  1. Well, compared to both the GS and the SHO, we're talking about normal cars for normal people here. Pretty sure he just wants to get to work and back.
  2. I love that story, in a gruesome way. 80 people died and they finished the fucking race.
  3. It's a pic. You can tell because it's not moving. Jeesh.
  4. http://trackthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/57-Grand-Prix-2.jpg I know the death toll was ridiculous back then, but damn they look gangsta.
  5. Or a driver who doesn't care about going fast. Thanks for the insight guys, going to put it at the top of the list of recommendations. We'll see if he springs for it.
  6. I have a friend looking for a car and there's just something about him that screams Buick to me. I've heard good things about the new Regals so I started looking, specifically at the CXL trim with the turbo (auto trans). On paper it seems like a better version of the TSX. Anyone have anything bad to say about them before I sully my reputation on this thing?
  7. I take it you find them to be *vastly* different levels of severity, as do I, but "she can put a shirt on" doesn't change anything about my stance. He still disfigured her in order to shame her. Anyone who doesn't see the connection to brutal tribal practices and the misogyny they exemplify needs to think about it some more. You can just say, "Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant. You're right that tattooing shit on someone is 100% wrong, and everyone in this thread who is clapping for this guy is a grade A douchenozzle." Or you can say "lost cause" a third time and go away.
  8. They're both unwarranted disfigurement in retaliation for butthurt, intended to permanently shame the victim. In other words, they serve the same function. In other words, they're not the same, but they're functionally not much different, which is what I said the first time around. I use words for reasons, maybe you should read them.
  9. What blind trust? You replaced the engines for free, right? I imagine there was a loaner car involved as well? If I took my Kia in to get an oil change and the stupid techs frag the engine, I really don't care. It's a transportation appliance. Give me a loaner, replace the engine, and I pretty much stop caring at that point. Most places probably do many thousands of proper oil changes for every 1 that goes awry, so the odds aren't worth worrying about it.
  10. She hurt his feelings, so he permanently disfigured her? And y'all think that's cool? WTF is wrong with you people? The guy's an emo pussy asshole. I'll grant that his method of disfigurement was creative, but functionally this isn't much different from cutting off noses like they do in Afghanistan. I'm calling fake on the whole thing, but if it's not, I don't understand even pretending to think this guy is anything but an extreme cockface.
  11. I didn't realize swapping boosters was a thing with 240s. In the Honda world, people swap MCs all the time when changing calipers, but the boosters are all the same, or at least nobody cares about the differences.
  12. Also, the bigger brake master cylinder (guessing that's what you mean) only really affects pedal feel, not stopping power. That entire list of parts sounds like a waste of money, minus the "whatever pads I choose" part.
  13. Big brakes are almost universally prescribed for better heat management in road racing, and will have no impact on your ability to stop quickly. Get better pads and tires if you're having problems stopping. Nitrous has no place in road racing. That leaves only 1 reasonable option.
  14. +1. That's the one nice thing about shift cables, you have a lot of leeway when mounting them, and the civic "tunnel" is relatively flat on top. I also think 4G63 into an EF is a great idea that doesn't get enough respect.
  15. In that case, for inspiration I'd look at whatever people do for H22 or K-series swaps into 88-00 civics/tegs. Generally they take the shifter mounting plate out of a prelude or accord and just kinda bolt it down somehow. I've never seen one that didn't look at least a little janky. Example: http://webpages.charter.net/esmyers/images/shift3.jpg
  16. I don't believe the cylinder will bolt to the firewall anywhere. The pedals won't bolt in either. SOP for older civics is to convert a hydraulic transmission to use the cable with a kit like this: http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EM&Product_Code=HASPORT-EGBCC Ignore the trans mount since you'll be making your own. It's basically just a couple of pieces that bolt onto the clutch fork lever to create a mounting point for the cable. You may be able to make something similar for your app. Does the 4G63 trans use shift cables?
  17. Looks like typical street racing to me...
  18. Think of your favorite thing. The think of the government you fear the most taking that thing away. Then thanks those hippies for protesting, and thank (most) cops for letting them do it.
  19. Normal small car - 17 grand Diesel small car - 22 grand Hybrid small car - 22 grand Diesel hybrid small car - 1 million dollars Or something like that.
  20. That's not bad. My basic math and the 2 minutes I was willing to spend at vw.com suggests that it will take approx 7 years at current fuel prices to break even over the 2.5L.
  21. I've never heard experts say that hybrids are the cheapest and best. Maybe pundits or marketing morons, but... well, I guess for a loose enough definition of expert, any expert can say anything. Diesels are a dead end in this country, though. At the moment they cost too much and the fuel is too expensive to justify one for any reason other than bragging rights, and in a decade they'll all be legislated out of existence. Hybrids are a dead end too, but I think they'll last a bit longer.
