Interesting. Seeing that car always made me wonder how that was possible on a rotary...
-
Last year there was another FD that for some reason had a really lopey idle. It was really confusing... the smooth idle is a v8, the lopey idle is a rotary.

I would pay God a large sum of money for it not to rain on Saturday. Or at least to just rain, then stop... not this drizzle all day crap.
-
Are you the red Z06, license plate Z OHH 6? If so, you were parked next to my miata all day. Sorry I had to make your car look so bad in comparison
-
Yup. That was the reason I didn't buy one when I bought my GLI. I heard maintenance on an S4 is VERY often, and VERY expensive. Even though I said this already, I want to vote again for an e36 M3. Not quite as fast in a straight line as some of the other cars mentioned (mid to high 14's I would guess), but a great DD, and also feels right at home on a road course. Oh, and you can get it in coupe or sedan form.
-
srt4 would fit your criteria. If you can drive something else in the snow, I would definitely look for an e36 M3.

Thanks... it's got some suspension gremlins I found a few weeks ago, but other than that it should be a pretty well prepared car. And my incedent was only about a 1 minute delay From where I was (working corner 1), we didn't see any of the corners red flag that mr2, so we were blaming the corner workers. I guess we were wrong...
-
I agree. You basically just throw it in second and forget it. Sometimes you will see a corner (like that little 180 degree pivot we had yesterday) where you can shift back to first, but you don't really have to. I left my car in second the whole run(mostly because it fights me pretty hard shifting 2-1, haha). As a noob, I think I would recommend the rsx over the mustang. Just my $.02. Ben - already have the driver school in my outlook calander Yeah, the t-bird is pretty cool to watch. I can't wait to see what it does when those slicks actually stick...
-
Yeah, I have chad's old miata. I thought you were being sarcastic saying "that was awesome," meaning "thanks a lot for making us all wait an extra 15 minutes in the rain." My bad...
-
Mine wasn't the long delay at the beginning of the afternoon session, if that's what you're thinking of. I hit it at the end of the second afternoon session... it was back up and running a minute later. I felt really bad about it though. I wasn't doing anything stupid, I think I just flicked a little too hard coming out of the chicago box... I got loose, countersteered, and the next thing I knew I was facing the box. I'm still very iffy on where the limits of the car are, and didn't think I was really pushing it that hard.

I think what he meant for the GASS event is that if you don't come both days, it doesn't count towards the GASS event. But I think if you come only sunday, then you would still get the OVR points. I'm not sure about that, just how I interpreted it. Please please please keep the rain away Sunday. One timing box mark on my front bumper is enough for me BTW, Ben - Could you try to ride along with me for a run or two if possible next weekend? I think it's safe to say you have shown you know how to pilot a rwd roadster (last year), and me.... not so much.

Aren't there some states that make you pay based on how much the car is worth? I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered reading that some states charge xx% of the value of the car for plates every year. And Ben, I feel your pain. When I sold my talon and didn't renew TURBOED for the first time in 5 years, it was rough...

My opinion... Two things to save you down the road #1 - get the fmic. It can't cost more than a few hundred more (or the same, depending on what used parts you find) to get a well put together fmic kit, compared to hard piping. Just pony up and do it. But, make sure that it is easily adaptable if you go to a big turbo sometime down the line. #2 - I would go the simple route, 3" all the way back with no government power suckers added. I thought the same thing you are thinking when I first bought exhaust for my (old) talon. Got a full 2.5" with a high flow cat. One summer later I was replacing the cat with a test pipe, and one summer after that, I had done fmic, turbo, etc etc, and was wishing I had a 3". And as stated earlier, the 3" is minimal if any price up. Everyone who thinks "ehh this'll do" when it comes to performance car parts will always regret it later. Just my $.02

Bah, any car that puts down more than 100hp is cheating.

Need some opinions on VW 1.8t jettas(wolfsburg and GLI)

I've had my '04.5 GLI for a little over a year now (bought with 40k, now 55k miles), and I could not be happier with it as a DD. Sporty ride, nice exterior styling, german interiors are sweet, and I get a solid 32mpg on the highway. There really aren't any major problems to watch out for, at least that I have ever heard of. All in all a very solid car... -
Nowhere. I'll be honest, I made up the overdone thing. But, I do know for a fact that "ribs afficianado's" want to be able to pick up the rib. They are not down with meat falling off the bone. And I agree that to replicate cincy, we would need a goldstar. Gotta drive by something on the way to skyline
-
Holy mother of God, how does a person manage to amass all that stuff? Did anyone else see the picture of the giant light-up arby's sign next to a car?
-
Gross. Skyline>Goldstar. It has way too much cinnamon.
-
Ribs are SUPPOSED to stay on the bone when you pick them up. Falling off the bone means they are overdone. I will finally feel at home here in Columbus with a Skyline, a Graeters and Montgomery Inn within 10 minutes of my apartment.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as I talk it over with the seller, and we are agreed on the price put on the title, then the IRS cannot do a thing about it. All they can do is ask both parties what the price was. If both parties say the price on the title, then case closed. You guys must have a big red asterisk next to your SS# in the IRS system or something to be questioned that hard, haha. The IRS can go F themselves if they think they can tell me what price I can or cannot sell/buy a car for.

Anyone installed their own projector and screen?

I threw a drop in k&n on my jetta last summer and saw a solid 1-2 mpg gain. Power-wise... it's so fast, I don't even care
-
I know! Let's pick a day, and tell everyone not to buy gas on that day. That'll teach them! Wait, has that been tried before?
-
LX or EX? What kind of gas milage does it get?

"Boilermakers and boilermaker mechanics make, install, and repair boilers, closed vats, and other large vessels or containers that hold liquids and gases. Boilers heat water or other fluids under extreme pressure for use in generating electric power and to provide heat and power in buildings, factories, and ships. Chemicals, oil, beer, and hundreds of other products are processed and stored in the tanks and vats made by the Nation’s boilermakers." Doesn't have to be steam anymore Personally, I enjoy welding boilers for large coal fire powerplants, but to each his own. Or maybe I went to Purdue, one of the two
