Have either of you ever been able to afford one of those scopes or are you just looking like ass baskets because you don't know what you are talking about?
Seriously. I've never had the chance to look through a scope of that price range, but come on. $1500 for an optic is crazy for most shooters. Maybe if the .gov was paying for it, but that's damn month of work for me!

Oh yeah...gasoline wont last forever.
Oh, I didn't realize this new car ran on hopes and dreams. Is there an option for a nuclear reactor?
I said CAR AND motorcycle, meaning I can use whichever I choose. If those fail, there's always the horse and carriage. Suck on that Al Gore!

Nice pic. Anyone else think of red tiger when they saw that?
-
Honda started in the late 1940s making bike engines.
Thanks, it was a rhetorical question:rolleyes: I'd drive one of those when every decent car and motorcycle was inoperable, so probably never. Still a slightly interesting concept though, once you get past the wannabe headline grabbing styling.

This is slightly interesting. Almost as interesting as it would be if VW announced they were coming out with another beetle, 71 YEARS after they came out with the original. So, what was Honda doing in 1938? Anyone?
-
I'll put it into a nice b5 A4, how's that? Or maybe an A8, that would be very nice. Either way, it's all out of my price range, but that's what happens when you buy a house on $22k/year.
-
yeah, when I was in there they really didn't seem like car people. More like trained retail employees, which I don't like to see in the automotive world. Maybe their whole staff should join CR, might improve the operation... or total more C5s
Not really though.

Awesome. If I could get one into an Audi without having totally wrong gearing and a nose-heavy pusher I'd be set. Not sure that will ever happen
-
Yeah, I see a decent deal every now and then there, but some of their stuff seem SO overpriced. I'd always rather buy a car from an individual anyway.

A nice small block tuned to around 75hp/liter (in your speak) would work just fine for me on the street. Even better, a nice mild 300hp small block with a couple psi when I want it. Perfect!
I got your Audi 100 motor right here! Oh, and how come your fancy new BIGGER Audi S4 motor with an extra turbo can only manage the same factory rated torque (but at 100 lower rpm) as my old, crappy, tiny, turbo-lagging S4 motor? Oh well, at least my turbo still works after 180k+ miles. How are your original turbos again? :)
-
They deserve a win every now and then I suppose. I really like the diesel tech being pushed in Le Mans, but don't like the amount of restriction already. If Formula is going to be formula, then I want a can-am style free for all with raging uncontrollable monsters that scare regular drivers and push the limits of controllability.
-
Too expensive, already got an S4 motor . Plus, I like the maintenance schedule of a sbc about 50 million times better.
-
You drive like an old fart, i bet turbos hate you for trying to keep the engine rpm's too low, which result in turbo rpm's going up. 6500rpm? What the fuck is that weak ass shit? 7000 is where its at.
Yeah, I can get the old girl up over 7000 every now and then, but 90% of my driving occurs below 2000 until I run out of gear, then I have no choice. I need a small 2nd turbo on my shit to get me spooled from idle- 2000, then the K24 can take care of the rest. Not worth the effort though, I'd rather just have a nice big V8 and tall gearing. The seat of the pants knows what it wants, and low-compression, off-boost, <200lb-ft motors aren't going to cut it. I did look at a couple dyno charts of 2JZs, and they're around 160 lb-ft off boost around 2000ish. That's weak as hell for a sports car. Your S4 makes over 250 from nearly off-idle, that's why it feels so good around town. I move that power 1500rpm up, and you'll hate it.

Yes he is a tech at Carmax, the car was a car that was going to be on the front lot, Carmax owned it. His story was he hit a patch of ice at the bottom of the ramp.
Are you familiar of how Carmax works?
That's hilarious! Thanks for making my day, it is as I suspected then. I'm not too familiar with how they work, other than offering people half kbb value for a car so they can detail it and sell it for double. Shame on them. I've been there a few times. I always think, "Man, I bet they take some serious advantage of ignorance here" which is exactly what the commercials say they DON'T do.
-
yes
Bullcrap. How much torque does a 2jz make off-boost compared to an LS1? Hmm, maybe 175 or 200lb-ft? How much does it make between 800-1500 rpm? That's where I drive, so that's where I want my torque damnit! And you know what, if I want to wind it out to 6500, I should be able to do that with the same motor!
-
x3 ull make more power with a 2jz with a big single mmmm sexy
But will it get 28 mpg on the highway, make 300ft-lbs off idle, loaf at 1200rpms, have cheap parts, and run 200k miles before maybe needing to be opened up?
-
Oh, I just remembered my personal favorite! The techs at hatfield taking the 2.slow jettas out to the loop to practice clutchless shifting! Crap, I almost forgot about that! That was EXTREMELY irritating because my wife had recently bought a used jetta from them, which turned out to be a major nightmare.
You guys would never do that at carmax though would you? I mean, this wasn't actually a carmax employee out hot-rodding a vette that totalled it, was it?
-
The one I saw last night, no. I have no proof, other than a younger guy hot-rodding around in an older TDi with a dealer plate falling out of the window (he leaving the parts area as I was pulling in). I wouldn't be so quick to cry foul if I hadn't witnessed this 1000 times before. I've had 'friends' work at most of the major VW/Audi dealers in town (MAG, hatfield, byers) and they're all about the same. Come lunch time, someone is reaching for the keys to the S4 they were working on, or the 911 that needs washed. I would NEVER take my car to a dealer, for that reason.
-
Hmm, bumper stickers? Are they automotive in nature?
-
Yeah how does that work?
OP, perhaps you should have kept the diesel mercedes. I'm sure that would have taught you a few things about cars.
yeah, wtf? Last I check the old diesel mercs were worth a decent bit of money.
LOL about the vette, I hope someone gets in trouble for that. I cannot stress enough how I HATE people from dealers hot-rodding around in cars that aren't theirs. I saw that shit at MAG last night, the braindead monkeys have no respect for other people's things.
-
I've seen it before. That's what happens when you buy a vehicle from a retarded hillbilly that thinks he knows how cars work. Good thing you got that sorted out, the bolt in the coil is a good one. I'll go ahead an add to it: I've seen a doorbell and wiring used in an 81' z/28. Not kidding. I've got more too, as I'm sure we all do.
-
Uh oh, pics and story please. That sounds like an incredible act of stupidity, must hear more.
-
I'd like to get in on some long-range shooting. I just might embarrass myself with my cheap russian ammo, but I'll take a crack at it. How much does it cost to do big darby? I'm so spoiled by free shooting, but only out to 100-200 yards.
-
Depends on how much money you have. Yes, the loopys are good, but pretty expensive. I had one on a bushy, and didn't think it was any better than a good simmons. The 44mag series used to be pretty solid, getting hard to find though. You could always go with a super sniper, they're pretty popular too.
