  1. Please feel free to add any car events you know of to the thread. What I'm aware of at this point: Friday night Quaker Steak @ Polaris 6-9 p.m. informal meet-up for food Friday night beginning at 9:30 5777 Chantry Dr. (off Brice) East Side meet Saturday morning: Columbus Roll-Out to Dayton Cars & Coffee, meet at 6 a.m. on west side, see details here: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1921710&postcount=28 Columbus Cars and Coffee at Lennox, 9-12 Saturday night Polaris Cabelas off Gemini 9 p.m, unsanctioned meet, be prepared to move to another location if closed down Please be mindful of the increased traffic on the major routes. Many of the drivers are travelers unfamiliar with the routes and may be fatigued. Also, the popo are out in force trying to keep us from killing each other.
  2. I'm planning on going, but will prolly cancel if it rains.
  3. Jeez, if it's that important to everyone, I'll make a couple of pots of coffee and bring it down in a vacuum pot along with some styrofoam cups and give it away. It's not going to be any Starbucks Cinnamon Chai Dolce Creme Light Frappuccino Grande Pour-Over, but it hasn't killed anyone yet, not that anyone can prove anyway. Steve Martin taught me how to make it, back in the day
  4. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/wholeleftside.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/last.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/bars.jpg This is the third Spring I've offered it for sale. I don't need to sell it, but I'd rather see it go to someone who will get some enjoyment from it. This year, I don't plan on putting it on Craig's List (just wastes my time). This is the last of my personal motorcyles. Now that I'm using my Slingshot, I don't go out on this any more. It's had 150 miles in 3 years. This started life as a 1982 Suzuki GS450TZ. I purchased the bike in the fall of 2010 from a CR member who was using it in a daily commute. At that time the mileage on the bike was not known, but the odometer showed 14,495. I gave it to an old friend who was a professional cycle mechanic who rebuilt it over a period of 18 months. Here is a partial list of the parts replaced: Both tires Sprockets, drive chain Front fork seals Front disc brake pads Rear shocks Front wheel bearings Handlebar/grips/bar-end mirrors Headlight/brackets/turn signals He made an intake, installed custom exhaust and header, cleaned and synched the carbs, performed complete tune-up. A new custom seat, rear tail section with taillight, and viper fairing were installed. He made new side covers from diamond plate flooring Wheels were refurbished by Wheel Medic. Kevin Clifford painted the side covers, tail section, and gas tank. The bike starts, runs, and drives without issue. Here is the thread I made when the bike was finished (some "before" pics are in the middle of the thread): http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101890&highlight=cafe Since I've had the bike back, it has lived at the Hangout and has seen little use, as I had other bikes. In five years it's seen 2k miles and has been stored under cover. Essentially it gets started and ridden twice a year to keep everything "fresh," gas stabilizer in the tank, battery on a tender. Two years ago I installed a new battery. Odometer now shows 16k and change, but is non-actual according to the title. I'm asking $1,900. For that you get the bike (clear title in hand), the original parts removed during rebuild (turn signals, handlebars, side covers, full chrome exhaust) and an Aerostich cover (medium size, larger than the bike needs). I have a little less than $5,000 in the bike. Payment needs to be cash, or I will work with your lender. I will hold the bike for up to 30 days for you for a $500 non-refundable deposit. No trades. PM me with any questions. Thanks!
  5. FWIW, I'm also of the opinion that it would be better to stay. Most who mentioned it to me yesterday morning felt that way. For now, bringing our own coffee isn't a major issue. I think the change will come when the weather gets colder; there won't be that group of a dozen or so of us who huddle inside and talk cars. Even for that, there are lots of options that can be explored at some point in the fall if there's still interest.
  6. Maybe we should join the other columbus cars & coffee (.com). They seem like great guys. I'm sure they'd welcome us. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/ff51cf3.jpg
  7. I might be mistaken, but I believe this group is the one Josh helped organize which met in Newark a few times but ended up moving to Johnstown because Newark didn't really have a place big enough for the crowd which would also grant permission. The first big meet (2014): http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117484&highlight=Newark+meet I know of two groups which meet from time to time on West Broad, one group which met at the Andersons on Sawmill (don't think they meet anymore), the QSL Friday night group, the group that meets in Delaware, the meet in Marysville, the North Columbus car meet group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1679192725638919/ which often just identifies other group's meets, and Central Columbus meets https://www.facebook.com/groups/709863799155615/ which does about the same. I'm sure there are a lot more Facebook groups that are brand-specific which announce local late night meets as well, but I'm not a Facebook member so I'm out of that loop. That's everything I know of.
  8. This Saturday the 20th if the weather's good there will be a big Johnstown meet. Polaris is pretty much dead these days. https://www.facebook.com/The740meets/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE
  9. I gave the auction a little kick. It prolly doesn't need it, as the comments are quite positive. GLWS
  10. No problem, thanks for the bump. He's always restoring something. He used to race in the 60's and 70's, so he mostly does American muscle cars from those periods. He took the Chevelle as a partial trade for a 67 Firebird he did a complete restoration on. IIRC it took him two years. I don't have very good photos. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IMG_0107_zps7glkguuk.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Img_0100_zpss1almcxv.jpg Some things he does all original, numbers matching, and others he does mix and match and doesn't worry about originality. He did a 72 GTO that has taken top honors in national competition. He's having fun with a 47 Plymouth right now.
  11. I'm posting this for my sister and her husband who took this vehicle in partial trade on a car they restored. I don't know anything about the car but I can vouch for the sellers. Please note, this is not an "SS." http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/front_zpsteg0nowx.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/rear_zpszcw6eqpl.jpg Craigslist link: https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/6119748511.html If you're interested, mention that you are from CR and that you saw Doc's ad. My brother-in-law, Terry, will give you the straight scoop and may go down further on the price.
  12. I didn't make a thread when I bought it, but it's out at CC&C and meets from time to time. I also took it to the CR fall track day. It's been a great car so far. It's a 2014 Continental GT Speed Convertible. It had 2300 miles on it when I bought it. Aaron first alerted me that it was for sale. The color was on the cover of Bentley magazine in 2014 and he remembered me saying that if I were to buy a new Bentley, that was the color I'd pick. Nope, traded the Flying Spur when I bought the Speed. The Spur was 10 years old and at that age and mileage, they can become expensive to keep. No doubt, that's part of the reason that older Bentleys can be purchased for around 50-70k. That is a lot of car for the money, but if you have bad luck with component failures, it begins to look like not such a bargain after all. The Continental line (VW based) is much less expensive to maintain than the former Turbo R's (BMW and RR based, mineral oil systems), but even the Continentals can be big money if something like an alternator fails. In the W12, the first step in alternator replacement is to remove the engine from the car. I think the job is something like 12 hours of labor. I plan to have it at NTR Friday. If we have a cold morning, I'm hoping for my all-time fastest run. It ran 12.5 there last fall.
  13. Uh, yeah, the Apple Green Bentley is mine. Is this where you claim you weren't referring to me when you said "old man?" Since that's me in the photo you posted, I'm interested in hearing your explanation ...........
  14. I'm happy to buy your spot right now. Just PM me your email and I'll PayPal it to you today. I've got a buddy that wants a spot. -Thanks
  15. And that was the more conservative choice in my final two. Here's the other: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Mustang_zpswiiq7nyk.jpg Yasser, thanks, as always, for the fine photos.
  16. That's sorta hurtful, Buck, but I'll tell you what: come track day, I'll bring one of my tasteless monstrosities and race you and your Fiero. It should be a breeze for you, considering your Fiero .... "has a LOT left in it." Whaddayasay?
  17. For poor weather driving, a BRZ/FRS is not going to compare to that WRX or even the Fords you mentioned. With the right tires the BRZ is okay in the sort of snow we get in Ohio, but it isn't in the league with the other cars you've mentioned. Lots of fun to drive, though.
  18. It wasn't just the bypass that accounted for that massive power gain ..... don't forget the leaf blower turbo: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Pauls%20turbo_zpsfa5vz2nz.jpg Your son isn't the youngest who's been behind the wheel of the Slingshot. I'm glad he enjoyed it. He'll have to compare his experience with DRACO-rex who took it out a little later. Bring him and a booster seat to the Hangout and we'll let him drive the Viewt around the parking lot.
  19. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Mr.%20Robot_zpsbb5xgzdc.jpg I can't believe you just said that.
  20. PonyJr is Derek and he's a great guy. However, I don't think he gets involved at all with unit sales. He manages other parts of the store. When I spoke to him about buying my Slingshot Derek sent me to Jeff Todd and he did a great job for me.
  21. Patio closed at QSL, so we're in the room to the left as you walk in.

  23. Do you have a date in mind? The same spot that may be ideal at one time of the year might not tick many of the boxes at another time.
  24. Great photos. Thanks for posting. I guess it's been a bit since I was through there ....... my pics were all shot with Kodachrome 25.
