  1. I think our training scull was an Alden. I was a sweep rower, but decided to give it a whirl one afternoon. For shit and giggles I tried to flip it and could not. At the time I was probably 220lbs. So, if I can't flip it neither can she. I will say it's probably a decent workout for her since rowing on a machine is only as strenuous as you make it. It's also zero impact. It does require a little bit of flexibility to it, so that might be a negative for her.
  2. We have a friend who need to eat gluten free. Apparently the gluten free crust at ZPizza in the short north is amazing. http://zpizza.com/
  3. It's possible the article is trying to make an issue that doesn't exist in this scenario. The team is helping her cover her expenses. There is an anonymous donor covering more of her expenses. They are not telling her she cannot row. Physics dictates she cannot fit in a racing shell. So, until she drops the weight (or at least most of it) she will be not be racing with a team. They also said that won't let her race till she can complete a 1500 meter practice session. Right now she is physically incapable of doing the distance at any speed. I believe that when she reaches state that she can complete the race they will let her race solo in a single scull event. The fact that she is black, or poor only seems to matter to the author of the story.
  4. I've got to hand it to her. The drive is something I don't see in a lot of high school kids. At least the coaches have the sense to keep her out of competition for the time being. The asthma and the weight are issues, but a training scull is hard to flip (we called them bathtubs for a reason). She's not going to fit on a racing shell of any kind, be it a single or an eight. That's just physics. But she can get a decent workout in a training scull, and on an erg. If she keeps at it she'll drop the weight. The muscle mass alone will help burn some of the fat. I'm also glad to see the team is going out of their way to help her along.
  5. There was any question that the cop did the right thing? Shoot at a cop, go to the morgue. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I believe that use of lethal force against law enforcement should get the death penalty. This guy just got his a little quicker than usual.
  6. Just checked weather.com ... looks a little chilly but clear. I've been busy the past few weekends, will try to make it out.
  7. Good catch, I did not notice the distributor behind the intake. Looking at it again I noticed the alternator is on the wrong side (would be on the passenger side for an LT1). Then again, maybe now I'm the one talking out of my ass.
  8. I'm not even sure where to start. But I'll toss in the fact that a '91 F-body does not have an LT1 motor. The guy doesn't even know what year his car is. Will an LT1 with 4.55 gears go 140? No, but without recalibrating the PCM for the gears I'll bet it reads 140.
  9. I had Brian's guy do all three of my cars. I just went with his recommendation, not even sure what mine are. The front windows are not as dark as the back. I get lots of compliments and seems dark enough. +1 on don't tint the windscreen, dumb idea.
  10. Apple IIe, green/black monitor, 80 column card with an extra 56K of RAM bumping it to 128. Two 5.25 floppy drives. My mom taught business english (typing, short hand, etc...) and needed to learn to use a PC before she had to start teaching them. I took it over in short order and was the only family member to touch it for years. My first PC I bought was in college. 486DX 33MHz, 1 Meg VESA video card, 8 whole megs of RAM, 100 MB hard disk, 2400KB modem. Even had the TURBO button. It was SMOKING for the time. A friend asked me "Oh my god man, what are you going to do with all that space?"
  11. +1 He did my heads and intake. Work was beautiful. Hell of a nice guy too.
  12. He is not running an LT1. On your dyno graph, where does the Horsepower line cross the torque line? That is the RPM I have heard you should shift. That is obviously going to happen after your power peaks anyhow, so you may not be far off. What have your times been since the swap?
  13. My first computer was an Apple IIe, but no modem. The folks wouldn't go for it. Probably a good idea since I would have been dumb enough to rack up long distance or done some freaking from home. If nothing else I would have hogged the phone line 24/7. My first modem was a 2400 baud in the 486 I bought in college. We ran into problems when a friend gave me Windows software for the modem. I had not had a problem till then, but turned out the mouse and the modem used the same IRQ. I didn't do much on the BBS' due to having internet access (pre WWW) through OSU. But I still hogged the phone line, so we had to install a second one at the house. Played several MUDs during that time frame.
  14. That video is NUTS! If nothing else, the guilty parties in the accidents are obvious.
  15. Looks awesome man, now go have fun and don't screw it or yourself up.
  16. When I get around to installing the nitrous kit you'll be the first call I make for tuning. The only reason I would not call you now is you already tuned my car.
  17. Hookers and blow? Oh, wait, you said inexpensive. How about a theme party at the house or a park? Have all the kids come in animal costumes or clown costumes, play hide and seek, same crap we used to do when we were kids.
  18. I'm surprised no one has commented on the theme of the commercial. As much as I like the way she looks, I like the attitude more. Confidence is sexy. Her heading out wearing bra, panties and a jacket is sexy in it's own right.
  19. +1 for Dyno Brian. I've had 3 cars done. Quality is great, price is fair. Screen name Mobile Chassis Dyno. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/member.php?u=109
  20. Not mine, but a lot of people have commented to me they would like an Impala SS. I found this on a board and looks like a good deal, but would need to be brought back from California. http://www.impalaforums.com/private-for-sale-classifieds/242234-95-impala-ss-for-sale-44-000-miles-100-stock.html
  21. Just don't be in a hurry. Deals will come along. I spent 6 months looking for my Impala SS. She's not perfect, but the price was right and she's getting better.
  22. I'm trying to remember what the rule on that was. Partially it depends on the place. If it's not a place that is illegal to carry then you will probably be asked to leave, possibly by the police. I assume the store employees would not approach an an individual they know to be armed and ask if they have CCW, probably just call the cops. Either way I hardly ever carry. I got it mainly to make sure I didn't get into any trouble transporting to and from the range. Also because my H&K USP 9mm is a little too large for me to CC.
  23. 200 shot of Nawsss. That'll fix it right up. She'll rev like crazy.... for about a second.
