  1. For the most part the gun will be for range use, but with the intent of getting comfortable and accurate with it. As my only handgun I suppose I would consider it a home defense gun too, though my 870 does that pretty well too. I don't see myself carrying anything in the immediate future. Whatever glock I shot (need to find out for sure which it actually was lol) I did not like the feel of. I was relatively accurate with it, I just wasn't a huge fan. Perhaps with more time I would be, because I know glocks have many fans. I will definitely plan a trip to the range, and maybe take up somebody on their offer to meet me there. My next few weekends are putting me out of town, so I'm unfortunately stuck with weekdays only free until the end of the month. This is a pretty good list, along with a few others I need to see in person. The USP is a little more than I'd like to spend, but I am digging the CZ and FN both from reading alone. I see the CZ is made in the Czech Republic, but I'm having a hard time determining if the FN is made in the US or Belgium... I'm generally a made in usa kind of guy but I realize with firearms that may be a little silly.
  2. This is probably very wise. I know about Ohio Valley in Lancaster, but I haven't been there in years. Any other suggestions within an hour or so of Pickerington? Anywhere I might be able to rent the CZ and FN at the same time, they are two of the less common makes that I'd like to get a feel for.
  3. That's all good info thank you. I think I am leaning more and more toward something in 9mm. Thanks for the offer too! FN did not ring a bell at first, but I see that they're the makers of the five-seven so I guess I'm a little familiar. The fact that yours is the first of several FN suggestions also makes me pretty interested, and that you also like a 1911-y feel. Thanks for that too, all in one place. Value is definitely an issue, and it sounds like I definitely need to look into the P07. CZ is reputable too I assume? I'm going to look into them some more myself. As for the M&Ps I don't have any real gripes about my dad's, I just don't shoot it all that well, and everybody has one lol. Extra points for unique stuff too for me. Another FN fan... I'm liking the sounds of this thing. I will have to go check these out in person. That and the CZ for sure. As for the range of 1911 models, from what I'm seeing there isn't a decent one in the $500-650 range, am I correct here? There are admittedly a ton though so maybe I've just not found them.
  4. Thanks for all the info so far. I'm going to bed but I'm sure I'll have questions tomorrow. Keep it coming.
  5. I'm considering buying a handgun. I've grown up around .22s and shotguns, but I don't own my own pistol or have tons of experience shooting them. With some guidance from my uncle I bought my dad a full size S&W M&P .45 for his 50th birthday a while back, and I've shot a few friends' guns over the years. For cost of ammunition alone, I'm steering away from a .45, and probably considering a 9mm or .40cal. I'm probably not interested in a .22 as my only handgun, but possibly in the future. For what it's worth I have pretty average sized hands, not big but not small, but I generally don't like the feel of the compact guns I've held. In recent memory I've shot: - S&W M&P full size .45 - Like it okay, fits my hand decently. Can shoot accurately enough with it. Like the simplicity of teardown (only one I've personally had apart) - Ruger PX4 full size 9mm - I was actually very accurate with this gun, but HATED the trigger pull. - Glock 19 9mm (not sure what gen but newer) - Shot decently accurate with it, and no huge complaints but it didn't feel great in my hands. I've never shot a 1911, but I really like the way they feel in my hands. They just seem to "point" nice and naturally. To be fair though I've not held one with a loaded mag. From what I see decent 1911 models seem significantly more expensive too. I would say my priorities are value, accuracy, and reliability - probably in that order. I also don't want a gun that is super picky about ammunition, as I've heard that complaint from several friends. Not sure if all this info is helpful or not, but are there specific models that sound like they might suit me well? I've started doing some research but I find so much information it's tough to sort through. Any tips on decent sales going on would be appreciated too. Thanks for the help.
  6. Bump for today. Buy these.... I did try returning them to Walmart, but they don't carry this exact Blazer model....
  7. Thanks for the suggestions, I will probably make some phone calls tonight and see if anybody can beat Amazon's price of $16/ea for the 10" units. That is a really good deal, but it's just way more than I need. Thanks for the offer though.
  8. Bought these for my Grandpa this past Christmas, and his trailer actually used a different type of fixture. As such these are new in the package, unopened. This is the exact kit I'm selling: http://www.amazon.com/Blazer-C5721-Submersible-Trailer-Trailers/dp/B000EFN03K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375284129&sr=8-2&keywords=blazer+led+trailer The kit includes the taillights (with integrated license plate light), license plate bracket, and the complete wiring harness front to rear. I'm pretty firm on getting $35 for this, since they're brand new, but it's too late to return them now. I would also consider some .45 ACP as payment if that's an option. I live on the east side in Canal Winchester, but I'm all over Columbus for work.
  9. Will do thanks! Does he sell these though or what? Discount ?
  10. I mostly assumed nobody would have these. For what it's worth, I'm using them to make underwater light fixtures...
  11. This is a long shot I realize, but if anybody has one or multiple of these sitting around I need some for a project I'm building. The standard size fits a 2.5"x10" filter cartridge, and the larger size fits a cartridge that is 4.5" diameter. For example, these are what I'm looking for: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Ppjk4q2tL._SL500_AA300_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Pentek-158116-Clear-Filter-Housing/dp/B0045LS8QS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1375041108&sr=8-9&keywords=clear+filter+housing Or the big one: http://www.amazon.com/4-5-Whole-House-Water-Filter/dp/B004C413W4/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1375041239&sr=1-4&keywords=clear+filter+sump I'm not using these for water filtration, so if they are slightly damaged but still transparent I can still use them. Let me know. Thanks for looking!
  12. For what it's worth, I have a full-size .45 that I like very much.
  13. You planning on that much sidewall? Car in the picture looks good.
  14. +1 I think the fact that they're Chevy's and Fords can be pretty well attributed to the fact that their hauling racecars. Brand loyalty and so on, while Dodge has a racing presence, Ford and GM are absolutely more prevalent in racing.
  15. You cannot get a longbed with the MegaCab from the factory, but several companies do the conversion for you. They are nuts when done, but I would not want to park one . http://www.longbedmytruck.com/ These things are loooooooooooong. BEFORE: http://image.dieselpowermag.com/f/diesel-trucks/longbedmytruckcom/28664956/before.jpg AFTER: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/attachments/2010-2012-general-discussion/21222d1264636560-2010-long-bed-mega-cab-after.jpg
  16. That review is of a 2012 though, and for 2013-2014 the Dodge trucks have a higher output motor available, a different 6 speed auto option, and a completely new emissions system.
  17. Some of the info above is questionable and some of it is wrong. For the 2012 Dually, your buddy could have purchased a Cummins Ram with anywhere from 610 lb feet all the way up to 800 lb ft, with a rear gear of 3.42 - 4.10s, so without specifics info like "it's really slow" isn't super accurate. They have classically never been as fast as the Fords and Chevy's unloaded, but the torque curve of the Cummins (being an Inline 6) has ALWAYS been better with a trailer behind it. For 2013+, the 850 lb ft. Cummins is available with the Aisin Transmission, which is the same trans that has been used on the 4500/5500 Cab and Chassis Rams since 2007ish. As for not using DEF, this is not true. For 2013-2014, all Cummins Rams use DEF, in combination with the DPF in the exhaust, and a HUGE reduction in Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
  18. Trans issues on stock trucks (truly stock, not stock parts with a tune) are VERY far and few between with the Dodge 68RFE. You either have unlucky friends, or they're misrepresenting their trucks. People don't seem to be able to let go of Dodge's past with poor transmissions... As for quad cab rear doors, yes they were a joke, back in 2009. Since 2010 the quad cab is not even available on 2500 and 3500 rams, only the Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab. The Dodge Crew cab is actually larger than the comparable Chevy and Ford 4 doors, and obviously the Mega Cab is even bigger yet, but it comes with only the 6 foot bed. For reference.... Biggest 4 door cab you could get on a 3500 Ram from 2003-2009: http://images.canadianlisted.com/nlarge/2008-dodge-ram-3500-slt-quad-cab-4x4-diesel-dually-34888-bad-credit-experts--apply-now--604auto-com_7996297.jpg Smallest 4 door cab you can get on a 3500 Ram from 2010-2014: http://1-photos2.ebizautos.com/1070/10548006/10548006_1.jpg Just to clarify .
  19. Im assuming brand new? If you can find yourself a 2013 3500 with the aisin 6 speed and high output (850 lb ft) motor, the ford wont touch it with a trailer behind it. My dad has put 100k trouble free towing miles on his 2010 Ram 2500, and he is planning on trading his in on a 2013 or 2014 3500 with the aisin trans. For 2013 on they made some significant powertrain and chassis improvements to the heavy duty rams, and as you noticed the interior has been made even nicer too.
  20. What is being discussed is leaving only the fan ON, not both the heat pump and the fan. Ordinarily the fan cycles on only when the outside unit is running, so keeping the fan running will circulate the air better and keep the upstairs from holding heat/humidity. As for added cost, yes it will cost a bit, but the fan is really only a small part of the energy draw to cool your house.
  21. You may also want to verify that you have adequate return air ductwork from the upstairs. If you're not returning enough warm humid air back to the unit it will just be trapped. Whether your unit has enough ass to move the air could be a potential issue as well, but it has to have a viable pathway in order get sufficient air changes upstairs to condition it.
  22. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x33/spankis/20130713_203821_zps6d652f36.jpg I got out to alum marina around 7 to do some night fishing on the peninsula you're talking about. Just before the sun went down this sailboat just sails right into it, only sailing or drifting or whatever but moving enough to bury the nose in the mud/rocks. Couple other guys fishing nearby screamed and yelled at the guy seen on the deck in just a speedo but he was waaaaaaay passed out. When he finally woke up he was very clearly super hammered and white as a ghost. Without saying anything he just put his kicker motor down and backed the thing out of there. He then just headed on down the lake. I'm not sure if the boat was hurt or not but it looked like he was the only one on it. After that adventure and well after dark, a ~25' cuddy cabin was haulin ass and heading straight into the peninsula. Had everybody fishing tonight not screamed and yelled at them it would have been over for the boat. He put it in full reverse less than 50 yds from shore and BARELY got it stopped... I'm still out here so fingers crossed they'll be some more entertainment.
  23. Would coming out to Busch be worthwhile as a spectator? Ill be at goodguys tomorrow all day but I've never been out to Busch. Similar to mopar nats as far as a cruise/park or am I gonna be wasting my time without a fun car?
