  1. I'm not sure how you define "early," but I'll be at my garage in Delaware around 8 a.m. doing some cleaning. If you want to learn some routes north and west from Columbus, ride times 2-4 hours, then phone me and we'll decide when/where to meet. Temps in the 50's this morning, 60 by afternoon, but increasing clouds in the afternoon and a 20% chance for rain. 740-405-5565
  2. I ain't cleanin' mine, and you'll take pictures of it anyway
  3. Not actually a school. That's a treatment center for violent sex offenders.... Get a good price on the house, did you?
  4. You're really too old for this site, but welcome anyway, I guess. + rep
  5. PM me if you have specific questions .... I know a few things about these cars. Cliffs: RENNtech could mean about anything. Some people put a RENNtech badge on a stock SL600 with a RENNtech spoiler on it. Full RENNtech treatment will run over 75k. Best to find out exactly what is RENNtech about this particular car. Mine has RENNtech chrome Giovanna style wheels (10k), full body kit (4k), Stage 1 ECU/TCU upgrade (7.5k). The ECU/TCU upgrade literally changes only 4 values (limits) in the tables, but it gives you another 100 crank hp. I believe that buying RENNtech or Brabus is a rip-off, but buying a used car that's already had the mods can be a good way to go. Price looks about right. I wouldn't get too excited about the car unless it has a CPO warranty, though. Your "bargain" will cost you plenty when the electronics begin to fail. Many parts are not repairable, they require a large unit be replaced. I would advise strongly against buying one with the thought that you are going to do any engine mods/tuning. Fun car, the proverbial iron fist in a silk glove. With the RENNtech chip you'll blow the doors off a new $200,000 SL65, and half the population couldn't tell the 2009 from your 2005.
  6. Congrats! This has been a long time coming
  7. Knowing how CR "consensus" decisions about going out to eat usually turn out, we outta set a place and time, and whoever shows, shows. I'll be at Five Guys on Polaris at 6:30 with the Viewt. All are welcome.
  8. I've been pretty busy all day, but by 6:30 or 7:00 I'd be about ready for a dinner meet-up. QSL/Red Robin/Five Guys anyone?
  9. Probably only going out for a few hours ..... not sure if that's long enough a ride for you. Lots of stuff I gotta get done. Most likely headed to Prospect on some back roads, maybe end up at Sonic for a late lunch around 3. Phone me if you wanna meet up.
  10. You're welcome to use the shop while I'm gone, but it's just too nice a day to not be out on the Ducati ....... I'll be leaving here around 12.
  11. I don't know ..... your new Camaro looked kinda slow ...
  12. Sunday, November 8th Yeah, it's last minute. Sorry. I'm in the shop this morning puttering around with some projects. If you need a spot to do some minor car repair, interior detailing, or the like, feel free to stop on in. No lift, only basic tools here. You can use my cleaning stuff if you need to. Because of the number of cars I have inside today, if you want to wash your car, it will need to be done outside, although you can pull it inside for drying. Also, the brave little Viewt is here, in case you can't stand waiting until it's refurbished. I should be here until early noon, then plan on motorcycling for the rest of the day. The old Open House thread has directions and a map: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums...ad.php?t=67087 Or call me to make sure I'm around: 740-405-5565
  13. What a great November day! It seemed as though everyone had fun, and some of us had lots of fun. I enjoyed seeing old friends and also meeting a few new ones. Just watching the Rose brothers run those terrific cars and seeing the Anthony/Sam duel was worth the price of admission. Eric's "roll start" on the bike was pretty entertaining as well ..... anyone get a video of that? I also don't recall ever seeing cars going down the track with passengers in the trunk before. My understanding was that the event sold out. I hope people consider this when our next track day comes around and that they register in advance. Without enough advance, paid registrations, these events run a risk of being cancelled, and that would be really lame. The big Benz settled right into its normal routine: 11.57 secs @ 124.64 mph and, yes, it is still untuned.
  14. The weather's looking good -- dry and up to 60 degrees. I hope a few other CR folks take advantage of this. We'll have the track to ourselves, and it promises to be a great time. There are still plenty of open spots .... bring cash and register at the track. See you all at Flying J tomorrow morning
  15. Breezy, clear, with a high around 60 Saturday. November drag racing in Ohio doesn't get much better. I know that there are plenty of spots left ..... I hope others take advantage of this opportunity and come out to join us See you all tomorrow morning at Flying J.
  16. Beautiful cars, beautiful garages. A few other comments: I think Gonneville is right; acquiring more things and more space also means starting to hire "help," and doing that creates its own set of problems. Having nice things but having no role in their upkeep detracts from the experience IMHO. At some point, it begins to feel as though your possessions own you instead of the other way around. Be careful what you wish for. A Zen proverb says, "If you're not happy here and now, you never will be." If you find yourself saying: I'll be happy when I finally have _____ -- step back for a minute and re-evaluate what you just said. I think that contentment is when you can say that you own what you like and you like what you own. And you'll find that you can do that on almost any budget.
  17. Can't buy you a new motor, but I got a couple of old Corolla motors at the garage that I'm trying to get rid of. They're abandoned storage items.
  18. Not crazy at all: After a night of debauchery, I awoke face-down in the gravel of the shoulder of a two-lane road in the Canadian Rockies. There were few clues to how I got there, and finding four $1,000 chips marked "Regina Casino--Baccarat" in my pocket and a bullet hole in my hat didn't help my amnesia any. At least there was no tiger in the bathroom .... Standing up and surveying the mountain vista, I realized where I was, and I recalled I had left the Viewt stored in Calgary. Driving it back home just seemed like the right thing to do ...... I had to stop at Windsor because I didn't have the title and plates with me. I took a cab across the Ambassador Bridge (US/Canadian border). US Customs was a bit suspicious of where I had been. The officer asked me, "What's your citizenship?" I thought he had asked, "Was this a business trip?" I responded, "No, it's personal." He didn't feel that was an appropriate response to his question, but we got it all worked out. Now that I'm home, I'll take the plates/registration/title up to Windsor and bring the brave little Viewt the last 3 hours to its new home. So you see, it's not really that crazy .....
  19. You're both welcome anytime, of course. The Viewt is in Windsor, Ontario at the moment, but I will likely have it here in Delaware this coming Friday. Last week I drove the brave little Viewt 3000 miles across Canada, some of that through 3" snow (on summer tires).
  20. I'm in the shop this morning puttering around with some projects. Since it's all heated up, if you need a warm bay to do some minor car repair, interior detailing, or the like, feel free to stop on in. No lift, only basic tools here. You can use my cleaning stuff if you need to. Because of the number of cars I have inside today, if you want to wash your car, it will need to be done outside, although you can pull it inside for drying. I should be here until early afternoon, then plan on shooting at Black Wing with a buddy for an hour or so. Stop by on your bike if you need a place to warm up and take a break. The old Open House thread has directions and a map: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67087 Or call me to make sure I'm around: 740-405-5565
  21. I hope you have a fun, safe ride, Josh. Dress warm!
