  1. Ya i think you're right about the weight reduction. That seems to be the general consensus. I'm ordering my SCT Tune today, hopefully i'll get it within a day or two. Won't know for awhile if it made a difference though, because i only drive on the weekends, and not very much. But i'm hoping it can get me to 20mpg. It claims it can bump you up 5 mpg, so, if thats anywhere close to true, my 17mpg should make it up to 20.
  2. has 14 thumbs up next to it lol. I, am one of them.
  3. thanks for the advice. Someone suggested it. so i figured, why the hell not lol. i don't know how much they cost, but i figure not much? so i guess i thought why not. but maybe you've saved me some time, as for the plugs, i've read alot in both regards, that they don't need changed hardly ever (i got new ones 10,000 miles ago), or that they matter tremendously and high quality ones can save you money on gas. as for weight reduction, i'm still torn, but i feel like i'd rather be able to drive more than one other person in my car than remove 50lbs (the backseat), you know? thanks for the helpful words, i appreciate it. even higher than what theyre supposed to be at? or are you saying just make sure theyre at the proper level? see above comments about spark plugs. The turbo thread wasn't about buying a car, its about knowing whats out there. So in like 5 years, i can have a good knowledge base and know what to look for. I made a thread like 9 months ago about supercharging my car, decided that was a waste of money. Made a thread maybe a month or 2 ago about some minor upgrades, but also decided that was a waste of money. This thread is actually productive, and is intended to save me money. My priorities are straight: saving money. It took me a long time to realize my car is shit and i should never have wasted a dime on aftermarket parts, but i know that now, and my priority is now longevity for my car as a DD, which means i want it to get good MPG. but i'm still on the fence about weight reduction. so that doesn't really matter.
  4. i can quote things and make them bold too.
  5. sounds like a fuckin awesome idea. And the rest of your advice is great as well, from this thread i came to that conclusion. Keep the stang till its dead as a daily driver, because a DD will do me more good than $2000. It'll get me a used car with what, 5000-10000 miles less than without the $2000? not worth it. best to keep it as a DD.
  6. I don't know anything about any of the vehicles you listed. I don't even have any evidence to support what i'm about to say, however: I've heard atleast 20 different people use the term "Ford Exploder" (when talking about the Ford Explorer) and heard lots of talk about how shitty of a car it is and how it is very well known for crapping out and having tons of problems, even when well taken care of. Just from word of mouth, i personally would avoid it.
  7. i'm feelin your mathematics sir. but look at it this way: $1000 in gas is 50 tanks of gas. a Ten gallon tank would last me a week maximum. there are 52 weeks in a year. Its paid for after one year, and from there i am seeing the money i saved by doing the modification. say i keep it for 5 more years from the moment i do the mod. thats 4 years worth of money i saved on gas, which over the course of 4 years and 208 tanks of gas could really add up to be a significant sum of money, which i used to buy groceries, car payments, house payments. etc. Saving money is saving money. Even if i was gonna save less than 100 dollars (1 or 2 trips to the grocery) i'd still spend the time and money to do it. Its worth it. 2 free trips to the grocery for what. an hour or two to go to the store, buy the shit, build it, and put it in? worth it man. if i told you right now for the rest of your life all you have to do is come mow my grass, water my plants, and trim the hedges once a week for two hours and i'd buy you all your groceries for as long as you did the work for me, YOU'D DO IT! Free fuckin groceries! for two hours! that you could have spent doing what? dickin around on CR talking to some punk ass with a V6 mustang? obviously free groceries are better.
  8. lmao i know. fucking stupid. I've been told by several people just to make it myself. That shit is 150. all it is is wood. carpeting, and some nuts and bolts. All shit i can buy at the hardware store for way less than 150
  9. something like this http://www.americanmuscle.com/seat-delete-kit-9904h.html i don't know the details. never looked at it or anything really. started considering weight reduction yesterday to improve MPG. i figured it'd be easy to do.
  10. I can read a magazine review about a car that says its awesome, then talk to someone who owns it and tells me wow its shit i treat it like god and it breaks down every other day. personal experience far trumps what you read on the internet. i used to read about how exhaust and 4.10 gears on my car would make me so fast, it'd have me beating GT's and hanging with Cobras. I read so many different people say it that i actually believed it.
  11. i know man. my shit is fucking slow . i asked some kid who comments on my streetracing against hondas videos on youtube and this is what he told me about rear seat delete kits. "its very easy....your every day tools should be enough...i did it when i was 16..and it was a peice of cake...now im 20 and still have the seat delete....trust me bro..top end is awsome when you drop some weight....slap some fat tires with that light rear end and it zips around.... " zips around, my ass. i'll admit, it feels fast to go like 15.5 when your car is 17.6 stock, but after you ride in someones car who does better than 15.0, which is like 100000 cars, you feel like shit lol.
  12. Saw him at the movies at easton one time, he's a giant. My roomates girlfriend went and is talking about it now. Said Evan Turner was on stage. Said it was an awesome concert.
  13. You posted in it like 400 times. mostly towards the end making fun of BDAZGSX and I. but you actually said some productive things. whats wrong with making a list? and if its so gay why'd you participate?
  14. aaron i apologize. you are humble about your car like me. i should not have insulted it, as i would not want mine to be insulted for slowness, as i know it is slow, and don't need to be told. you are still gay for posting a thread about me insulting me. I am a car n00b. i wanted to make a list of fast cars, because i am OCD and thoroughly enjoy lists. And wanted to know whats out there. I don't feel like that is gay, or requires for me to be insulted. No one had a problem with the turbo list.
  15. Its a burn because i know my shit is slow. And i accept it. And i don't care. i like how my car looks. and i like how it gets me from point a to point b. he prob thinks his car is the shit.
  16. according to car and driver GTi runs 14.7 stock. i lost to a civic si that ran a 15.1 by 2 cars. so i'd run what? a 15.3? 14.7 does not walk 15.3.
  17. 3. Aaron. Walk me? no. Beat me? by a couple cars? yes. thats pathetic if you only beat my slow piece of shit by a couple cars. my shit is slow.
  18. Aaron, http://msp232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/katiemw1/Youre__Gay.jpg Even lists of cars are less gay than you. you have a girly ass VW and a girly ass name.
  19. I disagree. I think any car that would make this list now will still be on it when i look to buy. But regardless its not about buying even. Its about i wanna know whats out there. I live in reynoldsburg. People don't have nice cars lol. (i know all the ones that do, and its not a long list). I want a list for what it is. A list. Of good cars. Cars that people on here can say i own/owned it and love it. Just for fun really. I wanna know whats out there. From the turbo list i learned like 3 cars i've never heard of EVER and i actually really like now. and was reminded of like 10 that for the life of me i couldn't think of. Maybe there's some sweet ass N/A car i've never heard of that is actually sweet and i should know about. I want my car knowledge to grow. And lists are awesome.
  20. Hello All, I'm trying to formulate a list of all Naturally Aspirated or Supercharged cars that would be worth buying. It doesn't have to come fast stock like a Corvette, but i don't want anything as slow or slower than my 3.8 Stang (with bolt ons and gears runs about a 15.5, preferably want something I can break 14.0 with on minor mods). And i want something that is easy to mod i.e. lots of aftermarket parts are available for it. The list so far: Chevrolet Corvette: C6, C5, Z06’s, ZR1 Ford Mustang: 5.0, 3.7 /// GT500, 4.6, 4.0 /// Cobra ,4.6, 3.8 /// 5.0 Pontiac GTO Nissan 370Z Nissan 350Z Infiniti G37 Infiniti G35 Honda S2000 No, I’m not going to buy a car now. No I don’t have the money. I hope I will in a few years. Right now I’m leaning toward a turbo car, but wouldn’t mind being swayed to something without boost. Anyways, this isn’t about a car I’m looking for. It’s about accumulating a solid list of good cars that anyone who knows about cars could agree with, and anyone who doesn’t could learn from. Maybe you all will convince me away from a turbo car which is what I currently desire. Also, it should be a car that an average joe can afford. Nothing $100K plus. Everyone knows Lamborghini’s are fast. Lets not get too old here. 5.0's are on the list because theyre so awesome, but theres not much else that one could buy now in good condition that is that old. Finally, don’t say put a turbo kit on your stang! That’s putting a turbo kit on it to make it fast. Its not fast. So doesn’t belong on the list (even though I put it there ) The turbo list was a success, lets make this one too. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78711 What should be added to the list? Post info about it like: Mustang GT’s. 4.6L V8 260HP stock. maybe add a date: 1999-2004
  21. Ya i've heard 4.10's can be better on gas at lower speeds, so i'll most likely stick with them unless i get a different job in a couple years and have to hit the freeway alot. Okay. I appreciate the help everyone. This is what i'll be doing: -Weight Reduction (nothing major, atleast spare tire). -Diamondfire Spark Plugs and Nice wires (cuz the ones i have are semi old anyways) -New fuel filter. -87 octane economy tune. Also, i need new tires this summer, so maybe that could help slightly too. Feel free to speak up if there's something else that no one here has mentioned, or chime in if you think i should go to the stock gears. Thanks all.
  22. Things i'm definitely doing: -Weight Reduction. -Diamondfire Spark Plugs and Nice wires. -New fuel filter. -87 octane economy tune. Okay, i figured reducing some weight could never hurt. I wouldn't go that extreme though, like you said. I'm giving alot of consideration to going back to the stock ratio. How much of an improvement would i see? My drive to work is 10 minutes down broad street through rush hour (i live in reynoldsburg near broad and lancaster/reynoldsburg-new albany rd.). On the weeeknds i drive to easton alot for dates and stuff. With cruise on at 70mph the rpms are like 3500 atleast, maybe even like 3800, when i accelerate to pass someone easily aroudn 4500. going 50 on broad about 2500. 35mph is about 15-1700 rpms. So, primarily i drive in 25-50mph zones, with probably 1 or 2 trips to easton per week. How much of an improvement in MPG would i see with the stock gears? should i consider 3.73's at all?
  23. i see. so its as much about coasting and slowing down as it is about NOT accelerating fast. thanks for the tip. i was told getting a K&N Cai will help, because metal cold air intakes (like mine) get hot. also diamondfire spark plugs and good wires. think i'm gonna do the plugs and wires for sure. K&N if i can find it cheap. also true dual exhaust, but i don't want to spend the $ for that. any other ideas for mods? i realize driving style has alot to do with it. but anything besides the obvious plugs, air filter, or oil change that i can do to help it get better MPG?
  24. http://mustangs.about.com/od/fuelmileagestatistics/a/mileage-tips.htm 3. Remove Excess Weight Excess weight is another factor. Lighten up your ride. The EPA says an extra 100 pounds in your car can reduce your gas mileage by 2%. Vehicles such as the Mustang will be impacted by this more so than heavy vehicles such as trucks and SUVs. maybe its not ricer bs?
  25. fat? what do you mean lol? also, didn't mention, has an automatic transmission.
