  1. Great intro, Mike. Welcome to Columbus racing. I envy your ability to fabricate most of what you need for your builds. Very impressive. I hope you make it to some of our track days and meets. + rep
  2. I used to spend a lot of time in the Charleston, SC area, and many of the people there are pretty sick of Buckeye fans. It seemed strange to me because Charleston is such a welcoming and gracious city. Talking with locals about it, it seemed that they really don't understand the boisterous sports enthusiasm. Bumper stickers: GO BUCKEYES! No, really, GO GBTO Go back to Ohio Leave your daughters and go back to Ohio This is from 2010: http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/charleston/ohioans-have-invaded-the-lowcountry-and-some-folks-wish-they-would-leave/Content?oid=1946300 I suspect there's more Buckeye Fever in Japan than in parts of the U.S.

  4. Tina, I assume the rule is still that the photo must be of a car currently owned by the member, correct? http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/5a_bw-1.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/14ac.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/13ac.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/11a.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/9a_bwc.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/7a_sc.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/9a.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/8a.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/24a.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/L3_6_HR.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/L2_10_LR.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/L1_3_LR.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/L1_1_LR.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/10a_s.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/10a.jpg
  5. This nearly snuck past me. Thanks, Crossle, for reminding me. Looks like a beautiful day.
  6. I just saw this car at the Delaware Auto Show. Very sharp in person. I'm looking to decrease my number of cars or else I'd be on top of this. A very beautiful car that you could drive regularly, tastefully modded. I believe the cash CR price has dropped further, but I'll let Brandon speak to that.
  7. Here's some additional info: Rain or Shine Registration 10-2 Awards 6 p.m. Entry $15 per vehicle 75 awards First 500 cars get dash plaques Music, vendors, drawings, raffles ($1,000.00 Jeg's gift certificate, 500.00 grocery card) Questions: Jim Harter 740-272-2944 or Jim Clements 740-815-8328 The majority of the show cars are vintage. I'll probably walk through the show, but I've never had a vintage car to display.
  8. It sounds like a rip-off based on the info you have. I don't know Mr. Amato, but a friend of mine takes his cars to him and has had positive experiences. I hate to hear when an unsuspecting customer gets taken to the cleaners, but it seems as though I've heard that story more and more in the last couple of years.
  9. The following is my understanding. If those who know a great deal more about engines want to chime in, I'll defer to their superior knowledge and experience. There are trade-offs in choosing a particular engine size, number of cylinders, cylinder configuration, and the like. From my understanding, and in the most general of terms, the more cylinders you have for a given displacement, the smaller the cylinders can be and the less the reciprocating mass of the (smaller) pistons. So for two engines, each 6.0L, a 12 cylinder would be expected to run smoother and be capable of running higher RPM's than a 6.0L 6 cylinder engine would. This is just a broad and general observation, as many other factors come into play. And keep in mind there are practical engineering limits that make general rules invalid at the extremes.
  10. The brave little Viewt heads back to the Rockies http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/party0024.gif http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/8a-1.jpg In 3 weeks Farkas and I are heading west to the 2012 Rocky Mountain Rally in the Viewt. We will be one of 40 teams to start at Pikes Peak International Raceway on August 20th in Fountain, Colorado. Over the next 3 days we'll have 15 checkpoints to find in the mountains and deserts of Colorado, Utah, and Nevada before hitting the finish line in Downtown Las Vegas. Although we pay our own registration and travel/living expenses, we invite friends to join our team by contributing to our charity, The Accelerated Cure Project. Mahle and I raised over $1,300 for the charity during Rally Dixie, and we appreciate the generosity of the members and sponsors of CR who contributed. More about the Rally and the charity can be found here: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/dox/rally-north-america-2012-rocky-mountain-rally I'll update this thread with pics as the Viewt is stickered and modded for the rally and I hope to have some great photos of the Rockies to post here upon our return.
  11. If all the fabric in the car has been thoroughly shampooed, an ion generator will remove any remaining smoke smell. It takes about 15 mins to prep the car, one hour of ion generation, an hour to air out the car, and the smell should be gone forever. If you leave any fabric unwashed, some of the smoke smell will return in a week or so. I'll do it for you for free at the hangout, or you can check around town for a price. What Andy said about the headliner is spot-on. Most are hard to deep clean, but if you don't, the smell will at least partially return in time.
  12. The Jack FM (98.9) DJ's have never turned down any charity.
  13. Sounds good to me. The forecast is for clearing skies tonight.
  14. When you're as cool as Sam, there's no need for A/C. He's so cool, when he went swimming at Alum Creek, the lake temp dropped 10 degrees. That's cool.
  15. Even trained professionals and bloodthirsty villains can look like the Keystone Cops in videos showing how things actually played out. Remember the Kehoe Brothers vs. the Deputy Sheriff and OSHP? Each side had about 7 minutes of discussion in this traffic stop to think through the "what ifs." Then, this ...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi5kj-krgso Allegedly 22 rounds fired at close range by two lawmen and by a weapons enthusiast criminal. Nobody hit.
  16. Fantastic idea. Perhaps you can start a grassroots campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment so that taxpayers can save some money. In fact, a lot of those things in the Bill of Rights are getting expensive, maybe we could dump 'em all. :dumb:
  17. Some great cars there today. Good seeing a lot of CR folks I hadn't seen in a long time (about a dozen of you ..... you know who you are). It got so frickin' hot after that rain I had to take it in a few hours early. Most impressive entrance (perhaps of all time): Ansonivan You'll need to ask him about it, although I understand there are some photos of the event. Perhaps someone can post to this thread?
  18. Fantastic, and hard to imagine what that would be like. Makes me want to watch The World's Fastest Indian again tonight (for about the fifteenth time).
  19. I think these two are outstanding, but I'm biased. I highly recommend them. Both are available as ebooks. A number of CR members have read the first one and said it's good. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1484285&postcount=4 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103431
  20. Impressive, but I believe Wiggs's car has already dusted it. They didn't mention that in the videos, did they?
