    E85

The issue with E85 is the fact that the government demans it be made out of corn if the manufacturer/farmer wants a credit. There are MUCH better sources for Ethanol that are far more efficient to cultivate and convert. Because of our climate, sugar cane is out. But switch-grass grows rampant in the midwest ad would require a fraction of the maintennance that corn requires, while providing multiple TIMES the amount of ethanol. http://oascentral.scientificamerican.com/RealMedia/ads/click_lx.ads/sciam.com/energy-and-sustainability/L35/1601155151/Top/sciam.com/b_2012-02_npg_NME/NME-728x90.gif/4e3871346231422b454d30414152517a?x Now I don't think ethanol can replace gas. But as a suppliment I think it's a good fuel that's hobbled by politics.
  2. That's what the ref said.
  3. I think it was the sensor picking up the temp of the hull or something. That high up there's less atmosphere to insulate you against the sun. So I think it was the heat of the sun on the capsule. If you watch when he depressurizes the capsule the external air pressure goes up too. :lolguy:
  4. 50 years ago I think it was more like: "My altimeter isn't going up any more, I'm gonna jump." "Good luck, see you when you land."
  5. She swung first, can't say I blame him. He certainly can't just sit there or she might swing at him again. I'm ok with this. Doesn't matter if you're male or female, if you punch someone, expect them to punch back.
  6. I think car manufacturers should be developing a road-going KERS system, not full battery propulsion. Battery tech just isn't where it needs to be.
  7. Here's one of those sidecar racers without the skin: http://www.hahn-archiv.de/images/racing3a.jpg Bad ass.
  8. When someone finds racing at triple digit speeds over public roads on a motorcycle to be rather tame, what do they do? Become a sidecar racer. Who needs a seat? Just get a bunch of handholds and start climbing over the outside of a vehicle going over 150mph as if it were a jungle gym.
  9. The mains. Benefit of a boxer, each half of the block acts as the bearing cap for the other half.
  10. At this point I agree with you. These turbos are way too big for good transitional response. At this power/handling/price combination a Z06 might be a better choice. But, at this level of modding, it usually isn't about getting the best base car for the job. It's more about seeing what can be done with a specific car. It's like FWD drag racers. Absolutely the worst choice of car for the application, but a lot of people like to see what they can do with the platform. As for the Car in the OP, Full Blown has just run it on a dyno. Putting a full load on the car on a track may cause it to finally pop. Noone's sure. The only thing that's sure is that AP's BRZ is still holding up to 20-22lbs of boost on a near daily basis. After SEMA, Don has said he's going to go "Beast" mode on his BRZ. I think he's going to TRY and pop it so he can start building an engine. We'll see what happens. BTW, this is what's holding all that cylinder pressure in:
  11. Was going to mention this. Largest Casino in the US, possibly the world, is in Foxwoods CT. I've been there. The gambling floor is huge and I only saw the floor the general public sees. The rest of the complex goes on forever. They have their own medical facility on-site.
  12. I also saw Cleetus driving on 71 around Polaris. Seems CR was out and about in all forms yesterday.
  13. I don't have any pics or vids myself, but there was a lot of photos being taken. I'll post links when I find them.
  14. Hmm.. Trophy Truck + Cargo/Sleeper box = Ultimate SHTF vehicle?
  15. These things are just cool. Not the fastest thing on pavement, but they'll do that speed over almost any terrain.
  16. Just got back. This was a lot of fun. The route started at the QSL in Polaris, went up to Slow Motion in Sunbury, then Golden China in Reynoldsbur, over to Yellow Rose Tattoo in Zanesville, through the Triple Nickle, to Cool Spot in Coolville, then all the way across to Infiniti of Dayton, then ended up at the QSL in Beavercreek. Official distance was 333mi, and official time was 6:32 (roughly the length of a chemo treatment). Trophies were given for closest time, closest distance, Best Costume, and Best use of "Survivor Pink". I came in second closest on time, but I also took it easy on the long highway transitions. I made up a LOT of time on 555. (The BRZ was fantastic on the Triple Nickle. Loved it). After 555 was a long stretch on 50 which had some great scenery for those who wanted a more relaxed drive. This was a lot of fun and a lot of good people. Some cool cars showed up including a ZR1 and a GT-R. The girl driving the GT-R was dressed as Lara Croft, and a there were a pair of themed C6s. One was black and was piloted by Darth Vader (with "My other car is a Death Star" on the rear bumper). The other 'vette was an homage to Top Gun with Maverick and Goose. Closest Time went to a guy in an Acura Integra. He also got best use of Pink as he lost his hood on the highway the previous week and painted his new one pink for the run. Best costume went to Darth. And I think a '90s Grand Prix won closest distance. Some unofficial prizes were given for shortest time (the Grand Prix), Shortest distance (A G35 I think), and slowest time (the ZR1 which got lost and may or may not have got a love letter from the cops ). Fun was had, the rain wasn't too bad, 555 was dry in the later half, and only one case of POPO. I hope more of CR shows up for next year.
  17. Dammit, was hoping this was Lancia related. Still, very cool. I hope the size of his balls doesn't keep him from hitting Mach 1.
