This is likely a result of the apple interface to your tv. I also did the trial thing yesterday, added the motor trend app to my Roku 3 (not even a new one), and the quality was perfect and audio was actually better I think than compared to using the youtube app through the same Roku.

Right now we're thinking new CR-V or Forester potentially, might even consider the new Tiguan. Gotta test drive some sheeeit here soon. In an effort to avenge our friend Sully here, I likely will not take our business to the local Jeep dealer.

10-4 lol. Thanks for the honestly my man.

We're talking Cherokee here rather than Grand Cherokee, right? Wife is interested in a small/midsize suv and Cherokee was potentially in the running (though not a looker imo). At what kind of mileage is it needing these kinds of repairs? Opinions on ownership otherwise?

Didn't Tim just lease one of these? He should have good info. The Infiniti dealer would too I suppose .

My home doesn't have foundation issues, but it did need the entire 30' wide garage slab demo'd out and re-poured as it had buckled (turned out to have had uncompacted and too granular fill material). My advice on your issue is to make an offer/enter into contract contingent on inspection, and then coordinate a foundation repair contractor to be on-site during the same window of time as your home inspector. That way the inspector can note the issue on his report, and the foundation guy can give you a quote on what the repair will cost. In my case, I had quotes on the garage slab which I shared with the sellers representative after inspection, and the seller agreed to pay for half the cost. In my view that was pretty fair given the way the house was already priced. It's a win-win, as you have an understanding of your total investment including repair costs, and you can use that info as a negotiation tool if you choose to move forward.

I had Keens that I liked a lot also. Always comfy and supportive. My complaints were the slightly heavy steel toe (which a composite to option would resolve) and the fact that their waterproof boots would make my feet sweat BADLY. Like trenchfoot by day's end..... They were no joke stand in 6 inches of water waterproof though, so there's that.

While I agree that there are negatives as noted already, The wife and I will probably be going to help her pick some options for her next car. She is leaning CR-V and I'm trying to steer the ship toward Forester XT.... Maybe Jetta sportwagen or whatever too, just don't want anything slow as balls unless it get 50 mpg. Would consider a new Equinox or Terrain in diesel but they're pretty ugly and I'm still salty from the joys of 70k+ mile GM small car maintenance. In March I see value in the ability to go sit in everything in one dry warm place for $8 instead of trying to bounce from dealer to dealer in the cold.

Since there are a couple Thorogood recommendations in here, these are what I wear: http://www.midwestboots.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/Thorogood-804-4375-L.jpg http://www.midwestboots.com/product/TH804-4375.html

I wear boots 8-10 hours a day, every workday. I generally buy workboots every year, and after a year I recycle the old pair to the garage/yard, then eventually to the truck for "just in case" use. I had Wolverine Marauders for several years and they wear well but the pad in the bottom generally wears down after a year. After that I had two pairs of Keen workboots, which were very nice and comfortable but were a bit heavy in steel toe configuration. My current boots are Thorogoods and I like them very much. Lighter, very comfortable, and they looks like a normal thick soled shoe with pants on. They have worn somewhat better than previous boots as well. I'm not certain whether mine are waterproof but I think they do offer those.

Marc Stock recommended Shawn Allman with Mitchell Insurance. Has been competitive for my wife and I (house + 3 cars) and also helped my dad save some money (house, 3 cars + RV).

Not me, but my dad is planning a garage build for their new house (a badass log home that I'm super jealous of), and he will be forced to build into a grade most likely. This came to mind and I remembered how cool it was with the rear attic entry, etc. It's amazing how perfect a match to their lot this is, actually.

Shot in the dark here, I've used search and had no luck. Things I remember. - Guy was a teacher, like carpentry /shop / industrial ed I think - Moved out of state somewhere, but stayed a member. I'm thinking upstate New York? - Built a garage with his father, cut into a hillside. I recall block foundation, extra deep, block stair-stepped up the hillside a couple courses above grade..... With my luck you guys will dig it up for me and all the pics will be broken Photobucket hosting, but oh well. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need a "help me pick a pole barn" thread. Good luck in your search!

Also, do you have a heat pump? If no, adding one would be hugely beneficial, even if you are all forced air electric heat currently. Condensing unit outside does not indicate heat pump, FYI, as it could be an A/C only unit. Need to confirm tyoe and configuration. If you have no heat pump you are left with no choice but electric "emergency heat" coils as your primary heat source.
-
You could nearly install a geothermal system for 20k. That aside, I would also advise going natural gas if you have service available nearby. Furnace conversions are somewhat cheap, honestly. You do have a forced air furnace correct? You're not referring to baseboard electric heat throughout? Electric heating efficiency lags so far behind natural gas orr propane that I probably wouldn't invest that much in a PV or turbine system + battery storage (at least not for replacing heating capacity).

Pardon me sir, it's pronounced Porchmuth. Get it right you summinabitch!

Truly no offense to anybody, but I continue to be surprised to learn about who among friends, acquaintances, co-workers, and fellow usernames voted for Donny T. I'm not delusional about the variety of motivations behind that decision, but just surprised almost every time. Viewpoints and red vs blue (mostly) aside, even once I'm able to understand at least somewhat the reasoning some voters had, I fall back to the voices in my head screaming "Ok sure, fine. But c'mon this fuckin guy gets trusted to carry the flag and be your voice, really?!"

Just call it a RebelCat, and avoid all the political tiptoeing around the Rebel Yell stuff.

I hear you loud and clear, and if you and and your fellow Ram engineers are that confident things have changed, marketing needs to offer a corrosion warranty with some teeth. I think that alone will improve consumer confidence, including my own. Other than that, only seeing current body style trucks driving around WITHOUT huge rust holes in 10 years is going to change perceptions. All that BS aside, I do think the new trucks look good, though more like a generic distillation of current F150/Tundra body styles like others have noted. Looks like the big chrome wheel option in the one picture needs more sidewall to proportionally fill the wheel well though. My immediate reaction is that it looks like someone slapped some aftermarket wheels on there but chose not to go up a tire size to avoid paying for speedo recalibration .
-
Actually Mallard, you're a Chrysler employee, right? Why don't you float the idea of a 10-15 year corrosion warranty on new trucks (one that covers more than holes rusted completely through critical components). Fewer features! More Warranty!
-
As much as I want to be a Ram guy and still love my 07 Ram, I don't see myself buying another one until the rust issues are addressed. This truck in aluminum would potentially make me a buyer. Touchscreens and nice leather are great and all but I probably wouldn't call it a worthwhile purchase if it starts to develop body rot @ only 7 yrs and 75k miles old (story of my current truck). I won't buy a new aluminum Ford, I'll just keep driving my slightly rusty payed off Ram until something new comes along that I feel will survive Ohio winters.
