  1. I've shot that many thunderbolts (and more) through my Marlin 25N over a day without any cleaning until I get home. No issues as of yet. It's also eaten straight through a brick OLD OLD "super-x" .22LR that Grandpa gave me, all without issue. Probably just a bolt-action thing, but it has the micro-groove barrel and the rifling is still perfect.
  2. We need a bigger diesel crew on here. I'm interested to see what you've got.
  3. The 4.8 is a dog compared to the 5.3. It is less powerful but provides no better mileage. Several of our fleet trucks at work were ordered with the 4.8 (2008 models mostly) in an attempt to get better mileage, and they've seen no difference over the 5.3 trucks.
  4. I have camping reservations the 25th - 27th at another national forest campground along the Ohio river. I'm really hoping things are "resolved" by then.
  5. I'd vote for a Tahoe or Yukon as well, or even a suburban if it suits your needs. They have served my parents very well across the several generations they've owned. Just be sure that yours has the 5.3L, not the 4.8.
  6. Outdoor gun range or not? I see outdoor archery clearly.
  7. I still bought a couple of these last week myself, but be aware these are 400 round bricks, not 500 like usual.
  8. GO IN THE NATIONAL PARK. Screw everything else. It always amazes me how many people go there and talk about the outlet stores and shopping, putt-putt, restaurants, etc. etc. Go hike, do a driving tour, rent a bike one morning and ride the cades cove loop (only 2 mornings a week), do the Roaring Fork motor trail and stop at some of the original log homes, churches, structures... Do the things there that you can't do in Ohio.
  9. Cabelas had a decent amount of .22LR Tuesday afternoon at lunch time, both as 100 round hollowpoint packs and 50 round target boxes. I bought my limit. Stopped back after work just to see, and all but a handful of the 50 round boxes were gone. Week before, a friend bought a used 10/.22 from Cabelas and he told the salesmen he didn't have an .22 for it. The guy went to "check in the back", and magically found "the very last box of .22LR we have" and sold it to him. Cool story I thought.
  10. 6.7 Cummins only need headstuds once once you turn a tuner up to the point where the turbo is operating outside if its map. Sub 500hp/850tq range on stock fuel and turbo is generally considered safe for stock headbolts. You will read lots of stuff on blown head gaskets, but 90% of the time its on stock vgt turbo trucks that are turned up higher than stock bolts can handle. Its also been pretty well documented that letting the motor come up to temperature before beating on it is extremely effective at reducing/eliminating head gasket issues on a mildly tuned truck. For what its worth, my truck should be making 800+ tq and I'm not running studs. No issues at all and ive been running the same setup since January. Definitely do some research on delete tuning availability too. Epa regulations banned most companies from selling delete-capable tuners in the US. I'm honestly not sure where things stand on workarounds, but I'm sure they are out there. I went with efiLive just before the ban was announced and I've been very happy with the tuning.
  11. I'm a big fan of the Cummins 6.7, mine is an 07 and its deleted, while dads is a 2010 bone stock. Both mine and my dads are manuals FYI. I've done the majority of the maintenance on both trucks. My truck towed a gooseneck horse trailer for its first 40k miles until I bought it, and my dad tows a 10k travel trailer all over the country with his (it now has around 85k on it). When not towing, the truck is my dads daily driver. What questions do you have?
  12. I had to match whites on my Stealth, and though it isn't the creampuff yours is, it is pretty low mile with 78k on it, as a '93. What I can tell you is that clearcoat will yellow over time, and with white specifically this can be evident when compared to new "water clear" clearcoat. If the car has always had a good coat of wax on it, and being garaged, yellowing of the clear may be very minor. You really won't notice until you get panels side-by-side though, if at all.
  13. How/where have you gotten into a jet? I "visited" the military base and was instantly under attack by MPs and cops. I found a helicopter and had it in the air a while but eventually police helicopters got me. I did find some ATVs in the north and cruised those through the mountains for a while.

  16. GTA V is currently only available for xbox 360, and xbox 360 games will not work in your xbox 1 (not backwards compatible). HOWEVER, you can plug your xbox 360 INTO your xbox 1 through its hdmi input . Right now there has been no announcement of a planned release for xbox 1.
  17. So last week Taylor Chevrolet ran the fuel injector test as listed in the TSB above, and two of the 4 injectors are bad. I'm going to replace all 4 injectors myself this weekend with the GM "second design" injectors, but the required calibration file update will still need done next week. Right now I have a standing appointment Wednesday morning at Taylor Chevrolet in Lancaster to perform the update, and they are quoting $105 to do the flash. Cordell, I took your advice and asked them if they were rounding up the book hours on the calibration labor, and told them I had heard it booked for .4 hours. The response I got was "any software update done with the TECH-2 is a standard 1 hour of labor". I called Jeff Wyler for a second opinion (shitty service dept. from what I hear), and got the same line of "GM warranty time even calls for 1 hour, I'm not sure who told you .4 hours...." Anybody out there able to do this flash for me any cheaper with a TECH-2? Just trying to save the GF some money if possible. Thanks
  18. I also just called Chevrolet customer care, and explained the issue and noted the TSB above. They are not agreeing to cover any parts out of warranty, but have agreed to waive the $90 diagnosis fee through Taylor Chevrolet in Lancaster. From what I understand they will run the injector balance test to confirm or deny the injectors as the culprit. If they are I'll likely replace them myself, but I'm assuming they will expect me to pay to flash the calibration files listed above after I install the new "second design" injectors. Is this calibration flash something that could be done through someone with a TECH-2 or am I stuck with the dealer?
  19. I found this TSB: Document ID# 2046855 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Check Engine Light On, DTCs P0171, P0300, P1174 Set (Perform Injector Test/Replace Injectors and Reprogram ECM, if Necessary) #08-06-04-001 - (01/02/2008) Models: 2006-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR 2007 Pontiac G5, G6 2006-2007 Saturn ION with 2.4L Engine (VIN B, P - RPO LE5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition Some customers may comment on the check engine light being illuminated. A scan tool may reveal DTC P0171, P0300 or P1174 set as current or in history. Cause This condition may be caused by the plugging of one or more of the injector director plate orifices which results in a lean condition. Correction Important: This condition cannot be corrected by cleaning the injector(s). Perform an injector balance test using the Active Fuel Injector Tester (AFIT), CH-47976. Refer to the Fuel Injector Diagnosis (w/CH47976) procedure in SI. If any injector is identified as having a lean condition, replace all four injectors with the revised injectors. After installing the new injectors, reprogram the ECM with updated calibration files using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS) application. There are two calibration part numbers that are valid for "Engine Operation". Select the part number with the description that reads for vehicles with second design injector. The injector has a dark blue overmold color for this repair. Important: The fuel injectors must be replaced and the new calibration files must be installed to ensure a complete repair. Failure to perform both repairs will result in the customer returning with the same condition. If a vehicle returns with the same condition after having this repair performed, the technician should first verify that the complete repair was performed before continuing with SI diagnostics. Parts Information Part Number Description Qty 12602480 Injector, Fuel 4 Warranty Information Important: For claims to be paid, injector balance test results must be recorded on the repair order.
  20. Thanks sir, all of that is helpful. I will start with some phone calls after work tomorrow (today).
  21. My girlfriend drives a 2007 Cobalt SS NA 2.4L, and it's been a pretty good car for her so far. It has just under 90k on it, and it has had a check engine light on and off for the last few months. The code is P1174 "Fuel Trim Cylinder Imbalance", and the car still runs great and mileage does not appear to be affected so far. From what I read this can be a ton of different things from Air Filter, O2 sensor, coils/plugs, throttle body/MAF, and lastly fuel injectors. As for fuel injectors though, from what I read there was a recall or service bulletin out at one point that called for testing injectors, sometimes replacing them under warranty, and following up the replacement injectors with an updated ECM flash. Obviously the car is now out of warranty. I'm hoping somebody is somewhat familiar with this issue, as I don't want to just throw parts at it. I'm capable of replacing everything fuel or ignition related, but I'm not sure how to go about testing injectors and whatnot, and I would obviously need to see the dealer for an ECM flash if required. Any tips are appreciated.
  22. Nah, doubtful there will be any rustling. The V8 is 5.0L with 300ish HP and 500ish TQ, the I6 in the HD rams is 6.7L with 400ish HP and 800ish TQ . It could be argued that the mall crawling diesel truck buyers might be drawn to the Nissan, for those that don't need to tow 20k pounds. I imagine there is a pretty reasonable market for a half-ton diesel truck though, and I can see the American diesel / Jap truck combo even drawing in some loyal domestic buyers. If they put the cummins in these things though http://l.yimg.com/lj/api/res/1.2/0GvB1eox5YHZxFDs_CDLMw--/YXBwaWQ9eWF1dG9zO2g9MjIxO3c9NDQxO2ZpPWZpbGw7cHhvZmY9NTA7cHlvZmY9MDs-/http://l.yimg.com/dv/aic/nissan_truck_nv_cargo_van_2500_standard_roof_sv_v8_2013 I could see it being a huge homerun, since the diesel GM and Ford full size fans have been gone for a while. Me too Clay, but don't get your hopes up. I understand manual trans sales have been steadily declining for the past few years in Ram HD trucks, and there have been hints about them discontinuing them.
  23. The trailer obstacle course was fun to watch too. Got some real noobs there lol. Nothing like drifting an 8000 lb dually with a 10000 lb trailer attached though
