Asbestos containing floor tile is considered a Class I non-friable form. This means only under severe conditions (like grinding the tile down) will it release any fibers. As a bonus it usually comes up very easy. Disposal can be pretty simple too depending on your local dump policy, call them to find out for sure but all asbestos containing material goes to the landfill, you just need to follow their rules. These rules usually include double bag in high mil black trash bag and seal bag with duct tape and label bags "caution asbestos". Now you have to deal with the mastic that was under the tile as it is likely also an ACM. This is where you have to sand which will release fibers. The other option may be to use a compound on top to give you a level surface to work over.
  14. I'll throw out another vote for SV but I would stick to the fuel injected models if budget permits. I had two carb models and seemed to have gummed up carbs even after they sat for a short time. Racetech front end and a 636 shock and it handled the best of any bike I've had. You may also want to look at FZ6 from Yamaha.
  15. Put megasquirt ecu on Miata much cheaper than $2000 and look for a used 12 bolt. I don't see the ecu being worth 40hp but I do agree that it will help the midrange.
  16. If you can learn to DIY or have someone who can to help, new springs, fork oil, and fork seals can be done for under $300. FWIW the busa and zx14 are also under sprung for your size. It will make a dramatic difference if you ever do a road track.
  17. If you keep it in an attached garage in the winter, I would use water and water wetter only. If it has to sit out in the cold you need some antifreeze or you will have to reflush in the winter which can be a PITA. If you want to do a track day most groups require no antifreeze but its extremely fun so I think it's worth it. If you just want to try drag racing I would go to a CR day or test and tune as is and see if you enjoy it before spending money. At your size and miles you should be looking more at rebuilding the suspension and setting it up for your weight. You bike is probably sprung for a 150 pound rider.
  18. Well I would focus on your high profit stuff so you teach the DIY people how to help you make even more money. I could see some proper troubleshooting workshops so they don't take the code reader at face value. Brakes, fluids, detailing techniques…all with your products obviously. I would love to see a "when to dyno tune" workshop but I am not sure that benefits you. Another less popular idea may be to get a (likely former) mechanic to explain some of the scams they run unsuspecting customers. Workshops for women only, reading spark plugs, new technology, the list goes on and on.
  19. I usually go to the closest store to my house which happens to be AAP. Prices are OK, a couple of employees are friendly, and I know what I want before I go in. If they don't have it I get it next day which I am OK with these days. I have learned to shop the way they want me to and it takes all the stress out of it. If you really want to do something different, start rebuilding your customer base by sponsoring learning workshops for the DIY people who are scared of today's fancy systems. This would give you a great opportunity to partner with some CR guys that have shops and get them some exposure as well. I would venture that a large percentage go to the dealer for everything these days and they need to know that DIY and private shops are still very capable options.
  20. I have an 05 Escape and that's when they made a transmission change to make them more dependable. Mine is 4wd and simple the best on road winter vehicle I've ever drove. I have 120,000 trouble free miles and the original brakes went 90k and just did the shocks and struts at 110,000. Obviously it must have been built by Honda to be so dependable.......... I've also towed 5000 lbs with it (rated at 3500) and hauled things inside that people said would never fit. I totally agree with a previous post that the road noise is an issue but it is better with new tires and no roof rack. I've had an 2011 Escape for a rental and liked the extra 40 hp it has. I didn't get any better mpg with it than I do mine and I found the 6 speed annoying because it seemed to always be in the wrong gear.
  21. Some friends and I are doing this next year and we got a dealer to give us a '95 Neon for $1 in exchange for running their name on it. Dealers get some real POS cars sometimes and if you know someone inside you may be able to get a similar deal. Good luck.
  22. If the state you bought it from doesn't require notary, Ohio won't make you get it done. You could make a call to the bmv and ask them the specific rules for the state you are transferring from and they will tell you before you go in there. Some states require a signed (but not notarized) purchase agreement I believe.
  23. A lot of car dealers and even some garages can do it too. They (including the bmv) do charge you a buck or two for the "service".
