Ohio Mile to Spectate, April Fri 26/ Sat 27
Doc1647545523 replied to Doc1647545523's topic in Events
Yep, they're filled. 175 pre-paid cars and bikes. With better weather forecast this year than last, it should be the biggest event they've had at Wilmington. However, because the people are spread-out along a two mile long airstrip, it's not crowded. -
I'll be driving to Wilmington to knock around at the Ohio Mile this Friday and Saturday. Schedule: http://www.ecta-lsr.com/ Bikes and cars are running, and the paid entries hit the max (175). I usually stay 3-4 hours. Flexible on my times, but Saturday I'll probably leave from Cars & Coffee around 10 or 10:30. There's no racing Friday, but it's interesting in the pits and very relaxed. Saturday and Sunday are the actual "event," with food vendors and more of a crowd. $15 gets you in for all 3 days. Let me know if you think you might be interested. Welcome to CR, Silas. I think you've fallen-in with the right group if you're looking to learn about cars, do some modding, and start auto-crossing. I hope you can make it to the wide variety of car events that CR has planned for this season. + rep (but get some pics up)

All lessons come at a price. Fortunately his was a relatively inexpensive one (just money and some pride). It makes me wonder what the liability limit is on CTD's insurance.

Import Face Off -- Save the date -- April 21, 2013

In general, I think it was a pretty good day. I saw over 30 CR members scattered among the spectators, racers, autocrossers, and car show participants. JP should have a great story about stalling at the tree, leaving late, and then running down the car in the other lane. I would pay cash money for anyone who got a photo from later with Antwon, Linn, and I pushing his car through the lot when it stalled and wouldn't restart. Thanks for all of those who used the coupons to save on admission. They honored the $2 off for spectators, but did not honor the discount posted online for $5 off for racers and car show. :fuuuu: I'll later post the kickback check which will be donated to CR. I'm hoping Kevin and Mojoe will post some car show photos. I didn't keep track of the CR trophies, but The Buster won best undercarriage. The Viewt took Best "Other Import," probably a fitting category. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Dscn0802_zpscdc819fc.jpg Mark your calendars now for the next IFO June 23 at Kilkare. -

I'll be around Columbus in the morning, perhaps until noon Saturday. If you're going to QSL tonight, I'll have them with me there as well. Sunday, I'd normally say let's just meet up on the way to NTR, but I usually go earlier than most people since it takes this old man extra time to prep the car and set-up. Text me with your plan and I'll try to catch you. 740-405-5565 -

Celica won previously. Benz won previously. Bentley won previously. Century won previously. I think it's time to give the brave little Viewt its chance. -

My suggestion is to look at the classes and scoring criteria, and prep the car accordingly: http://www.importfaceoff.net/show_rules.htm I've not known the judges to be too picky about cleanliness. It always helps if you're around your car to answer their questions, but they don't like people trying to "sell" their way into a trophy. The judges are part of the staff that travels around to all of these, so they know their stuff moreso than the usual car show judge. -

Will do. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111612 Jeez, Rich, there's both a thread about it and THE CALENDAR is being kept updated, and you still can't figure out when the events are? :dumb: -
Repost, but worth revisiting. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88752&highlight=nurburgring It was hidden under the title: "Crashes on the Nurburgring from the 1970's"

Have you checked the Calendar feature lately? Nick and Mitch are doing a great job of keeping it accurate. If you make a habit of checking it for 15 seconds every week, you shouldn't ever miss a car event in the area again.
-
QFT It was clear that you and your staff put some hard work into this to make it go well. Hanging out with CR friends (I believe about a dozen attended), checking out the cars, and enjoying the spring weather ....... does it get much better? Congrats to Dharris89 (best interior, new school), Antwan (most intimidating engine bay), and Ramsey (most promising project) for winning. CR members took three of the five awards against tough competition. Way to represent!

Columbus Motor Speedway on Williams Road in the southside. It was still rolling when I left at 4. And Packie was drifting his new daily driver!

Detailing 'till midnight? Unless this is the Concours d'Elegance with celebrity judges and thousands of dollars in prize money, I won't be doing any more than just a quick detail spray at the parking lot.

Really good chance to see Aurora Borealis tonight
Doc1647545523 replied to SpaceGhost's topic in Dumpster
Joe, IMHO, no. Usually the aurora is very faint at this latitude, fainter than bright stars. If you go to a place dark enough where you can see the Milky Way, then you have a chance to see the aurora (on special nights such as tonight). There's hardly anywhere in Franklin County where I can see the Milky Way even on the clearest, moonless night. Tonight, the moon is a cresent, but doesn't set until almost midnight. Perhaps your eyes are better than mine, though. -

with all the light contamination around Columbus, good luck with this -
A couple of guys asked if you were there, but we didn't know what you looked like. I guess we'll get the chance to meet at the car show Sunday.
-
Photos for the 2014 CR Calendar were being taken close to Cup o' Joe so they could get the store in the shot. Awww, didn't you get the memo? Maybe hope for 2015, Ryan.

I'll show if I can get one of my clunkers to fire-up.

Bump. Just nine more days. -
Well, let's just say that if there's ever a CR Trivia contest, you should figure on not making it past the first round.

I'm not sure if you're thinking this is on Saturday, but it's Sunday, April 14th.
