To clarify for some 1. How do we bring manufacturing back to the United States? It depends on what type of manufacturing. But short story is make stuff that people need. Make them in the US. Employ US citizens to make them....or robots. The word "need" can be somewhat subjective. People don't "need" much. 2. Do we even want to considering the effect it would have on both pricing and the environment. Possibly not. I think that we should most definitely manufacture things that we need. Many people forget the fact that a good infrastructure is essential to security. Processes of manufacture that are not sustainable maybe should be made sustainable or phased out. Question: Why does everyone hate on the union as a cause of lack of manufacturing?

I have a Tempur Cloud Supreme and I have never slept better. The smell is kinda funky but it goes away so no big deal. I do find it to be warmer at times than a regular mattress but I simply modulate the blankets and it is all good. I would recommend it to anyone.

You bring up really good questions here. It is commonly accepted that we do not manufacture enough and that is part of the downfall of the US. It could be argued that we should get rid of ALL manufacturing. If we were to bring back manufacturing I would like to see advances in renewable energy development and production as well as healthy food production. I feel that we should focus on sustainable production and elimination of pollution. I honestly do not understand any of this.

Many of the pergo planks already come with foam underlay attached. I just installed pergo throughout my living room and kitchen and it was a lot of work but it was not difficult. Once you "get in the groove" you will see quite a bit of progress very quickly. I did a lot of research of laminate vs wood and I choose laminate because of my dogs and the cost of upkeep of real wood.

While I obviously do not speak for everybody, I was citing my usage of the dr and my reasons. It would not matter to me the cost, if I had to see a dr, I would need to pay the required amount. It could be free or 100 pr visit, I only go to the dr when I need to. I'm sure there would be an increase in dr visits due to the people who do not have the cash to pay now finally having better options. The status quo is unsustainable and getting more expensive every day. The government subsidizes the agriculture industry/and they can subsidize needed educational fields. I haven't heard your plan yet, toughguy.

Everyone keeps quoting what they assume to be the negative consequences of universal healthcare without even trying to grasp all of the good. I would much rather have a dr operating on me that enjoys their job and likes to help people than a dr who is trying to pad his wallet. We really need to get over this whole "waiting years" to see a dr and how the government tells you who you can see as this is simply false fearmongering. I have a rather small copay and I very rarely (once every 3-4 years) visit the dr. Not because I am afraid of paying 15 bucks but because I don't need to. We can think up disaster scenarios all day long but that doesn't help us solve any problems. Feel free to exit the healthcare profession.

There is still accountablility and responsibility in a Socialist system so I really don't understand where you are getting this. My goal is healthcare for everyone......bam!....I win. We don't and can't have that without "Socializing" our system. This is exactly what Marx says actually. Socialism is but one step after Capitalism but before Communism. You keep implying that I think Socialism is better than Capitalism but I have not said this. It depends on what you mean by "better" but I have stated many times a blend of both ideologies is best (as far as we know until a better system comes out). On a side note I find it interesting how everyone seems to think they know more than the President and that they know whats best for the world. The President is privy to all kinds of information we are not. IF I were to decide between a PURELY Capitalist country or a PURELY Socialist country (none of these exist) I would THEN choose a Socialist country. I say this because unregulated Capitalism leads to monopolies and ownership of everything by businesses trying to make a buck instead of being concerned for the welfare of the people. Socialism would not lead to the biggest earnings but an adequat and sustainable living for everyone. You seem to get so bent out of shape about how Socialism is evil. Let me define Socialism because there is a very real misunderstanding of the term as it is a "bad word" as of recently. Thats it, very simple. We ought to have more ownership, not less.

I got it, you are for the "socialization" of education, taxes, roads, etc but you don't want the poor people to have your hard earned, American made dollars. You have repeatedly chanted about how Obama is a Socialist and I was just providing some direct, real world info straight from a Socialist. This article also critiques Obama about some of his policies that I also agree with. You keep repeating how Socialism or at least some socialization lowers the bar and causes people to be lazy and this may be true if you were to let unregulated Socialism go compared to unregulated Capitalism. Capitalism would produce more Capital as thats the purpose of it, however Socialism would maintain an adequat lifestyle for all. I do not need millions of dollars to be happy. Between the two I would most certainly rather live in a Socialist country but this is purely hypothetical anyway since it is hard to find unregulated anything.

One of the most pressing matters here in the US is our health as it has been declining more and more rapidly. Directly related to the above is agribusiness and sustainable agriculture. Education has already been mentioned and this is killer as we do not reap the rewards immediately but if we do not get the education system working better, we stand to lose exponentially in the future. The decline of bees in the US.

I am not saying any of this actually, haha. There are very many opportunites for people in the US, there are also opportunities for people that live in Socialist countries too. I am not saying that Socialism is better as it has issues as well. I feel that using the best ideas from both ideologies will gives us the best results. Obamas ideals I can only assume but health care needed changing but the healthcare reform bill is not exactly the change I was looking for but it is a start. I wish there would have been more honest debate and less obstruction that would have lead to a better bill but I consider it a foot in the door. What comes through is still in the air and can be guided by votes.

I agree that the US should not become a socialist nation. What I do believe is that we should be a bit more socialised than we are. I agree with all the examples above and I do expect people to work for what they want and for them to be provided the opportunity to succeed, not success itself.

I am simply playing devils advocate for why people hate him. If there was someone with better ideals and better strategies, I would vote for them. It's really that simple. I don't hate him because he thinks differently than I.

I would no doubt expect there will be some negative impacts to people for the better good of everyone but where do you find Obama is against medical specialization? If we focused more on preventative maintainence there would be fewer hip/ knee replacements needed. You are assuming that IF Obama was against AND limited the practice THAN there would not be enough people to perform these surgieries so people would not recieve care? I don't quite follow.
