  1. I think at that point it would be kind of stupid NOT to pull it apart and rebuild it. Unless it's a cheap beater, then run some seafoam or something through it and be done.

That's pretty good. My neighbor ran her brand new (95'?) toyota camry to almost 30k miles on the original oil until her motor locked up. She was a doctor too.

  2. I've read and heard from salesmen (yeah, no shit) the acids that build up in the oil can hurt the bearings. I'm not dumb and I know it's not going to eat through my top bearing layer, but I'm gonna change it anyway so I figure why not now.

I do like the MX4t, but don't like the $9.50/quart so much! I was hoping to find some sales, like I know ronayers does free shipping over $40 or something every now and again. Shit I wonder if I can find a drum of repsol 10w40?

  3. Shame on them. You should call and complain, and tell them if they don't want to have completely wasted their time they need to give you a quote at the very least. I can remember interviewing there years ago, and talked with many many people. They seemed kinda sketchy, and I'm glad it didn't work out. It was interesting to hear this from you.
  4. I believe the climate is going to change hotter or colder naturally, without humans being a major factor.

Earthquakes and volcanic activity release more carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases than cars and factories do. Hell, cow farts do more damage than every piece of industrial machinery operating in America today.

If humans are to blame, get China and India to front most of the cap-and-trade cost on pollution...have you SEEN the crap they are putting into the air and water???

I have, but not first hand. I'm with you. Until the biggest offenders put up we shouldn't do jack squat. We're already so far ahead of the game the rest of the world should be giving us money! Pretty sure we already have more strict pollution laws than some of Europe.

  5. Sad day in America. The company that arguably kicked off the muscle car craze with the GTO is dead. Who know if/when it will ever come back? I assume the dealers and such will keep parts available for awhile.

They should bring Pontiac back in a few years as exclusive euro/Aus imports or something. That would be awesome.

  6. Another time 4wd is great: getting through intersections. I can't even remember how many times awd saved my ass turning through an intersection when a jackass pulled out of a drive, ran a light, etc and I had to scoot NOW. That enough is worth it to me.
  7. Well, this is Ohio and it snows. You can try as hard as you want, but I bet if I could magically convert your guys' FWD or RWD cars to AWD overnight you'd be happier with how it drove. No more sitting and spinning, no more fishtailing trying to climb driveways, etc. Of course it isn't going to cure stupid, but it will increase your driveability substantially, with small penalties in complexity, mpg, and weight.
  8. After owning front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, 4wd and awd, I can honestly say that awd is the best layout for nearly all types of driving. RWD sucks as you can't put 400 hp down in the wet, and forget going fast in the snow! FWD is like joe swanson from family guy, minus the wheelchair. 4wd doesn't like turning on pavement, so awd pwns.
  9. nice grill. Yeah, it's quattro season now for sure! It was great being the only person on the road on the way to work out here. Except for the space shuttle, which I totally pwned.
