  1. Mack is a first rounder. Meyer said this week he'd easily start for OSU and my goodness did we see that today. Manhandled Decker and punked Mewhort on the interception. On top of the suspensions and cramping and injuries it really seemed like the offense was "jacking around" (as Urban put it) once Linsley came out. Guess he's been battling an injury through camp and they only wanted him to play 15 or so snaps so they did that and Boren was out there the rest of the game. Saw Elflein out there at LG later in the game as well. Was really fun (scary for my Nebraska friend) to watch in that first quarter then just comical/boring the rest of the game. SDSU shouldn't tell us much more given the way they played tonight (throttled by FCS Eastern Illinois). @ Cal will tell us more. They're given Northwestern a game right now on ESPN2.
  2. Multiple sources saying CJ Barnett is out tomorrow with a "lower body injury." Hope it's nothing serious. Should see a lot of Vonn Bell then I guess.
  3. Yeah, like I said in one of my essay posts... Yahoo handed them that case on a silver platter, NCAA sent their people in and fucked it up. Meanwhile Miami continues to recruit top 20 classes and keep themselves out of monster post-season bowl games like the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
  4. Saw something last night where they were expecting to announce something within the next 2-3 or 3-4 weeks. I forget what it said. Given the Manziel punishment I'm expecting a gentle fondling of Miami's balls.
  5. I usually have the volume on pretty low and don't let it get to me too much. Mostly I enjoy making fun of their errors. Who's announcing tomorrow? Mowins and Galloway?
  6. I don't know if the SEC would want to leave the NCAA. They're obviously able to operate under a different set of rules from everyone else. Why would they want to leave a playing field that is uneven to their advantage to go somewhere where all of a sudden everyone else is doing exactly what they are? I mean, I guess regardless of the governing body the SEC will go above and beyond. The Ole Miss-Vandy game last night should have been really fun to watch but as they kept talking about Nkemdiche and Treadwell and the great class Ole Miss just signed (read: bought) it just soured the experience a bit.
  7. The SEC thing is important, no doubt, but some other schools have pulled it off. USC almost got it right but got cocky on top of everything and pissed off the NCAA. Oregon kept their mouths shut, stuck to a story of a lesser crime and got a slap on the wrist. UNC simply changed some stuff around making all of the "perks" available to their athletes in the classroom available to everyone in those classes and all of a sudden their academic scandal went poof. OSU cooperated, self-reported, kept trying to get out ahead of stuff and making asses out of themselves and got what they got. PSU gave the NCAA carte blanche so the NCAA used the Freeh report and hammered them. Miami will be interesting because Yahoo did all the legwork there (as they did with USC and some of Oregon's stuff) and the NCAA sent their people to Miami and they fucked up. I think that covers the non-SEC schools. UNC and Oregon pulled some shit and got off much easier than they should have, OSU and PSU tried to cooperate and got hit harder than they should have, Miami is TBD but they're doing a combo job... keeping their mouths shut like Oregon but very quietly and continuously keeping themselves out of post-season play. And the only reason it looks like OSU got off easy is because they were lucky enough that Urban was available and willing. It was an absolute dream scenario that OSU would come out of this with Urban and the hope of maintaining the quality they had become accustomed to under Tressel. If Urban decides he's not ready yet/he's done with coaching who is at OSU right now? Bo Pelini?
  8. Just looked that case up because I was interested to see if Georgia made the fatal error of being honest and self-reporting the violation to the NCAA (as OSU did - the NCAA is clearly incompetent on their own). Looks like AJ made the mistake of being honest. NCAA asked him for his bank records, he gave them to them, they saw the $1,000 deposit, asked what it was for and AJ told the truth. Sucks for him. Had he denied it he never would have sat a minute.
  9. Should see a good bit of that with Washington, Bennett and Bosa. Spence and Marcus on the outside on passing downs should be fun to watch.
  10. Yeah, hopefully Carter and Hill will work in Schutt's absence and they can just redshirt Schutt. Big dude coming back from a broken foot isn't that easy.
  11. There was a vote and those 8 guys were all within 12 votes of each other. Urban of course made the ultimate decision on how many to name. Here's a text nevada got from one of the "4 wisemen of OSU football" as he calls them (Earle Bruce is one of them, Archie I believe is another, have never really nailed down the other 2) that maybe better explains what I was trying to say...
  12. That's why he made him a captain. Urban wants some of these guys to step up more and he thinks naming them a captain will help with that. As was evident in that weekend before camp with the accusations/arrests of 2 upperclassmen, the team has something of a leadership problem. Apparently, after going through camp, they still have that at least a little bit. I think guys like Mewhort, Shazier and Bryant are probably some of the better leaders out of the 8. The others need to show now that they deserve the title of captain.
  13. 2 favorite things about the captains... 1) Kenny G is one of them. 2) Jordan Hall is not.
  14. They don't go to 9-game conference schedules until 2016 so there will be 2 OOC teams added.
  15. Should only have 2 unless the NIU game was done away with. And I think they actually have to get rid of one in 2016 since the B1G goes to a 9-game conference schedule and the already have BGSU, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Central Michigan for OOC games. Edit: Just saw the thing in an article about the NIU game being "in flux" but their AD seemed to deny that shortly after so looks like it's still on.
  16. OSU @ VT in 2015 will be the Monday night game for Labor Day. If Braxton sticks around for his senior season (I'd say it's 50/50 right now for various reasons) then that means whoever starts in 2015 (Barrett, Jones, Collier) will be starting their first game ever on the road at night... yikes.
  17. Should be in the slot/pivot. About the 18th since Meyer has been here...lol.

  19. nevada posted a big camp update type thing since everything has been pretty locked down. Obviously a lot of unconfirmable stuff but some interesting stuff... my favorite bit being that Ball is working with the ones in Hyde's absence allowing Hall to stay over at H-back where I hope Dontre Wilson takes most of his touches anyway. Here's the big post, take with a grain of salt FWIW, etc., etc...
  20. Yeah, multiple weed things with the last one being in the camp hotel supposedly setting off the fire alarm and causing the entire hotel to be evacuated.
  21. I know there were a lot of arrests and shit at Florida but since I wasn't a Florida fan or a Florida hater I never cared to learn the specifics so I can't say whether or not it's all that different. Murray was an idiot and his idiocy hit its peak during camp right after several players just got in very public trouble and Meyer didn't want to deal with it.
  22. Najee Murray granted release. Was a case where Urban wanted his departure to be "his idea". He gone.
  23. Still one more brother in the Mitchell line, McKinley. Will also likely be a Buckeye at whichever sport he pans out at. And Mickey is really good friends with 2015's #1 RB in the country, Soso Jamabo. Could help there. Another family pipeline OSU has started is the Bosa's. So that'll be fun.
  24. Maybe that has something to do with what Kiffin did last year... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/did-lane-kiffin-try-deceive-colorado-having-players-161506405--ncaaf.html
