Changing a transmission by yourself sucks v. FML
B3NN3TT replied to Browning's topic in Tech and Tips
Get some bolts that are the same thread pitch, only a good 2-3 inches longer. You can insert a couple of those, at opposing corners, and pull it into place. Then you can get some of the real bolts in, and swap out the long ones. -
I ordered it back on the 3rd of August from Amazon, but it hasn't arrived yet - which is a crock. I expected them to ship it early enough to get it to my house on release day, like Apple does. The few people I've talked to about it so far have been pretty happy with the ease of upgrade and the huge amount of hard drive space they have gotten back.

My impression was that the insurance wasn't on the dog itself; it was just a required minimum of $100k liability coverage on your homeowner's policy.

I always heard good things about Bee-Line. I took my car there a few months ago; they do good work - plus they are fast and affordable. NTB comes highly recommended as well.

It should have been a 12-hour HBO miniseries, really. I saw this last night. I enjoyed it, but I can't tell if I actually enjoyed it on its own merits. I have a dog-eared copy of the WATCHMEN paperback that I bought in about 1990, so I'm pretty attached to the source material. So I might just be responding to what I know about the story, and not what I saw in the movie - like my mind is filling in a lot of blanks without me knowing it. Regardless, I did enjoy the movie. The re-write was creative enough to not make me groan, and it was indeed beautiful. A Little too much CGI here and there, but what can you do.

I haven't really stretched it to the max yet, but I think the estimates are around 6 hours. Less with video, of course.

I just bought a 16 gb iPod Touch a couple of weeks ago. Like you, I normally use a Shuffle, so I'm not accustomed to carrying around hundreds of gigs of music. And since I have to plug it in to the Mac to recharge it anyway, I just add new music then. 16 gb's is more than enough room for me to work with. The apps are awesome, and it really is an elegant little piece of machinery. Plus, you can get all kinds of accessories, since it's built on the same form factor as the iPhone. I recommend it - especially since you already have a Shuffle.

I had a 1980, years ago. It was a 4-speed manual. I ran it up to 200,000 miles and sold it for $200. It was awesome in the snow.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is just re-organization protection. It happens all the time. Marvel Comics filed Chapter 11 in the late 90's. They're still around... bigger than ever.

I was pretty stoked to se Luc Besson back to making good action movies again. And I also like the idea of Liam Neeson finally getting a good kickass role; he's done so much sucky stuff lately, and I know he's better than that. Haven't seen Taken yet, but I'm excited to hear this. I'm planning on checking it out ASAP.

Oh don't even go there... Don't be a backyard breeder. If you really want to get your money back on them CORRECTLY, you'll have to sell pups for $4000, because that's how much cash you SHOULD put into health certification and testing for the parents. Enjoy your pet. Don't feed the puppy-mill monster. As far as finding one - search long and hard. Don't buy from anyone who has both parents on the premises. Don't buy from a "breeder" who doesn't screen their potential homes. Make sure the parents have hip, knee and heart certification. Hearing certs if they are white. And if you aren't going to show in AKC, spay or neuter as soon as physically viable.

When I was just a little guy, my dad bought a '68 GTO. The Pre-Judge model; same body style, just a little more understated. It was a 6.5L with the Hurst-shifted 4-on-the-floor, black with red vinyl inside. Vacuum-operated headlight louvers, hood scoops. It was the coolest car I'd ever known. He sold it when I was 15; I guess to keep me from killing myself. Because I probably would have. Looked pretty much just like this, only with red seats. http://img.skitch.com/20090117-c77egx535bamjfnr59f59mx647.jpg

I've had great service from PetLovers AH in Reynoldsburg, on Main Street just off Brice. Worth calling to check and see if they do. Although if you aren't going to show the dog in conformation, why bother? The Europeans don't do it... it's really a bloody mess and a BIG headache.

You are required by law to have at least $100,000 liability coverage on your homeowner's insurance if you own a "bull breed" according to the dog warden's jacked-up subjection of what a bull breed actually is. Since the American Pit Bull Terrier isn't recognized by the AKC, the authorities can call anything with a stocky body and short coat a Pit Bull, and give you all kinds of grief. I have a pair of English Bull Terriers that are, luckily, always excluded from the subjective "bull breed" legislation.

My Bull Terriers are usually kenneled when we're going to be out for more than 4 hors or so. They usually get locked up at night while we're sleeping as well, but sometimes we let them sleep on the couch, if they haven't had much "out time" during the day. We started the crate training on day one, and my 8yo male actually prefers it in there. My 6yo female is way more "people-oriented", so she would much rather be where the people are. I think I used to leave them unattended for short-ish times during the day, like while I was mowing the lawn, or changing oil or whatever. Some of that destructive activity stems from separation anxiety, so you have to build it up a little at a time, so they know you're actually coming back and don't feel like they have to freak out. And I'll second the exercise suggestion. It cures LOTS of problems.

The best thing about Death Race was that there were no CGI crashes. The director apparently mandated that all car scenes would be accomplished with actual live cars, so it's a lot more fun to watch, since it doesn't look so glossy and phony.

Just out of curiosity - do you have any sort of screening process? Handing out pit bull puppies to anybody with some cash is kind of... dodgy...

I saw the finals for that one about 3 months ago... (spoiler - Team Focus wins, LOL)

PetLovers animal hospital in Reynoldsburg. We live all the way on the West side, and we drive our English Bull Terriers all the way over there. She's that good.
-
The Pit Bull Terrier isn't recognized by the AKC. If you want certification, you have to get UKC Certification.

Naw, man; I'd say that thing was built wrong.
-
Ooooooooooooooohh, no... looks like you'll be doing your own rebuild now.

Oil starvation has been known to happen in long, sweeping, high-RPM turns. If the pan isn't baffled correctly, it doesn't matter how well the pump works, or how good the pressure is. If all of the oil gets pushed to one side for ONE SECOND, the bottom end gets starved. The only insurance against this is a properly-baffled pan, or an Accusump. Been taking any fast freeway ramps?

On my car, you can get the fuel pump out of the tank by removing the back seat; there's an access hatch there, so you don't have to drop the tank. Don't know if yours has that "feature" or not, but might be worth checking...
