  1. The broker I used was excellent but has retired.

A friend on CR recommended someone to me, but I did not have a very good experience with him. He claimed to have expertise in the field, but I found I had to walk him slowly through the basics. He was rather secretive about his costs, and in the end, couldn't deliver on his promises. When he stopped communicating (for weeks) on a bid he was supposed to place for me in an auction, his only excuse was that he does taxes on the side and he's been busy because it's tax season. :yuno:

There are a couple of JDM importers in Virginia that people on CR have used and were satisfied with. The advantage to that is you can inspect the car in person, and it's already imported and legally titled. BIGGU on here had a good experience getting his Soarer, and I'm sure he can give you his broker's info if you PM him.

The happy ending for me was that my old broker who had retired did me a solid and found a suitable car for me, which he is importing now. I had been looking for over 6 months for a Figaro to import under the 25 year rule. "Figgy" should be here in about 4 weeks:

That has been my experience too, basically having to walk these people through everything..

I don't need them to source any cars, I have contacts in two countries. Just need to have all the customs paperwork dealt with, and go through the bond process.

    Fiagros rock!

  2. Doc has imported a few cars over from noodle land and tea land, reach out to him im sure he has some insight.

    Thanks.

I know all of the ins and outs, just finding a reliable broker is kinda a chore...

I cannot stand when it takes multiple days to hear back from someone I will be hiring essentially.

  3. Never saw one of these before, had to google it.

    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160227/b3bb557c43a37307c2febf2835cbda1c.jpg

I see one daily, not exaggerating when I say an 80 year old women drives it.

Saw a gt350 yesterday. Didn't sound that different at normal speeds.

  4. I've been trying to decide between a range rover and a cayenne.

I really like the way the range rover sports look and very familiar with the BMW motors that come in them. It seems to be the consensus that the cayennes are more reliable though, even the turbos.

    Decisions decisions.

    Don't buy a range.

They literally start falling apart outside of warranty, and become nothing but constant money pits.

  5. I went to use mine today, and no bueno.

I only get chicken and lettuce on my burrito, and that doesn't qualify as a full burrito I guess, so the code wouldn't work... They just let me have it though.

  6. First of all, that thing is butt ugly. Wow......

Second, the reason that small trucks like this don't work here anymore is that people buy the big F-150/Silverado/Ram and use them as a multipurpose tool. They can drive it to work during the day without being cramped, pile the S.O. and three kids in it at night to go to dinner, and then load up the bed and haul a camper/boat/trailer with them on summer vacations (rare occasions). Buyers want the space and features even if a lot of them don't use the truck's capabilities outside of passenger space.

The last year we had new Rangers for sale, the majority of people who bought them were 60+ year old men. No kids, retired/semi-retired and only had to worry about their wife or the dog that he got once his wife passed.

That's because the majority of people in America who buy trucks are morons. People buy a truck 2+Xs the size they will ever need.

  7. Which store? Stateline? Benson?

    Stateline

Many more issues from that shithole.

They have one service writer, and like one tech that can do anything past oil changes. Nothing but lies comes out of that place.

Car has also been using coolant, and they claimed the level wasn't low, couldn't find a leak either... The best part, they added coolant, and the wrong type at that, pure scum.

Also replaced one piece of trim, completely ripped the rubber weather stripping taking it apart, and left a long scratch from a screwdriver slipping. They didn't say a word till I noticed as I picked the car up, the owner claimed he would have it fixed.. Can't get a single call back from them in two months, and neither could corporate over all the shit that place has put me through. It current has a list of 10 different things wrong with it, taking it to another location. HATE the car.

  8. "i don't have netflix, so if i ever ask you to 'netflix and chill', beware, its a trap"

best line i ever used that worked

so does commenting on something in their profile, or asking them a question about their profile

jokingly, i've told chicks that they were so beautiful, i cried

or asking them to marry me

    surprisingly, they've worked

telling someone they are hot, or anything remotely sexual never works in my experience

Finding common ground, and just acting interested goes a long way in any situation.

  9. Wouldn't surprise me if the Texas market was gamed a bit. The Austin store pulls all kinds of shenanigans that wouldn't fly with any other brand.

That said, you're spot on with FIAT service. So many dealer groups didn't dedicate good techs to the brand and as a result, a lot of people got subpar service. It drives me up a wall when I see our tech fixing other tech's mistakes. We have probably one of the top ten if not top 5 FIAT/Alfa techs in the country at our store. I wish everyone had dedicated guys like him, the brand would be doing so much better. Sadly, we're stuck with a bunch of uninterested salespeople, uninterested techs, and uninterested dealer principles that blame everything on corporate. IMO it comes down to the stores themselves underperforming.

    Yep.

The last time I got my Abarth back from warranty work, they had it for a week, and claimed they repaired everything.... They literally didn't touch it. Still puking oil in the same spot, you could tell they never were in the area, as all the bolts were still soaked in oil, and the same built up crud from oil sticking to it... Side skirt still hanging off the car, etc..

The best is they diagnosed the car last year with the throw out bearing being bad, all the symptoms of it, I knew that before taking it in. They failed to book me for service in their system twice, how they do that twice, I have no idea.

The last time they claim the throw out bearing is fine, and they will not replace it.... Worst ownership experience.

  10. Clearly MINI, Land Rover, and Jaguar are the most reliable cars on the planet because they had 0 reported instances of lemons :lolguy::lolguy::lolguy:

In my case a Range Rover is more reliable than my Abarth, and the Range is a complete pile of dog shit.

Fiat got me once with a shitty car, and even worse service, I would have a 4c if it wasn't for the way things have gone done owning my Fiat.

Edit: If you look at dealer stock in the Texas area, a boat load of the Fiats have lemon branding on the car fax.

  11. I'm a little confused, is that at IG on; trouble light check. Or is that all of the current issues in the car? Maybe my internet sarcasm meter is broken right now.

    Everything is broke.

It's been through a few air ride components, multiple sensors, etc. You only get a few months with no Christmas tree.

To the junkers credit, it has aftermarket brakes, pulley, tune, intake, and long tubes :lolguy:

  12. For how long? any problems? and what year was it?

You should totally buy one, they hold up great once the miles rack up.

  13. You always date/long-term bang a super crazy one before you get married to a less crazy one. They're all crazy. True story.

The super crazy girl I was dating before my wife would always get blackout drunk and never remember anything we did the night before. Let's just say she had a list of things she would never do and as far as she knows, she's stayed true to that list.

Yeah the crazy ones, always make for great stories.....

I've been dating someone for two years, but a few behind her, one crazy still sticks out....

I ended up going to her house, things started to progress, ended up in her room, scale 10 of crazy girl sex... After sex, she kept asking if I wanted to see something exciting.. Said yes, and she told me to open her closet... It was a bunch of police uniforms... She had a fucking husband and the guy was a cop! I've never Christian Bailed on a situation faster than this, she called me a million times afterwards asking why it was a big deal? :lolguy:
