  1. This thread is so rarely updated...I'm such a sloth.. Anyways, after buying HPtuners I've set the transmission all to spec with a SSR including the Torque management... and also set up the "performance" mode which just needs me to hook up the button. Transmission has not shifted weird since I reset everything. guy that tuned it originally set everything the same as stock "performance" so I dunno what was causing the intermittent hard shifts. as for the engine tune, I've only changed the spark table to a 2002 SS camaro, changed the fuel stuff to match a 2004 Silverado for the 628 injectors. as soon as I get some time off work and decent weather I'll get some "real" tuning in on the street. As for fixing broken shit.....I found a rattle coming from the transmission was one of the bolts had backed out...guess that's why you are supposed to use loctite. Coming soon. New body parts.. already ordered a new front bumper without the bump strip holes, driver side inner fender and passenger side fender... Still need to order the other inner and fender as well as a Driver side door shell and both rocker panels. Which I plan to get done this spring. Going to have my dad paint them before I put them on. And since I have to replace the upper/lower bushings and ball joints, I figured what the hell, good excuse to order a set of Spohn control arms. And while the whole front end is apart, I'm going to sand down the frame and throw some por-15 on it. Still have the BCM from a 2001 Camaro ready to go in, which I'll probably door with the doors since I can get the Regulators and actuators installed.. It's still a SLOW ass process but it is starting to come along. and I'm ready to get it looking good since I've not had any issues with the way it's running since I put in the new engine.

  3. STILL 7,000?! I mean I've read the LS engines with basic valve train upgrades can rev for days....but on a stock engine that seems a little high to me....But that's just me I guess. *The guy who enabled the P/N Abuse limiter at 3,200
  4. Sounds like a hell of a project... but should be hella fun once it is finished. I don't know shit about Corollas... but I know the whole wedging a LS into a tiny engine bay...and some wiring, so if you need some extra help just hit me up.
  5. I need to strap the battery down, got shitty tires and the windshield has a crack across the bottom right corner. otherwise everything else should be good.
  6. Mmmmm ls brz, there's a video on YouTube of one and it looks pretty sweet. Good Lord. The limiter on my 5.3 is 6,200 with wot shift rpm at 5,800
  7. I wonder....since it's a 20 second ET would my "less than legal" S10 pass the tech?
  8. Would have been awesome, but he already put the engine back together...and I guess doesn't want to take things apart again?
  9. Buddy of mine is doing some work to his truck and wants to replace the cam while it's apart. He wants something in the .480 to .500 lift range. it's going in a 1996 C1500 with a 305? Looking for something by this weekend, if anyone has something Said he's got $140 to spend.
  10. Ordering HPtuner for my truck as soon as my paycheck posted and I just figured I'd ask yet another stupid question on here.... Anyways, I've been playing around with the VCM suite in demo mode figuring out the actual program and comparing stock tunes... I've found the 2004 SSR (with a 5.3) looks to be slightly more aggressive than say a silverado tune. Now here is the stupid question. to use as a starting point for street tuning, would I just flash the SSR OS to my PCM, or copy over the tables I want to the 1999 Silverado 4.8 OS currently on my pcm? Reading other write ups on LS swaps I've seen mention of people running the Corvette OS on their 5.3 with a cam?
  11. But I just like the sound of 6k in my truck.... not sure if everyone looks at me when I run it out in 2nd on the highway because 1. it's a piece of shit 2. they are also gay 3. they just think "look at this foggot revving his engine"
  12. Getting around that time of year when I have a lot of extra money and I think it's finally time to upgrade my worn out 225/70r15 and 235/70r16 mismatched tire on my hoopty. I'm budgeting this to around 1,500-1,600 including $800 I'm spending on new 18x8 wheels. right now I'm looking at Continental Sport contact 5 tires in a 255/55r18 (255/55 is my target size since I don't want to chance a bent wheel and are the biggest I KNOW I can run) I just don't want to end up with a crap tire or not the best tire for the money. Anyways for those that don't know? The vehicle in question is a 1992 RCSB 2wd S10 with a 5.3L (so it should be putting about 250ish to the rear wheels) it's an auto so, take offs are not THAT aggressive. It is a DD running about 20miles a day to and from work (city and highway) obviously I'll have a crap set of wheels/tires for the winter so I'm just looking at summer tires that won't slide all over the place in the rain. might see a little track action in the summer.(I maybe run a total of 5,000 miles a year so low wear is OK so long as the traction is good)
  13. went poking around under the hood and found the middle coil had been replaced (had two 1/4 coils) assuming they had replaced just a single coil and did not apply thermal grease I threw a whole different set in it's place. (there was a whole set in the spare tire cubby) so far it seems to be running much better (just went to stringtown and back) Still need to replace the plug wires since I found most of them had melted and probably do plugs too. Ls1 swap I was kind of thinking that, but don't those usually smell like sulfur when they get clogged and smoke? I know when the one my my girlfriends Focus got clogged up it would run, but could not move out of it's own way.
  14. Was throwing a maf low circuit the last week, cleaned and took care of that problem.. Was able to see cylinder 6,7 & 8 misfire count 6 & 8 were showing 10-12,000 7 was showing 55,000. Don't know if that is an accurate reading that's just misread on the cylinder or just bad data since I was using a crappy scanner. Only code I've seen it throw since has been the egr (which has been capped off but not removed from the pcm) I've read sometimes the crank sensor plugs corrodes and can cause intermittent problems (forgot to add when wet it is worse) And that apparently the coils overheat if not properly set on the heatsinks.. I'll go ahead today and start poking around at stuff
  15. That firebird my mom bought is having some issues.... it runs strong....sometimes. other times.... no so much. the problem is intermittent to say the least. occasionally it will hiccup on hard acceleration, hiccups are a LOT worse at highway speeds. sometime it will just spit and sputter once or twice and be fine... Other times the engine will loose power and drop down to idle on the highway and eventually stall then start up just fine after you turn the key off and start it. if you leave it in gear one it runs down to idle it will surge TERRIBLY (like blipping the throttle in 1st gear) until you put it in neutral and it stalls. Replaced the fuel filter and that helped a little bit, ran two different fuel system cleaners through it (they helped a lot while they were in the tank) What's weird to me though is if it was fuel/spark related it wouldn't drop down to idle and take a 10-15 seconds to die, would it? I'm kind of thinking it might be something in the DBW system? (I don't know much about them) It ran fine going to Zanesville tonight but on the way back it started acting up... it would start bogging like it lost spark, but was not stalling, it would run down to idle and if you kept feathering the throttle it would surge hard and keep running, if you shifted into neutral and stopped it would die. start it back up and it would run fine for a few miles and repeat the whole thing.. I went through 3 fuel pumps in 2½ years on my S10, and it's not running like a dying pump. It's a 2001 Firebird with a 3.8L V6 and Auto transmission. all I know is it has DBW, a ridiculous crank position sensor, some weird ass coil packs and no 4k abuse limiter.
  16. Trans am, firebird, firechicken... It's an F body with a Pontiac logo that looks like the love child of a Saturn and Sun fire. Lol but really I thought trans am and firebird were the same thing. Thanks for the info
  17. My mom just bought a pos 2001 Trans am with a 3.8... needs some parts and a bit of work. and apparently these are impossible to find in junk yards. right now main parts I'm looking for are: 1. Driver side door (electric) window is a plus but I have a good window. 2. Headlight assemblies & motors. 3. Driver side fender 4. Hood (would like a ram air but not necessary) 5. Front bumper cover 6. Dash (the actual padded dash part not the top part) Figure it would not hurt to ask on here if some one has spare parts or knows someone parting on out.
  18. Oh come on nick, Take the ST out! I might go with my friends with an RSX-S and V6 'stang Participating Depends if I can figure out where the weird ass noises are coming from and if they have tech.
  19. I'll be there...probably.
  20. My dad could do it.... but you'd have to wait on paint.
  21. Have a bunch of parts leftover from engine swaps and I need money to buy a camera. parts are from 1999 LR4 4.8L and 2004 LM7 5.3L 1. Uncut 2004 DBW engine harness does not include battery hook ups $90 2. 2004 DBW throttle body, good condition works to my knowledge. $50 3. TWO truck oil pans will fit 1999-2006 silverado maybe more Both have oil level sensor and come with windage tray and pickup tube $30ea 4. Delphi CS0121 A/C compressor (also have the LS engine mount for this) Came off a 1999 Silverado 1500 LR4 $45 5. truck Intake came off a 2004 lm7 Includes return less fuel rail and injectors $75 6. Also found the crossover pipe from the LR4... dunno if anyone uses that style steam vent or not. $??? Pictures up http://projectlst10.tumblr.com/
  22. UHHHGGGG I WANT THAT LS6 INTAKE.....But I'm a broke ass... GLWS
  23. I should be able to go... If anyone's like me and doesn't work Friday adobe Gila's happy hour is 4-6 I think.
