Congrats!

Was it brown/beige? If so, probably in town for the Italian Gathering. One in that color won a top prize there last year, although IIRC, it was from Illinois.

I'm not sure of the decor around your pad, but there's a base which fits them and converts them into great gaming chairs/occasional chairs. They're nearly the same seats we have at the hangout. (just offering an option in case you don't sell them) GLWS

That was low, even for you.

That's very generous of you, Brian. I could use a few fifths. I don't want to take advantage of your charity by asking for more. Just drop them by the hangout. Thanks again, bud. You're the best.

And ........ Parts is parts Most of you are too young to remember this commercial, but it must have been pretty effective because I've never forgotten it. :barf:

Cordon off a double parking space, mark it "reserved," and I'll bring two VR6's, a cooler of soft drinks, and a dazzingly bright flashlight to the mix.

Since the new Rolls got dusty at Sawmill tonight, I might as well bring it to Cars & Coffee, too.

Wnybody know if Jordon Whalen is still alive and mobile?

Welcome back, and thanks.

I'll see if I can find something to drive that will get me there and back without breaking.

Funniest post I've seen here in months.

We can lock this up, mods. The local driver's on his way here.

Never having loaded a car on a trailer, I'm a little reluctant to try the first time with a rare car with an unusual dimension. However, I took your question to heart and looked into the local options. Of the U-haul facilities in the area, only one is open Sunday and they don't have the needed truck nor the transport trailer. My major reservations were how to push the car by myself up the ramp (I have 3 herniated discs) since they don't have winches, and how to properly secure the car for the trip. I don't want to dolly the car, either. I'll just bite the bullet and pay the man. I appreciate the offers of help and the advice. With some luck I'll be home in the wee hours of Monday.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I don't have help on this end to do it myself or I probably would rent something. One of the other options will come through in the next couple of hours.

If you can trailer my Viewt from Hays, Kansas to Columbus (924 miles). The brave little Viewt ran perfectly until I hit some rumble strips in west Kansas, which suddenly caused a bunch of engine symptoms. I was fortunate to find a good mechanic open Saturday late, but there was no luck finding this problem. I decided to continue on to the rally start anyway. Just across the Colorado state line, the Viewt ran its last. Opinion now is that it's likely a failed throttle body (with sensors), nothing that is going to get fixed around here. AAA towed me 200 miles east to Hays, where I'm now all comfy in a Hampton. But I need to get this car home. A local guy wants $2,000 to do it. I'd rather pay someone on CR if they can free up and beat that price. Text me with any ideas and we'll talk. 740-405-5565

Although it may be slightly less off-road capable than a Unimog and a teensy bit less bomb-resistant than a Marauder, Bentley's off-roader dominates the picnic-accommodation category: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/bentley-suv-dining-area.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/exp1_2.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-SUV-interior.jpg

Looks slow. Pretty, but slow. :gabe:

Perhaps you should consider gifting it to someone on CR who owns a Bentley. Just a thought.

1972 Triumph Tiger 650. Single-carb version of the 650 Bonneville. "You'll be tops when you take to the road on a Tiger" was the sales hookline.

You're off to a good start. Drive safe! Consider a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course, even if you're experienced off-road. That air-cooled front expanding brake brings back memories for me. My first 3 bikes were drums front and rear.

Here's a thought: If we each contributed the "words we live by" in an anonymous way, would those who know us be able to match each phrase accurately to the one who submitted it? http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/confused0006.gif For my contribution to the thread, here's one of my favorite watches--when you look for the time, you see a reflection of your own face and also glimpse the real time: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/AccurateMirror1.jpg I guess that those are some of the "words I live by."

Thanks! Mine's a 1994 Nissan Micra/March underneath. Classic Jag styling with modern Nissan drive train (reliable, low maint) That's an interesting concept: there's someone who thinks he might need a Viewt :lolguy: And for all of you who don't think it resembles a Jag, here's a 1962 MK 2 Jag: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Jaguar-Mk-II-3-8-1962-05I7M085716531A.jpg and here's the Viewt: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Viewt%20stickered%20for%20Rally/frontatgate.jpg And before you say anything, Clay---No, I'm not claiming it's an exact copy in all dimensions, only saying that it was made to resemble a classic Jag. Aaron tipped me off to an article from just a couple weeks ago in MotorTrend about the new generation of Viewts. Enjoy! http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1207_mitsuoka_viewt_first_look/#13442779262911&188,shopper

As threatened, I've got photos of the brave little car prepped for the Rally. Welcome, Mark. Very clean car and a well-written intro. I hope you get to some of our meets and track days in the coming months. In less than a week, there's one in your neighborhood. (After you're a member, check the thread about the QSL Cruise-In on 8/11 in the "Meetings and Events" Section.) +rep
