  1. Watching Ferrari flounder in F1 has been painful. They were at least somewhat competitive in the past few years, but this year has been a joke. Alonso is carrying that car on his shoulders every race. To finish with just one car just barely in the points at Monza is embarrassing.
  2. I'm not too crazy out on the road, never really have been. But there is one time I'm ashamed of. I was in my '98 T/A and drove it at about 140mph on a two-lane highway.. in traffic. I was very lucky. I think I got all of that kind of driving out of my system in one shot.
  3. I love BBQ. And I would love to build a smoker and make my own. Experimenting with rubs and sauces would be fun. But I can't find room for another hobby.
  4. Driver to driver, the Mono driver has it hands down. But those straights! P1 Driver: "Buh-bye!"
  5. What makes these cars less safe than faster cars like Funny Cars and Top Fuel?
  6. A Bacon Explosion. Next step: Bacon Explosion WELLINGTON!
  7. I kinda agree with this. I was surprised too. Was there a lesser version? Because for such a valuable car, I think I've seen more that are stripped out/swapped than original.
  8. I'd love to see that with take-offs as well. Hell, I'd like to see that in person too. Even if that was over the course of a few hours, there still was a conga line of planes coming in to land at a few points there.
  9. Say hi to Hawkeye, Radar, and the rest of the gang for me.
  10. Most come with head rests, and you can get aftermarket ones for the ones that don't. Mine came with one, but I didn't like it so I changed it for another. What was killing me was holding my head at full extension upwards for long periods of time on my road bike. The real speed demons are the two wheeled recumbents called high racers (a.k.a. "Stick bikes") http://www.easystreetrecumbents.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/sam_bikefit_example-300x225.jpg and low racers. http://www.bikeforest.com/m5_cromo_low_racer.jpg Near road bike weight with a fraction of the frontal area. Those are what all the un-faired speed records are set on, and why they are banned from UCI races. I just like the trikes more and mine is already plenty fast for our rides. The idea of an off road trike interests me, and there's a shop in Utah that customizes trikes that has a 90 speed big wheeled trike that would be pretty cool, or a fully suspended one. But I think the classic style bike is better for its nimbleness.
  11. Because it would be an extra 100 to 140 in your pocket.
  12. Ahh.. Well, it's still usually cheaper to get them refinished instead of buying new.
  13. This. Much cheaper than aftermarket, and having the original wheels on the car will increase it's perceived value.
  14. I still have my old 05 HardRock. It never sees dirt though. The gf isn't confident on dirt.
  15. I think ship engines. But not sure.
  16. Cool. The gf wasn't up for a ride so I went on a quick solo to see what I could do with it. The glass roof is great to keep the suction cups from scratching.
  17. I'm getting a big turbo for the BRZ so I can make CR-levels of power.. It's a custom built turbo. Here's a couple pics of it being assembled: http://i.imgur.com/nShyW2I.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VW5ZKHX.jpg
  18. I like how the Velosters look. And the 3 door thing is actually pretty cool the more I think about it. I peeked at a Veloster forum and wasn't too impressed with what I saw. But then, the idea of a performance Hyundai isn't all that old. Lots of room under the back end of it though. I think an Evo powertrain swap would be pretty cool.
  19. I put the lion's share of the blame on the kid. Who gets out of their car and walks back down into the racing line? That's just stupidity. These aren't Corollas. These cars are near impossible to drive with precision as they are built from the ground up to constantly be in a left turn. Then they are over-powered with massive engines that have a throttle like a light-switch. And just to add a little bit more of insanity, they have all but nonexistent brakes. Walking into the racing line of these machines is suicidal. As for whether tony revved or buzzed or whatever, you *cannot* judge by this video. There's a whole side of the track that's closer to the camera than the incident, so engine sounds are likely from a car closer to the camera that you can't see. And that video has been through YouTube's image stabilizer so you can't be sure the car's movements are real, or an artifact of that process. Just look at how the video jumps and flexes when the cars are passing along the bottom of the frame. This video is poor evidence of what happened. The only ones that know what happened are the ones involved. The track officials that were there are the only ones that can make a decision on this.
  20. http://boulder.craigslist.org/cto/4565338650.html Volvo 262C
  21. Not going to put down stadium trucks. They're pretty crazy and a blast to watch. I'd love to race one. But if we're talking toughest, I'd go with Baja 1000 or Dakar Rally. Hour after hour after hour on open terrain at high speeds.
