Under Armour All-America Game Friday January 4 (5:00 pm ESPN) Ohio State Commits DB Cam Burrows (6-0 206), Trotwood OH DL Joey Bosa (6-4 260), Fort Lauderdale FL ATH Gareon Conley (6-1 165), Massillon OH ATH Jalin Marshall (5-11 196), Middletown OH TE Marcus Baugh (6-4 229), Riverside CA Ohio State Possibilities LB Trey Johnson (6-1 215), Lawrenceville GA S Vonn Bell (6-0 190), Rossville GA RB Dontre Wilson (5-10 174), DeSoto TX (Oregon commit) This one's today. Johnson will be announcing for OSU. Lots of optimism with Bell to OSU but he's not announcing. People expect Wilson to de-commit from Oregon, especially if Kelly goes NFL as everyone expects. Could get a spot if Quick goes Louisville tomorrow. Burrows has been performing really well all week in practice. He, Bosa, Conley and Marshall are starters. Baugh has also received great reviews this week but the #1 TE in the country is also there so he'll get the start. Baugh will likely move up to #2 or #3 in the country at his position (on Scout at least) based on how he's looked this week.

It's "BEE-ONE-GEE".

Oh and right now the B1G has the best record of any conference in bowls against the spread (meaning the Vegas line, not the offensive style). B1G - 5-2 ACC - 4-2 Big 12 - 3-4 SEC - 2-4 Pac 12 - 2-5 B-1-G! B-1-G! B-1-G! B-1-G!

Maybe you're technically correct but I know this... Urban won't be begging Gee to let a Ray Small-type kid into OSU anytime soon. Not that it was worth it but Tressel had to work to get him in. There are probably 5-10 kids on the OSU roster right now who wouldn't have made it in under Holbrook.
-
If he can't make it in at OSU (and everyone seems to believe he can now) then he can't make it in at WVU. Holbrook isn't at OSU anymore. It's the Gee/Urban show... you meet the requirements to play anywhere in the NCAA and you can play at OSU. Have read some people saying OSU may not be able to fit both Quick and Gibson in this class. Other than that I have no idea. Stuff always goes crazy this time of year. nevada is supremely confident that OSU is getting commitments from Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson this week though and I like that.

I feel sorry for Florida. That evil Urban Meyer broke Florida football. Poor Gators.
-
Saw it scroll across the bottom line on ESPN yesterday. They really just need to let this stuff stay in the past.
-
Could happen sooner than that. I've always had this creeping feeling that he might transfer out after he was basically a big dud this year. Now I've read that he doesn't plan on accepting the move to DE. Not sure how you go about that without simply transferring. And as for Chung, like I said, I personally have no idea how credible he is but he's being ripped apart now. When you post something negative about OSU, regardless of accuracy, you better have your other stuff in order. People are tearing apart every report he makes now with info that goes against everything he's saying...lol. Poor guy just wanted to get some info out and OSU fans do what they do.

Won 2 games they weren't supposed to (weren't favored in any game), kept 3 close then 2 bad ones. Not bad when basically every team was playing up a rung higher than they normally would have. Orange Bowl starting to get ugly.
-
Pretty similar teams with Wiscy and Stanford but I think Stanford's D and QB are better which are pretty important when both teams have great running games.
-
Never really heard of Chung but reading other Buckeyes' reactions to that stuff leads me to believe he doesn't know much. Was tweeting last week that a kid who's been a Michigan lock for about a year (from Cass Tech in Detroit) was an OSU lean...lol. And apparently Quick is going to call coaches tomorrow night to inform them of his decision so we'll see.
-
I think I posted it in here before but looks like it's definitely happening now... Curtis Grant to DE. Mike Mitchell may very well start from day one at MLB. Would have been good for the B1G if Michigan didn't fail there at the end but it doesn't suck watching them lose. Nebraska hung in longer than I expected. Good win for Northwestern. Considering most of these B1G teams are playing 1-2 spots higher than they should be due to OSU and PSU's bowl bans I think they've done pretty well. 2 wins and a couple real close losses to go with a couple blowouts.

The "What are you drinking for New Years" thread

You'll make it. Either ACC or Big 12 eventually.

Don't use quick reply and it won't double post. And yeah, the Latwan Anderson saga was hilarious. TG Sr. was supposedly pissed when he announced for WVU at the all-star game. Kid ended up amounting to nothing as he deserved.
-
Everything was pointing towards Bama for Bell until Urban did his thing at Bell's title game a week or so ago. He's not announcing at his all-star game so there's plenty of time for things to change there. And EVERYTHING is signaling Quick to OSU. Even more stuff since I posted what I did last night. That's usually not a good sign but people who have paid much closer attention to his recruitment than I have say he's not the kind of kid to "play games" or "build up drama." We'll see... Gibson is all OSU and has been for a while... if he makes it academically.

Quoting and re-posting as these are going down this week. Lots of optimism coming out of both game locations right now. 5* WR James Quick has publicly switched his leader to OSU from Louisville. Has always said the home school was a slight leader with OSU right behind but now saying OSU is the leader. Could all be trying to create more drama for his announcement (during the game supposedly) but could also be trying to let Louisville fans down a little more softly going into the announcement. Says he's going to hang out with all the OSU guys in San Antonio this week. 5* LB Mike Mitchell is still expected to announce for OSU at the same game. Not real sure what's going on with 4* WR Shelton Gibson. People still aren't sure he'll make it academically. Could be a Fork Union deal. And something maybe a little more surprising, people now expect 5* S Vonn Bell to end up with OSU. This would be an Urban special. He and his daughter Nicki went to Bell's state title game the day before the dead period started and made sure to basically stand right in front of Bell's team as they came out of the tunnel then spent the rest of the game with Bell's mother. Not sure if he's planning on announcing at the Under Armor game but this one and Quick are the biggest bits of potentially very good news coming out of the all star game sites right now. Haven't read much on 4* LB Trey Johnson's front but sometimes that's a good thing. Supposed to be announcing at the Under Armor game and, like I said, no new news so he should still be an expected OSU announcement.

The bowl gifts used to be even more ridiculous because they weren't regulated. Whatever the bowls wanted to give out, they gave out. Now there's a limit ($400-500 I believe). But say one of the gifts is a PS3 or Xbox 360 and the player already has one. They can't sell it. That would be the equivalent of what the OSU players did by selling their own awards and would be an NCAA violation. And I like how that study done by Nate Silver all of a sudden becomes extremely credible because of his work with predicting this year's election...lol.

Just in case no one gets this and also because I haven't heard it in a while and wanted to again...

To be fair we had basically no winter weather whatsoever last winter so it's been at least 2 years since we've seen this kind of weather. Definitely the worst driving conditions I've seen in a while when I left my office around 1PM. Luckily my commute is about 1 mile.

Was just slushy mess coming down when I left for work this morning in Pickerington. Now there's nothing coming down at all and it's just real windy.

I said it before in this thread or the 2011 one but the 2014 class will be the first one where Urban and his staff will have had the full cycle to recruit and create their relationships. The 2012 class finish was incredible if not miraculous, the 2013 class will very good but the 2014 class will be awesome. Somewhat weak class in Ohio (2 great ones at Glenville though which is nice) so the staff had to do their homework to get in on out of state kids early but they did just that and it sounds like it's going to pay off.
-
Someone said that once he tweeted that he was committed he all of a sudden became good friends with Raekwon McMillan...lol. If OSU can get him to commit early (people have been saying Urban's been telling some kids to wait until after 2013's NSD) and be a bit of a ring leader for the class that would be awesome. It's always nice to have a kid from SEC country leading the recruiting charge.
