Everyone okay?
-
Unfortunately, I don't have an engine hoist. If you find you won't need one, pm me and you can use the garage for free Saturday or Sunday.

You're welcome to use the hangout, but I'm not a very good mechanic's helper. I have a good jack and jackstands.

http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/templates/fast1320_z13.aspx?articleid=7526&zoneid=13 A 73 year old motorcyclist failed to brake, crashed, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Because he rode through the trap and didn't brake, they suspect he had a medical event such as a stroke or m/i. He went through the traps at 170 mph. He went off the end of the runway, and his 2000 Kaw went end-over-end until hitting a fence. He had completed safety qualifying runs earlier and was certified to ride up to 175 mph. He died at 9:15 a.m., and racing was suspended for 4 and a half hours. He died doing what he loved. R.I.P.

Absolutely my favorite truck there, and it didn't compete last month: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/lt1wagner/Ohio%20Mile%20June%202012/IMG_9800.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IMG_9806.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IMG_9923.jpg Just a pity it wasn't running better Saturday. Lots of different vehicles there this time, making it well worth visiting again. July 6-8 will be the next one. And it looks as though they have the staging wait down to perhaps 30-45 minutes. I'm wondering what the brave lil Viewt would run ....... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/confused0006.gif

just saw this, thus I will be a little late, perhaps 8:15 or so

Robert, that's an impressive stable of cars you've got. I think you'd be an asset to any racing forum. Joining here is a bit different than other forums. We're a visual group, and a good intro thread has photos of your cars -- not directions to where the photos can be found, but photos in the thread. Here are directions on how to post photos: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1743 As it says in the directions in the stickies, members have to "rep you in" and if people don't already know you, you need to make a case for joining. The hard work and money you've put into your cars is a big plus. What does Columbus Racing have that interests you? What skills/advice/support do you have to offer? A few words along those lines and some photos of your cars will get you onto the forums pronto. I'm hoping you'll amend your intro and join. It's a great group. Lots of mustangs and even some members in the 7's and 8's. Good luck!

Okay, plans are solidifying for Saturday: 8:00 Cars & Coffee at Lennox Cup o' Joe's 8:30 leave for Wilmington I've got one passenger so far (Wagner) with room for two more, and our plan is to leave Wilmington in the late afternoon to be back in Columbus by supper. If you plan to stay later (for example, for the evening cruise-in) you should plan on driving. I will bring a large cooler with drinks from the hangout. Food vendors at the event have pizza, fair food, burgers, hot dogs and such. Bring a lawn chair, light jacket/hoodie (60's most of the day, some rain possible), camera.

Buck, I agree that City BBQ's meat dishes are pricey, I was just suggesting that their sides, for $22 a pan, seemed reasonable to me. Not the cheapest available, but reasonable. They claim the pan serves 25 people, but my experience was that it actually serves more than that. Guests were very happy with the food, and the big pans were easier to manage than the little buckets from the discount places. I don't envy you, having to feed 35 people, especially if they're hungry.
-
City Barbeque catering has great side dishes, too, but it's more expensive than picking sides up from Costco or Meijer. If you pick it up from City BBQ, it's slightly cheaper. I used pans of the side dishes at my last open house. They're $22 each. http://www.citybbq.com/our-food/pig-up-n-go/

I'm flexible on the time, but just to throw an idea out, how's this: 8 a.m. meet at Cars & Coffee 8:30-9ish leave for Wilmington That will put us at the gate after the initial spectator rush to watch the start of the racing. If anyone wants to carpool there, I'll be driving the outlaw car You can leave your car at Lennox and get dropped back there at the end of the day. If you're driving your own car, figure about 60 miles each way. I do not recommend GPS routing to get there (Ask Alex L if you don't believe me). PM me for directions if you're driving at another time on your own. There's also a Cruise-In in Wilmington at 6 p.m., I'm not sure I want to stay for all that, but if people riding with me really wanted to go to that, I'd be willing to check it out for an hour or two.

The forecast for Friday is now rain, so I'm looking at Saturday and/or Sunday. Anyone else interested?

Sunday 5/27 Middle of the Holiday Weekend Lull

Is it okay if I bring Team Output? They're starving. And they can't hit the rev limiters in their own neighborhoods without neighbors calling the cops. -
Been in the A/C almost all day. Tonight's temps won't dip below 70, 10 p.m. temp still above 80. Will Home Depot even have lights on (they close early)? We need a CR patio like QSL's, set up for cooking out, overlooking the Polaris/I-71 interchange. Anything popping tonight? http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/fast-and-furious-2001-06-g.jpg

Cars & Coffee 5/26/12 Memorial Day Weekend edition

I plan to roll in around 9 with the cafe conversion. -
Interesting, they are tar sealing parts of the lot. This might be entertaining later.
-
See you at 8 at Noodles. New coilovers to break in.
-
Yeah, I imagine this would be a great weekend for that--popo prolly all taking some days off to enjoy the holiday with their families.
-
16 minutes from lust to loathing ..... you outdid yourself on this one, Clay. I wasn't worried anyway. The wifey would have quashed this.
-
Actually, yes, BlackWing allows 12g at their indoor range, but with the big boy shells like Jason said. I last shot there in a coached self-defense session. You'd have to phone them to see what they are routinely set up for with indoor/shotgun.
-
Good point, Jason. When I'm at a new range, I play it safe and buy my ammo there. I was guessing that Brian only wanted to shoot some trap and would buy birdshot at BlackWing.
-
Which raises the question: How many Farkaseses are too many?

http://www.columbuscarsandcoffee.net 8am to 12pm - Cup O'Joe, Lennox Town Center - Tell your friends! Posted for Clay, who is totally confused and lost in his life since he severed his lifeline to the outside world by deactivating his Facebook profile. (On NPR this morning there was speculation that word of his pending deactivation is what caused the Facebook stock price to plummet.) You're in our thoughts, big guy. Rest assured that C&C, your brainchild, will live on. Warm morning, little chance for rain, and long weekend should combine to make this a megashowing. Bring someone new this week
